BELLEROSE, QUEENS (TIP): The Taxi Drivers Medallion Association has endorsed Satnam Singh Parhar for City Council District 23 in the September 10th Democratic Primary, Parhar announced, August 25. The association represents more than 6,000 medallion owners in New York City.

“I am honored to be endorsed by the Taxi Drivers Medallion Association,” Satnam Singh Parhar said. “Medallion owners are a hard-working group of New Yorkers, and an important part of the community. If elected to the City Council I will do my best to make certain they receive the equal and fair treatment, and the respect that they deserve from the City of New York,” Parhar said.

“It is a pleasure to support the candidacy of Satnam Singh Parhar for City Council,” said Taxi Drivers Medallion Association spokesperson Satwinder Singh. “Over the past several years medallion owners have been ignored by the city, while app drivers have been given increased benefits and rights. It is
time that there was a level playing field for both medallion owners and app drivers, and we believe that Parhar will help bring the same level of fairness to both groups of drivers.”

Satnam Parhar Singh is looking to fill the seat in Council District 23 that was vacated when Mark Weprin left the Council to work for Governor Andrew Cuomo. The Special Democratic Primary for the Council seat is scheduled for Thursday, September 10th.
