NEW DELHI (TIP): The Delhi High Court on March 22 lifted the gag order on media and ruled that the media will now be allowed to report on the trial of four accused in the December 16 Delhi gangrape case. The trial till now was being held in-camera on the orders of the special fast-track court. One reporter each from a registered publication/network will now be permitted to cover the court proceedings in the case. The Delhi gangrape case is being heard by a fast-track court in Saket.

The court, which has till date recorded statements of 55 witnesses in the case, on Thursday concluded recording of statement of the 60th prosecution witness in the case. With the proceedings against the main accused Ram Singh being over after his death on March 11, the remaining four adult accused – Mukesh, Vinay, Akshay Singh and Pawan Gupta – are facing trial in the case for rape and murder.

The four accused are on trial for the gangrape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedical student and attack on her friend on the night of December 16, 2012. The fifth accused, a juvenile, is facing trial before the juvenile justice board. The girl had died on December 29, 2012 in a Singapore hospital due to the grievous injuries she suffered when she was brutally assaulted by the six accused
