Tesco India captive gets new head

BANGALORE (TIP):
In a major organizational rejig, Tesco, the world’s third largest retailer, has brought company veteran Glen Attewell from Seoul to head its captive global IT operations in Bangalore. Tesco Hindustan Service Centre (HSC) is the operations and technology centre for Tesco worldwide.

It was the first fully owned support centre set up by a major international retailer in India and currently employs close to 6,000 people. As CEO, Attewell will report to Alison Horner, group personnel director on the executive committee of Tesco, indicating the growing importance of the retailer’s India operations. Attewell will take over from Sandeep Dhar, who joined the company in 2008. Prior to this, Dhar was the MD for India and global head of delivery at Sapient, a US-based marketing and consulting company.
