Merry Christmas: Katrina Kaif-Vijay Sethupathi’s date takes a wrong turn
Attention folks, the much-awaited trailer of Merry Christmas is out and it is everything one could have asked for this holiday season. The Sriram Raghavan directorial, bringing together Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi for the first time, is about a Christmas eve date gone wrong. The trailer opens to two strangers, Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, out on a date on Christmas Eve. The two seem to hit it off right away as they take a stroll on the street, attend (what it seems) like a carnival together and end the night drinking and dancing joyously. But there is obviously much more to what meets the eye. Their dreamy outing quickly turns dark as the characters start talking in riddles. The clip ends with Katrina Kaif sitting in a theatre with Vijay in her vicinity moments before she disappears into the thin air leaving Vijay all alone. The scene is set to a rendition of Silent Night. The trailer also features Sanjay Kapoor and Vinay Pathak among others. The trailer was shared by Katrina Kaif on her Instagram feed alongside the caption which read, “Presenting the #MerryChristmasTrailer – Tamil. In cinemas on 12th Jan.” The posters of Merry Christmas released on social media earlier this year inviting reactions from the fans and followers. “People are loving the poster,” read a comment. “What a beautiful poster this is,” added another. A third added, “Loved the poster. Then I read director’s name and I am not surprised. Genius Sriram Raghvan. Looking forward for this movie.” “Wow vintage,” read another comment.
Merry Christmas has been filmed in both Hindi and Tamil and marks Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s first project together. Produced by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Jaya Taurani & Kewal Garg, and directed by Sriram Raghavan, Merry Christmas will be released on January 12.

Cameron Diaz ‘angry’ over rumors that Jamie Foxx was ‘crazy’ on Netflix film set
Cameron Diaz appeared on a recent episode of the “Lipstick on the Rim” podcast and pushed back against rumors that Jamie Foxx was “crazy” on the set of their Netflix movie “Back in Action” (via People). Foxx was in the midst of production when he was hospitalized for a medical emergency. Diaz said reports surfaced afterwards saying Foxx was “making everyone miserable and that I was never gonna make another movie again because of him.”
“I really hate all of the things that were being said about our set at the time,” Diaz continued. “You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?’ … Jamie is, like, the cheerleader for the entire crew. Everybody loves him. We have so much fun on the set with him and he’s just a professional on every level.”
Diaz said she “had a blast” working with Foxx on “Back in Action,” which is notable for being her first leading role in nearly a decade.
“Jamie is the best. I love that guy so much. He’s such a special person and he’s so talented, so much fun,” Diaz said. “The hiccups that happened throughout production are the natural kinds of things that happen. But nothing got delayed other than, obviously, toward the end. And that’s something that is not my place to speak about.” Diaz declined to discuss Foxx’s medical incident, but she said that the Oscar-winning actor is “thriving” now. “When I see and hear people trying to take another person down like that … [Jamie is] so classy. He’s like, ‘Nope. Just let them [talk],’” Diaz added. “Still, it just really made me angry.”
“Back in Action” reunites Diaz and Foxx, who worked together on 1999’s sports drama “Any Given Sunday” and 2014’s “Annie” remake, which was Diaz’s final film role until now. Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses”) is directing the movie from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien (“Neighbors”). The film is expected to be released in 2024.

George Clooney says ‘Friends’ didn’t bring joy to Matthew Perry
Actor George Clooney says Mathew Perry wasn’t happy while being on ‘Friends’.
In an interview, George shared what Mathew was like off camera as he reflected on their friendship.
“I knew Matt when he was 16 years old. We used to play paddle tennis together… And he was a great, funny, funny, funny kid,” George revealed to Deadline. George, who made an appearance as Dr. Michael Mitchell on the hit sitcom, shared that Matthew would tell him how much he wanted to be on a sitcom when hanging out with fellow actors Richard Kind and Grant Heslov.
“I just want to get on a sitcom, man. I just want to get on a regular sitcom and I would be the happiest man on earth,” Mathew said, according to George.
Despite that, the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ star noted that Matthew didn’t feel content even when he landed the role of the funny pal on ‘Friends’, which also starred Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.
“He got on probably one of the best ever,” George said of the show, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“He wasn’t happy. It didn’t bring him joy or happiness or peace.”
The ‘ER’ alum continued: “And watching that go on on the lot-we were at Warner Brothers, we were there right next to each other-it was hard to watch because we didn’t know what was going through him. We just knew that he wasn’t happy.”
When it comes to Matthew’s addiction struggles, George said: “I had no idea he was doing what, 12 Vicodin a day and all the stuff he talked about, all that heartbreaking stuff.”
He added: “It also just tells you that success and money and all those things, it doesn’t just automatically bring you happiness. You have to be happy with yourself and your life.” Prior to his death in October due to the acute effects of ketamine, Mathew once said that he didn’t want to be remembered just as a ‘Friends’ star.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office said in an autopsy report last week that Perry, who publicly struggled with drinking and drug use for decades, died from the “acute effects” of ketamine, an anesthetic with psychedelic properties.
Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles on Oct. 28. He was 54. The medical examiner’s office said that drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of an opioid, buprenorphine, had contributed to his death.
But the autopsy ascribed his death primarily to “the acute effects of ketamine.” Ketamine is a powerful anesthetic that has become increasingly popular as an alternative therapy for depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and other hard-to-treat mental health problems. It is also used recreationally. -

Kevin Costner and singer Jewel are sparking romance rumors after appearing together at a charity event in the Caribbean. Photos obtained by TMZ show Jewel speaking into a microphone and appearing to sit on Costner’s lap, with his arms around her waist. The two were on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands for a tennis fundraiser for the Inspiring Children Foundation, an organization started by Jewel.
Sources told TMZ the pair had flown to the Caribbean together, and hung out longer than the event, saying, “There was definitely something going on. They were flirty, and when they were together, it was like they both just lit up.”
Jewel mentioned the “Yellowstone” star on social media while recapping the event for fans. She shared a reel of photos, including a group photo featuring her and Costner.
“Every year, my foundation @inspiringchildren and I go to Necker Island to help host a tennis event w @richardbranson to raise funds for our kids. Amazing players like @geniebouchard come and support us in playing doubles with the folks who come… it’s an incredible time, and one I use to relax, rest and play w my son!” the 49-year-old wrote in the caption.
She also thanked Costner, writing, “@kevincostnermodernwest was kind enough to mentor our kids this year, and Sir Richard was his usual inspiring self- who also plays a mean game of doubles!” Representatives for both parties did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. Earlier this year, Costner finalized his divorce from his wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner, with whom he has three children.

‘I thought I was gonna die’ Sydney Sweeney recalls brush with death moment on set after a spider bite
Many people share a common fear of spiders, and Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney is no exception. The actress, busy filming for her upcoming project Anyone But You, recently disclosed a frightening experience on set. During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sydney revealed the details of the terrifying event while filming a scene with a trained spider. She revealed the moment when she truly thought she might die.
While discussing her role in the upcoming film Anyone But You on NBC’s show, the Euphoria actress shared the challenges of her character. Despite the animal being deemed safe to work with, Sydney Sweeney revealed that she was still bitten by a trained spider. Sydney was supposed to record a dramatic shot of herself coming across a huntsman spider on her partner’s underwear in one of the scenes. “They told me it was trained,” she said. I don’t know how you train a freaking spider. There’s no way.”
When asked what happened next the actress said “The thing just starts biting me,” she continued by explaining that the team had assumed she might be acting as her scream became more intense, but they were unaware that it was genuinely severe. “But we’re in the middle of the scene, and I’m supposed to be screaming. But then my screaming got a little serious.”
“They thought I was making really serious dramatic choices in a rom-com. It was terrible. So no one cut. So I’m just standing there with this spider on my arm, biting me, and I’m screaming, and just everyone’s watching.” She added.
Luckily, Glen saw what was really going on and intervened to aid. Sydney’s injuries were treated by the team medic, who made the hilarious remark that she had become Spider-Woman as a result of the bite. “That was, like, a soul scream. I thought I was gonna die. Well, I was like, ‘It’s poisonous. I’m gonna die.’”

James Cameron confirms Kate Winslet will be back as Ronal in ‘Avatar 3’
Filmmaker James Cameron confirmed that along with actress Kate Winslet he was working on Avatar 3. James said the project’s post-production schedule was ‘hectic’, but the film was due for release on Christmas 2025.
James said in an interview that Kate would once again play Ronal. While Kate’s involvement in Avatar: The Way of Water was relatively minimal, it sounded like she would have more to do in the third film.
The director said Kate was in touch with a real-life shaman to learn more about her role. “When you see her doing that purification ritual to try to revive Kitty in the film and some of the stuff that she’s going to do in the third movie is based on actual practice,” he said.

Kajol would never do scenes where she gets molested
Actor Kajol has shared why she would not do ‘scenes that require (her) to be molested’. Speaking at the Netflix Film Actors’ Roundtable 2023, Kajol accepted that she has been part of films where she has had to do such scenes. She added that such scenes are ‘very very very uncomfortable and very disturbing’.
Kajol said, “It has always been my take as an actor that I’ll not do scenes that require me to be either molested or in any which way show me in a place where I don’t want to be because I think as actors when we do a shot, we’re feeling it, we’re really feeling it. So yes, we are actors up to a point but the camera I feel is one of those things it’s like man-made magic and it tends to capture it if you’re not being honest in front of it. At times like this, you need to be honest.”
She also said, “That’s been my personal this thing on it that, ‘No, I don’t want to do this. I don’t feel comfortable. I don’t feel comfortable when I have to act out a scene where I am being physically abused or molested’…I have done it, it’s not that I haven’t. But it’s very very very uncomfortable and very disturbing. And I don’t feel I need to do it to prove a point. I can prove my point to be a good actor in 100 different other ways, I don’t need this particular experience.”
Kajol has been part of several films where she had to shoot molestation scenes. The movies include–Baazigar (1993), Ishq (1997), and Dushman (1998). In Lust Stories 2 (2023), Kajol played a character who was abused by her partner. Though the abuse scenes weren’t shown, her character was shown to have bruises on her face.
Kajol was last seen in series The Trial – Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha, which was helmed by Suparn Varma. The actor was also part of Lust Stories 2. She will be seen with Kriti Sanon in Do Patti. Helmed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, Do Patti is produced by Kathha Pictures and co-produced by Kriti Sanon, co-written by Kanika Dhillon and will stream exclusively on Netflix. -

Mast Mein Rehne Ka: Jackie and Neena Gupta film is feel-good and effortless
Leave aside good messaging or bad, strong filmmaking or not — we’re witnessing a spanking-new mini-renaissance in Hindi cinema. After the staid and occasionally engaging Sam Bahadur and baffling monstrosity that was Animal, two films from two starkly contrasting worlds and raisons d’être — Joram and The Archies — vie for the audience’s attention (and I’m not even considering the perfect streaming vehicle Kadak Singh on grounds of relative recentness). And this is just 10 days of December.
In the middle of all this splendid plenty, Vijay Maurya’s Mast Mein Rehne Ka breaks the mould somewhat. Minus any pre-release publicity, minus a hyped star cast, minus any expectation for the moviegoer, this sweet little diptych achieves what most of our recent big-screen and OTT releases (maybe with the exception of 12th Fail, with its austerity and heart) have failed to.
At the outset a slice-of-life geriatric romance straight out of a Modern Love: Mumbai episode propelled by the Macguffin of neighbourhood robberies, Mast Mein Rehne Ka hits you like a bolt from the blue (of course without the intention to hurt). It is incredibly well-acted and beautifully shot, delivering not only a winsome portmanteau of two shorter films bumping into each other as if in a city park to say hello, but a stirring commentary on multifarious lonelinesses and an indulgent portrait of the city itself.
Jackie Shroff is Kamath, a taciturn and lonely 75-year-old widower who likes to spend his time gazing at the leaping waves or guzzling frothy beer and chicken lollipop every week. Early into the film, his house is broken into by Nanhe, a down-on-his-luck tailor trying his best to stand on his two feet in the city of dreams. An anticlimactic scuffle ensues and the clumsy debutant bungles his first-ever burglary. Kamath survives the blow to his nose and — after a vaudeville encounter with law enforcement helped by the rappy title song — runs into Mrs Handa (Neena Gupta) a potty-mouth but effervescent sexagenarian who has just returned from Canada. Yet, what heightens your adoration of this film in light of the above observations is the fact that it doesn’t allow weighty trifles to encumber its storytelling. Director Maurya and cinematographer Nagaraj Rathinam are generous in allowing two out of every five frames to cliché and there are lines that feel especially stagey in a script that is otherwise free-flowing and inventive. But as I said, Mast Mein Rehne Ka is the first acolyte of its title, and that isn’t to celebrate the low-hanging fruit but to applaud the authenticity and purpose of telling the story and eschewing the frills.
Monica Panwar and Abhishek Chauhan play the other two protagonists in the quartet that are somehow reminiscent of the crackerjack lead pair of Joyland. He is Nanhe, the bumbling, soft-spoken migrant tailor intent on pursuing his practice no matter the circumstances. She is the loutish tramp with boot polish on her face, making a living on the streets and telling off anyone at the drop of a hat. While Chauhan feels both restrained and strained in his absorption of the character, Panwar has a raw ferocity about her, and I have to say her submission to a character that’s so far away from her station in life as I understand it — is rocket fuel for the audience’s investment in the story. -

Ranbir’s Animal character is toxic, admits on-screen sister Saloni Batra
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal has been slammed by a section of people and termed ‘misogynistic’. Many are also criticising Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal character. Now, in an interview with DNA, actor Saloni Batra has opened up about how Ranbir’s character in Animal is problematic. Saloni essayed the role of Ranbir’s sister in the Sandeep Reddy Vanga film. The actor admitted the way Ranbir’s character Rannvijay Singh ‘talks and behaves is toxic’.
Saloni Batra said, “I am a facilitator. It’s my job as an actor to facilitate what an artiste wants to bring the table, who are the creators. Now, they have a vision about this character in this world. This character, the way he talks and behaves, is toxic. But the story is about him and Sandeep sir (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) has chosen to tell his story in his way. As an audience, it is our responsibility to watch and decide what is right and wrong. If that character is firing a gun in the college, it doesn’t mean it’s right.”
She added, “This is a vision of an artiste for entertainment. In this world, the character (Ranbir Kapoor’s Rannvijay Singh aka Vijay) stands true but like I said, it is your responsibility as an audience that you don’t take it home. You came to the theatre and were entertained. And that is the job of cinema. You don’t have to learn from it. You don’t have to take it back home and tell people that it’s ok to say such things to women… As a woman, I would be offended if someone in real life did that to me. But, such people exist. And this story is about one such story. The director is not being a teacher. He is being an entertainer.”
An excerpt from the Hindustan Times’ Animal movie review read, “If filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh bothered you, wait till you watch Animal that presents Ranbir as an epitome of misogyny, and he has no qualms about it. Whether it’s telling his younger sister to drink wine and not whiskey, or taking a jibe at the elder one, a Harvard graduate, for just saying , ‘Chup raho, bas karo (Keep quiet)’ in her marriage; he’s loved, hated and misunderstood all at once. As the entitled, rich spoilt brat, Ranvijay considers himself the man in-charge after his father, so if the ladies of the houses (read sisters) are in any trouble, he would take law in his hand to serve people right.”

Margot Robbie reveals she was asked to push ‘Barbie’ release by ‘Oppenheimer’ producer
In recent times, ‘Barbie’ actress Margot Robbie and ‘Oppenheimer’ actor Cillian Murphy got together to talk about their works in an episode of Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors.’ This is when the actress told Cillian that she was told to push the release date by one of three producers of ‘Oppenheimer.’
Margot told Murphy, “One of your producers, Chuck Roven, called me, because we worked together on some other projects. And he was like, ‘I think you guys should move your date.’ And I was like, ‘We’re not moving our date. If you’re scared to be up against us, then you move your date.’ And he’s like, ‘We’re not moving our date. I just think it’d be better for you to move.’ And I was like, ‘We’re not moving!’ I think this is a really great pairing, actually. It’s a perfect double billing, ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie.’” Upon hearing this, the ‘Peaky Blinders’ star responded, “That was a good instinct.”
Continuing the conversation, Cillian went on to ask Margot if we should be expecting ‘Barbie 2.’ She revealed, “We put everything into that movie and it’s so good that I’m like ‘Oh no.’ I’m also so proud of the fact that it was an original and not a sequel or prequel, which is getting rare and rarer these days. Your movie too is original which is amazing that we both got theatrical opportunities for original ideas. The part of me would be like ‘Oh No’ if we do ‘Barbie 2’…I don’t know… But at the same time, I would do anything to be back on that set. I would do anything to be back on sets with Ryan (Gosling, co-actor) and Greta (Gerwig, director). Playing Barbie is the best. It’s so joyful. so, it’s not a no but also I would take a lot to live up to.”
‘Barbie’ is directed by Greta Gerwig while ‘Oppenheimer’ belongs to Christopher Nolan. Having the same release date worldwide, July 21, both movies clashed at the box office and were two of the massive releases of this year. -

In legal documents obtained by TMZ.com, Sofia called Brown a “mentally unstable stalker” with “a delusional belief he personally knows her and has a relationship with her and her family.” She added that his “aggressive and harassing conduct” has caused her anxiety and emotional distress and made her fear for her safety.
In her filing, the actress claimed Brown made several attempts to contact her and her son including gaining unauthorised access to the gated community where she lives back in July. -

Halle Berry reveals Angelina Jolie and her bonded over ‘divorces and exes’
Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie are currently prepping for their joint production. Titled Maude v Maude, the film will be produced by the two actors and will have them sharing the screen space. Halle has now revealed in an interview to Variety that they had a rocky start as they began work on the project but they eventually bonded over their ‘divorces and exes’. “We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,” said Halle Berry. Calling Angelina “formidable”, Halle further said that she was “thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view”. She didn’t reveal what led the two of them to have a rocky start but added, ““We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes. We bonded, let’s say that.”
In the same interview, Halle revealed that their film Maude v Maude will somewhat be a mix of Mr and Mrs Smith and Mission: Impossible with a comedic twist. She hinted that she and Angelina Jolie will be battling “physically and intellectually” in the film.
Halle Berry’s divorce
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez’ divorce was finalised this year. According to a report by Page Six, a Los Angeles court ordered Halle Berry to pay $8000 a month to Olivier in child support for their 9-year-old son, Maceo.
Angelina’s divorce
Angelina is currently in an ugly tussle with ex-husband Brad Pitt over custody battle, property and other issues. She and Brad have six kids together: Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10. Ranbir calls Animal ‘adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’
Actor Ranbir Kapoor has described his upcoming film Animal as “adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”. As per news agency PTI, Ranbir also said he has played the “most complex character” of his life in Animal. The actor interacted with the media at the trailer launch event of Animal. At the event, Ranbir was asked to describe the film and he said, “Animal is basically the adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. If I had to describe this story in a line, then it’s about a man who goes to any length to protect his family. That’s what the core of the film is.” Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was a 2001 family drama helmed by Karan Johar.
On his character, Ranbir also said that he won’t call it “darkness but it is the most complex character I have played”. Talking about violence, Ranbir added, “That you hit someone and blood comes out, you’ll get bored after 10 seconds. Violence is about the mind, what it thinks, what the human mind is capable of? What is right or wrong, where society is concerned? Is Bobby sir the antagonist or I am the antagonist? Who is right, who is wrong? These are questions as a society, audience, we will start asking after this film.”
Talking about Bobby Deol, Ranbir said that he grew up watching him. He added that when he got a chance to work with Bobby he realised they were similar as people. Ranbir said that as both are Punjabis, so there was an instant connection. He recalled that they were shooting shirtless in London in minus 4 degree temperature but “there was so much warmth between us” adding that they will cherish the bond forever.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film’s trailer showcases a violent world set against the backdrop of a troubled relationship between Ranbir’s Arjun Singh and his father Balbir Singh, played by Anil Kapoor.
