Deepika Padukone scripts history, to get a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2026

Deepika Padukone has created history by becoming the first Indian actor to be named one of the honourees for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2026 in the Motion Pictures category. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce revealed the list live, placing Padukone alongside international stars like Demi Moore, Rachel McAdams, Emily Blunt, Timothe Chalamet, Rami Malek, and Stanley Tucci.

The honourees were chosen from hundreds of nominations by a panel during a meeting held on June 20. The selection was later approved by the Chamber’s board of directors. At the event, which was streamed live, Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros, Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, said, “We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined on the Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026.”

He further added, “These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honour them with this well-deserved recognition.”

Deepika has long been regarded as a trendsetting figure beyond India. In 2018, she was included in TIME magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world. She also received the TIME100 Impact Award for her work on mental health awareness and film campaigns.

Actor Paresh Rawal clarified that he is back to being a part of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ over a month after announcing his exit from the film. During his appearance on a podcast recently, the popular actor said things have been sorted with the film’s team, and he has joined his ‘friends for many years’ Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty in the Priyadarshan-directorial. Rawal, who played the iconic Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in the comedy franchise, told Himanshu Mehta on his podcast, “Nahi controversy kuch nahi hai (No, there is no controversy). I believe that when people have loved something so much, then you have to be extra careful.”

He shared that he just wanted everyone associated with the film to put more effort into work. “It is our responsibility toward the audience. The audience has given you so much adulation. You can’t take things for granted. Mehnat karke unko do (Work hard and give them the film). So I was of the opinion that sab saath mein aaye, mehnat karein. Aur kuch nahin (Everyone should come together, work hard). It is all resolved now,” he explained.

When asked to comment on the trio finally coming back to lead the beloved franchise, Rawal talked about his wish for everyone to be doing better.

After Rawal’s abrupt exit from the film, Akshay Kumar’s production house filed a Rs 25 crore suit against him, claiming that his actions caused financial losses and disrupted the production schedule.

‘Hope I die with my shoes on’: Aamir Khan says Mahabharat could be his last spectacle

Actor Aamir Khan has hinted at his final film project, which could be a grand cinematic spectacle. The 60-year-old, who has spoken about his desire to make ‘Mahabharat’ for long, stated that the epic-drama might be his last movie. “I hope I die with my shoes on…” he said while talking about the film. The ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ actor feels that the grandeur of this project is going to be such that after making the film based on India’s ancient text by sage Ved Vyas, he will have nothing else left to do.
The superstar raved about the sheer grandeur and emotional resonance of ‘Mahabharat’ in a podcast with Raj Shamani. While speaking about the scale of creating the epic on-screen, he said, “It’s layered, it has emotion, it has scale, everything you find in the world, you will find in ‘Mahabharat’.”
He further said, “Maybe after doing this, I will feel that I have nothing left to do. I cannot do anything after this, as the material of this film is going to be like that.”
The actor concluded, “I hope that I die with my shoes on, but since you are asking, this is the one thing I can think of. Perhaps after this, I will feel that I don’t need to do anything else.”
In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Aamir spoke about his vision for ‘Mahabharat’ and said, “That’s one of my biggest ambitions. We’ll see who we should cast based on who’s appropriate for which part.”
The actor further said, “I don’t think you can tell the ‘Mahabharat’ in one film, so it will be multiple films. I am looking at the large scale.” While pointing out that the film might need multiple directors, he concluded, “To complete it within a set time, we will need more than one director.”

Rekha’s cult classic Umrao Jaan set to return to theatres

One of Indian cinema’s most iconic films, ‘Umrao Jaan’, starring the legendary actor Rekha, is set to return to the big screen. It is returning to theatres on June 27, restored in 4K resolution.
The 1981 classic has undergone restoration led by the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), bringing the 19th-century poetic epic to life for a new generation of cinephiles.
Directed by Muzaffar Ali, ‘Umrao Jaan’ is a cinematic gem celebrated for its soulful storytelling, music, and rich portrayal of Awadhi culture. The film was originally produced by SK Jain & Sons and Integrated Films, and has long been revered for Rekha’s unforgettable portrayal of the courtesan-poet, a performance that earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress.
PVR Inox announced the re-release on Instagram. “A story of elegance, love, and timeless music! Revisit Umrao Jaan in stunning 4K – a cinematic jewel restored, reimagined, and reborn with our Curated Shows. #UmraoJaan re-releasing at PVR INOX on June 27!,” read the caption.

Speaking about the film’s revival, Ali said in a statement, “Umrao Jaan was not just a film – it was a journey into the soul of a lost culture, a forgotten tehzeeb. Through her pain, poetry, and grace, we tried to resurrect the elegance of an era where love and longing spoke in verse. I had actors who brought a lot of heft to their characters, and then there was Rekha, who lived Umrao Jaan and truly immortalised it. I am thrilled that the film is back on the big screen for a whole new generation to discover a time and culture that’s very much a part of our being.”

Triptii Dimri bags biggest pay check amid Vanga-Deepika row

After actor Deepika Padukone’s exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’, actor Triptii Dimri was roped in opposite Prabhas. India Today has exclusively learnt that the ‘Animal’ actor has secured her biggest pay cheque yet, a massive Rs 6 crore, for her role in the upcoming action entertainer.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Spirit’ marks a major career milestone for Triptii. The film is currently in the pre-production phase and is expected to go on floors in October. With Prabhas and Triptii in the lead roles and Vanga as the director, the film is already one of the most anticipated pan-India releases.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is furious after Deepika’s rumoured exit from his film. He shared a cryptic post slamming the ‘dirty PR work of an actor’. In a strongly-worded post, he accused the unnamed actor of putting down a younger co-star and ‘ousting’ his story.
It was earlier speculated that Deepika received the fattest pay cheque to play the female lead opposite in ‘Spirit’.

  • Salman Khan trains in low-oxygen condition for war-drama on Galwan valley clash

Actor Salman Khan is all set to portray the iconic role of Galwan Valley war hero Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu. While training for his upcoming epic war drama based on the 2020 Indo-China clash, he is leaving no stones unturned. Khan has been focusing on staying true to playing a decorated officer as it’s about ‘honouring a legacy.’
While speaking about the actor’s ongoing intense prep work for the larger-than-life character, an independent industry source said, “Given the high-altitude challenges of shooting in Leh and the physical demands of portraying a decorated Army officer like Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, Salman has committed to an intense training regimen. He’s not just preparing to carry the weight of the uniform – he’s carrying the weight of the story. The AK-47 he’ll be seen with is symbolic, but the real test is enduring the thinner air, long shoots, and rugged terrain. This prep isn’t just physical; it’s about doing justice to a national hero.”
The source further said, “Salman is approaching this role with the utmost sincerity. He understands the responsibility of portraying someone like Colonel Babu – it’s not just about getting the physicality right; it’s about honouring a legacy. He’s training not just for the camera, but out of respect for every soldier who serves the nation.”
The 2020 Galwan Valley clash was a violent skirmish between Indian and Chinese troops, escalating tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). It led to casualties on both sides, with reports indicating at least 20 Indian soldiers and 45 Chinese soldiers killed. Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu won the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously for his valour during the tensions with China in the Galwan valley.
According to an earlier Bollywood Hungama report, the movie is touted to be based on the novel ‘India’s Most Fearless 3’ by Rahul Singh and Shiv Aroor. The epic film will be directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The war drama is expected to go on floors in the second-half of 2025.

Happy didn’t get typecast doing only special songs in films: Tamannaah

Actor Tamannah Bhatia says whether it is her special songs in movies, her performance in films or on OTT, as an entertainer, her aim is to reach out to her audience.
The actor, who has featured in special appearance in a song in some of the recent films like Kannada blockbuster “KGF: Chapter 1” starring Yash, Rajnikanth-led “Jailer”, “Stree 2”, John Abraham’s “Vedaa” and Ajay Devgn’s “Raid 2”, said song is “one of the many things” she does.
“It happens with a lot of people, they do get typecast. But it hasn’t happened with me because I do long format, features, and I work in different languages, and industries. I work on stage, I make reels. I’m an entertainer. I’m only interested in reaching people,” Bhatia told PTI in an interview.
“I don’t consider any platform small or big. My job is to entertain people in some way, and whenever I get that opportunity, I give it my all with respect and interest, I give it my all. I hope people like it.”
The actor said she has a slew of exciting films in the pipeline in Bollywood like “Ranger” with Ajay Devgn, Rakesh Maria biopic with John Abraham, “No Entry” sequel and folk thriller “Vvan” with Sidharth Malhotra. “Everything leads to something. It’s a misnomer that if you do something, you become typecast. I’ve done a lot of songs, if you count how many songs I’ve done, you will be stunned. But every song has either given me a connection with the people or taught me a little dance.

Saiyami Kher recalls facing casting couch at 19: Was asked to make compromises

Actor Saiyami Kher, who made her Bollywood debut with Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirzya’, recently made a revelation about her struggling days. Saiyami said that she was asked to compromise for a role in a Telugu movie.
Saiyami in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, recalled the interaction with a female casting agent and said, “I have been very fortunate with regards to all the offers I have received. In the film industry, there was this one agent who called me for a Telugu film when I was 19 or 20 years old. She said, ‘You know, you will have to make compromises.’ I was trying to test her, because it was a woman saying it to another woman. I felt that deeply.”
She further added, “So I said, ‘Ma’am, I’m not understanding what you are saying.’ I kept repeating that. And then finally she said, ‘See, you have to understand.’ So I said, ‘I’m sorry that you feel I’m someone who needs to go down this route. There are certain limits I have never crossed in my life.’ So yes, I have experienced it once, but it was just that one time when a woman actually asked me this.”
Saiyami was paired opposite Anil Kapoor’s son, Harshvardhan Kapoor in ‘Mirzya.’ She later featured in movies such as ‘Choked,’ ‘Unpaused,’ and Telugu films like Nagarjuna’s ‘Wild Dog’ and ‘Highway.’ She was also praised for her roles in R Balki’s ‘Ghoomer,’ co-starring Abhishek Bachchan and Tahira Kashyap’s ‘Sharmajee Ki Beti.’
Saiyami was last seen in Sunny Deol-starrer action-drama ‘Jaat’ where she played Sub-Inspector Vijaya Lakshmi. The Gopichand Malineni directorial also featured Randeep Hooda, Regina Cassandra, Vineet Kumar Singh and others in crucial roles.
Saiyami is the granddaughter of late actor Usha Kiran and niece of actor Tanvi Azmi.

  • Suniel Shetty says he, Akshay were clueless about Paresh Rawal quitting Hera Pheri 3

Suniel Shetty says he, Akshay were clueless about Paresh Rawal quitting Hera Pheri 3

Paresh Rawal shocked everyone with his sudden decision to exit Priyadarshan’s Hera Pheri 3. Now, in an interview with India Today, Suniel Shetty also expressed shock at Paresh’s decision and revealed that even Akshay Kumar is clueless about it.
When asked about Paresh’s decision to quit Hera Pheri 3, Suniel said he was clueless about it and added, “This is absolutely shocking. I first thought about texting him, and then I thought I’d meet him and would discuss it. I have had no word about it with anybody. Even Akshay is clueless as to what happened.”
He further admitted, “This is a crisis. We are in the middle of this film, and this is the biggest shock. We were going to begin shooting next year. We had already started, in fact. We shot a promo. It’s a big thing. This is so shocking. I can’t make sense of this. And you know who sent it? Athiya and Ahaan – they both sent it to me within 15 minutes, asking ‘papa what is this?’. And I was here doing my interviews, and I felt like ‘holy s***’.”
After Paresh confirmed quitting Hera Pheri 3, there was speculation that he stepped away due to creative differences with the makers, and some even speculated that he left the film due to remuneration issues. However, in an interview with Mid-Day, the actor refuted any such rumours and revealed, “I know it came as a shock to many. We three make a great combination with Priyadarshanji directing us, but the fact is that I opted out because today I don’t feel like a part of it.”
The Hera Pheri franchise started with Priyadarshan’s Hera Pheri in 2000 and introduced the iconic trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty to Bollywood. The audience’s love for the slapstick comedy, one-liners and the characters of the film made it a cult classic.
