Singh Is Kinng released in 2008 and left an everlasting mark over the fans. The comedy and sentimentality combined to give an amazing treat to the fans.
Even to this day jokes, references and songs from the film keep going viral. Shailendra Singh, the filmmaker is ready to revive the magic of the film on big screen again with a new set of starcast. His favourite choice for the role is Ranveer Singh, he feels his energy and charm is a perfect match for the lead role. Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh also remains a popular choice. He wants to see a new face and this means yet another sequel went away from Akshay’s bag. Kartik Aryan has already taken over the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. However, fans pointed out that it was after Singh Is Kinng that Akshay Kumar’s stars went downhill with films like Chandini Chowk To China, Kambakht Ishq and Tees Maar Khan. Akshay was set to gain superstardom like Shahrukh Khan but it all went wrong afterwards. Many see this as a bad omen for Ranveer’s career and wish that he is cautious against it. The director of the project is also not clear, various speculations between Anees Bazmee and Priyadarshini still remain. Bollywood is on a steady track of sequels gaining success and this might be just the right time for Singh Is Kinng 2.

Varun spills beans about Salman’s cameo in Baby John; calls Janhvi ‘busiest actor’
It’s the season of cameos in Bollywood where special appearances have managed to emerge as crowd-pullers for new releases. The biggest example of this was Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar’s epic cameos in the recent blockbuster hit film Stree 2. So when audiences heard rumours of Bollywood’s Bhaijaan Salman Khan having a special appearance in Varun’s first-ever actioner Baby John, they were obviously intrigued. Much to the delight of fans, Varun has now confirmed the news! That’s not all. During an ‘ask me anything’ session on social media, Varun even spilled some beans about Bhaijaan’s cameo.
During this session last night, a fan asked Varun: “Bhai ka cameo #BabyJohn me Kitne minutes ka hai.” Replying to the same, Varun shared, “Minutes Nahi bolunga impact bahut zyaada kaafi mahino ka milega #babyjohn #varunsays.” Soon enough, the comment section flooded with messages by fans who couldn’t handle their excitement. Janhvi and Varun shared the screen for the first time in Bawaal (2023), taking the internet by storm with their adorable chemistry. Up next, the two will reunite in Dharma Productions’ upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. When asked about his experience of working with Janhvi in the rom com, Varun shared, “Janhvi is amazing im. Happy cause she’s currently the busiest actress in our business now so I’m happy for her #varunsays.”
When Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari was first announced, many netizens guessed that this was actually Dulhania 3, the third installment in Shashank Khaitan’s Dulhania series after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2014). The first two films featured Alia Bhatt opposite Varun. But this fan theory was not confirmed by the makers. -

Shraddha finds love in Sindhi bizman after Rahul Mody? Fans speculate
Shraddha Kapoor is a fan favourite, not just because of her onscreen work but also for the way she interacts with her social media followers. It’s as though the actor is an open book for her Insta fam! But the one thing that Shraddha has always kept private is her love life. Earlier this year when she made her first public appearance with Rahul Mody at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities, fans were convinced that she will soon make her relationship official. But that didn’t happen. Instead, rumours of their break up began doing the rounds when Shraddha unfollowed the writer of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (2023) as well as his dog on social media.
Soon after this ‘unfollowing’ incident came to the notice of fans, Shraddha got busy with promotions of her horror comedy Stree 2. The film’s crazy box office success resulted in all eyes on Shraddha’s career instead of her personal life. However, recently when she mentioned her ‘partner’ in an interview, rumour mills began churning once again. Shraddha confirmed being in a relationship when she told a leading magazine that she ‘loves spending time with her partner’. On the work front, latest buzz suggests that Shraddha might be roped in for Dhoom 4. This would mark the actor’s reunion with her Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar co-star Ranbir Kapoor, who is reportedly taking the Dhoom franchise forward. Source: HT -

The much-awaited trailer of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, helmed by filmmaker Anees Bazmee, was unveiled on Wednesday. Taking to its YouTube channel, T-Series posted the nearly four minute long video. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is a blend of psychological horror and comedy. The film’s trailer was launched at an event in Jaipur.
The video began with a brief about Manjulika and how she has been wreaking havoc for centuries. Vidya Balan’s character screams, as she returns, “I’m Manjulika”. Kartik Aaryan’s character, Rooh Baba, talks about how people should take advantage of ghosts instead of getting scared. The trailer also gives glimpses of some humorous moments featuring Kartik, Sanjay Mishra, Rajpal Yadav, and Ashwini Kalsekar.
The situation soon turns grim as Majulika returns. However, she is seen taking Madhuri Dixit’s body as hostage to create chaos. Madhuri’s character then screams, “I’m Manjulika.” Between romance and comedy, Rooh Baba tries to deal with Manjulika. However, he faces another challenge as both Vidya and Madhuri’s characters are seen as Manjulika.
The trailer ends with Triptii Dimri’s character telling Rooh Baba that they will soon be married. However, after smiling briefly, he shouts and walks away. Triptii is seemingly playing a character who is dead. Rajesh Sharma is also part of the trailer.
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Murad Khetani. Scheduled for a Diwali 2024 release, the film marks Vidya’s return to the franchise. She essayed the iconic role of Manjulika in the 2007 blockbuster. It also starred Akshay Kumar and Ameesha Patel. The second instalment, which released in 2022, featured Tabu and Kiara Advani along with Kartik. Directed by Priyadarshan in its first iteration and later by Anees for the sequels, Bhool Bhulaiyaa has been a favourite among audiences for its blend of psychological horror and comedy.
Recently, Anees spoke about the film with news agency ANI. “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is a project very close to my heart. We have pushed the boundaries of the horror-comedy genre to bring something fresh and entertaining. Working with such a talented cast and the entire team, from crew members to technicians, has been an absolute pleasure, and I’m confident the audience will enjoy the journey we’ve crafted for them,” he told ANI.
The trailer began with Kartik Aaryan’s character, Rooh Baba, who claims how people should take advantage of ghosts instead of getting scared. He flirts with Triptii Dimri’s character as he is pointed towards solving a new mystery. There on, the legend of the devil begins with Vidya Balan introducing herself as Monjulika. What’s more? Madhuri Dixit’s character also seems to be hiding a dark secret, as both of these women have a face-off. -

An industry source told India Today Digital, “Alaya F is said to be seen playing a part in the sequel of Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. In an earlier interview, the actor had reflected on her career so far and said, “Firstly, taking opinions from people who won’t just sweet talk you but also guide you is really important to me. We all need that support system of people who we really trust. Unbiased, clear opinions that are given to you in productive ways and not destructive ways are always helpful. But, more than that, professionally, for me, it’s just about instinct. Overthinking or analysing the choices way too much has never worked out for me or I haven’t felt really great about them.”
Alaya was last seen in Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Rajkummar Rao’s Srikanth. -

Makers of Emergency film agree to changes by censor board
The makers of Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency on Monday, September 30, agreed to the changes suggested by the revising committee of the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC). During the latest hearing in the Bombay High Court, the representative of Zee Studios informed the court that they have submitted a format for the implementation of the changes and are waiting for the board to respond now. The development in the case was confirmed by the news agency ANI. A notification by the agency also revealed that the further hearing in the matter will take place on October 3. “Production company Zee Studio’s lawyer told Bombay HC that they have agreed to the suggested changes by the Revising Committee, and they have submitted a format for the implementation of the changes suggested by the CBFC. CBFC will respond to this format and the next hearing on the matter is kept on Thursday, 3rd October (sic),” read the post shared by the agency on social media platform X.
Earlier, the board issued around 13 cuts and changes to the film, passing the content with a UA certificate. The revising committee told the makers to make the changes and obtain the certificate for its release in theatres. The list of cuts included removal of a few violent scenes, and a reference to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as ‘saint or sant’ in a dialogue. The decision was made following multiple complaints by several Sikh groups, alleging the film showed the Sikh community in a bad light.
The makers had three options to proceed ahead: to accept all the changes and cuts, to contest the recommendations in a higher court, or to follow up with the board in further discussions and try to reach a common ground. It seems like the makers chose to end the entire fight to finally get the certificate and release the film on the big screen. -

Dadasaheb Phalke Award: Reward for Mithun Chakraborty’s versatility
In an industry which foists a new deity every Friday, Mithun Chakraborty’s has been a story of resilience. Announced as the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award on Monday (September 30, 2024), Mithun Chakraborty has never been a prisoner of image. From arthouse to mainstream commercial cinema to even fare meant unabashedly for frontbenchers, he has straddled different genres with consummate ease.
Beginning with Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa in 1976, he has probably been the only major actor to make a successful transition from arthouse cinema to commercial potboilers and back. While Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Om Puri and Smita Patil each dabbled with limited success in mainstream cinema after carving out their own niche in parallel cinema, Mithun is the only one to get a good bite of the cherry.
In parallel cinema, he has worked with the likes of Mrinal Sen, Buddhadeb Dasgupta and Goutam Ghose, winning three National Awards in the process. He switched to mainstream fare with the likes of B. Subash, K.C. Bokadia, Manmohan Desai and Parto Ghosh without a hiccup, giving his fans films like Disco Dancer, Dance Dance, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Ganga Jumna Saraswati, Agneepath and Dalaal, etc. Director B. Subash’s Disco Dancer got Mithun an international fan following with the film raking it rich in the Soviet Union, Japan and China besides India. For a few years in the mid-80s, he was the best-known Indian abroad. At a time when Hindi cinema was dominated by Salim-Javed’s ‘Angry Young Man’ persona, Mithun rewrote the box office rules with Disco Dancer, where Bappi Lahiri’s music and his dance numbers ensured repeat audiences.
For a brief while in the late 80s, he challenged Amitabh Bachchan for the top slot in Hindi cinema, encouraging Desai to give him a meaty role in Ganga Jamunaa Saraswati, a rarity in Hindi cinema where most heroes played second fiddle to Bachchan.
Yet, Mithun’s most durable claim to fame has to be his foray into serious cinema where his work in films like Tahader Katha, Kaalpurush, Swami Vivekanand and Gudiya is still remembered. With his restrained work in arthouse cinema, he disproved the notion that an action hero of Hindi cinema could not pull off neorealism fare. Tahader Katha, Kaalpurush, Swami Vivekanand and Mrigayaa, each one got a National Award giving Mithun his own niche in serious cinema, and making sure his popularity traversed from first-day-first-show to film festival circuit.
There is, however, another aspect of Mithun’s career which has been under-appreciated. He is probably the first A-grade star to work in films specially made for the less-discerning audiences. In the mid-90s, Mithun reworked the economics of cinema by shooting for films exclusively in Ooty with a standard cast comprising the likes of Hemant Birje, Gautami, Deepti Bhatnagar, Kiran Kumar and Raza Murad with music by Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen. The films, made on a shoe-string budget of around ?40 lakh, were completed within a month or so and released without fanfare at smaller centres. Films like Jallad, Chandaal, Dada, Hitler, The Don and Cheetah were not heard of in metropolises but earned the producers sizeable profit besides keeping Mithun’s hardcore fans in small towns happy. Interestingly, while G.V. Iyer took 11 years to complete the research for Mithun’s Swami Vivekanand, the star meanwhile completed more than 20 films!
In recent times, Mithun has played supporting roles in films like TheKashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, forays which probably went some way in convincing the three-member jury comprising former Dadasaheb awardee Asha Parekh, actor-politician Khushbu Sundar and filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah to select Mithun Chakraborty for the highest honor in Indian cinema. The actor, who’s currently shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, will hop on to begin the fourth film in Aditya Chopra’s Dhoom franchise next. As per a report published in Pinkvilla, Ranbir has given his final nod to the makers and Chopra is busy providing finishing touches to the script with writer Vijay Krishna Acharya. Adi Chopra feels that RK is the ideal choice to carry forward the Dhoom legacy.” -

Manoj Bajpayee: Directors couldn’t think of me as a rich, high-society guy
Manoj Bajpayee, known for his stellar performances in films and shows like The Family Man and Gangs of Wasseypur, has made a name for himself as one of India’s most talented actors.
However, despite his versatility, the actor admits that he has often been stereotyped into playing middle-class or lower-middle-class roles. This typecasting, according to him, has limited the kinds of characters he is offered, especially those from affluent backgrounds.
In a recent interview with Bombay Times, Manoj spoke candidly about how filmmakers view him and how it has affected the roles he gets. “I am mostly cast in middle-class or lower-middle-class stories,” he shared. “Filmmakers struggle to cast me as a rich guy.” Despite his range, this perception of him as only suited to certain types of roles has followed him throughout his career.
Bajpayee revealed that Zubeidaa (2001), directed by Shyam Benegal, was one of the very few films where he got the chance to play a wealthy character.
He described how Benegal’s confidence in casting him as a maharaja stemmed from his belief that royals did not always have to fit the stereotype of “Greek gods” but could look like ordinary people. “Shyam Benegal didn’t hesitate to cast me as a rich man,” Bajpayee said. “He knew real maharajas didn’t need to fit into a conventional mould.”
Similarly, in Veer Zaara (2004), Bajpayee played a Pakistani politician in a small but memorable role. Director Yash Chopra insisted that Manoj take on the part after being impressed by his performance in Pinjar (2003).
These rare instances were exceptions, as Manoj explained that most other filmmakers have been hesitant to break free from the middle-class image they have of him.
“Bakiyonko mujhe rich dikhaane mein dikkat hoti hai,” Bajpayee joked, acknowledging how directors struggle to see him as part of the high society. He emphasised that while two legendary directors like Shyam Benegal and Yash Chopra could envision him in different types of roles, many others couldn’t. “No director could think of me as a rich guy, barring these two stalwarts,” he added, highlighting how stereotyping still exists in the industry.
