  • Sherlyn Chopra’s film ‘Kamasutra 3D’ look unveiled

Sherlyn Chopra’s film ‘Kamasutra 3D’ look unveiled

The first look of ‘Kamasutra 3D’, starring Sherlyn Chopra, was unveiled at NFDC’s film bazaar which is being held on the sidelines of International Film Festival of India ( IFFI) 2012 in Goa. Directed by Rupesh Paul, the film, based on Vatsyayan’s ‘Kamasutra’, grabbed attention with Sherlyn being cast in the lead.

This is the first major film role for Sherlyn, who has done bit roles in a few Bollywood films including ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ and ‘Raqeeb’.

The bombshell, who approached Playboy voluntarily to pose nude for them, has shed her clothes in this film as well. “Rupesh Paul Productions Limited, the official production house of the movie is here in the film bazaar, for promotions,” a spokesman for the movie said. “Rest of the cast list will be out by this week.

The posters of the movie have been launched in the American film market,” the spokesman added. The Kerala-born director of the movie has made films such as ‘Laptop’ and the Hollywood production ‘Saint Dracula 3D’. “Yet another highlight is that the most debated text has been turned into a 3D film,” said the spokesperson.

The production team claims that the movie is all set in the backdrop of the real historical milieu. “‘Kamasutra 3D’ would be the first in the ‘Kamasutra’ trilogy and the second and the third would be 4D and 5D respectively,” he said.

Jacqueline set to impress with stunts in ‘Race 2’

Actress Jacqueline Feranandez showed her daring side when she performed a combat sequence in her upcoming slick thriller “Race 2”. In the film, Jacqueline will be seen performing a fencing sequence using swords and knives, with Saif Ali Khan in tow. The film releases Jan 25. Fencing is a sport of armed combat using three weapons – foil, epee and saber. Jacqueline learned and performed the epee and sabre centredfencing sequence, which combines the use of swords, knives and cavalry weapons. “We got two experts from Vietnam to teach her.

A sequence like this needs style and grace and you can’t hurry it up or it will not be justified. Jacqueline, on her part, worked hard for two months to learn the moves,” said Abbas of the director duo Abbas-Mustan. “She wore a fitted costume showing off her curves, with her hair flowing loose. Head gear is worn during fencing, but if we did that people would have assumed a stunt double was doing the scene. So we took cinematic liberty and left her hair loose which looks good with the moves and proves that she’s doing the stunt,” he added. The actress was gung-ho about performing her stunts and refused to use a body double. “When Jacqueline was briefed about the scene, she was quite excited and decided that she wanted to perform the stunt herself,” said an insider. “On the day of the shoot, Peter Haines (action director) and Abbas- Mustan were amazed with how much she had learned. In addition to the fencing combat, the scene also involved front and back flips which she practiced for extensively and finally gave her take without even any harness,” the insider added.

  • Sienna posed Nude during Pregnancy

    Sienna posed Nude during Pregnancy

Sienna Miller posed nude for a portrait just weeks before she gave birth to her daughter Marlowe, it has been revealed. The 30-yearold actress posed for British artist Jonathan Yeo in July shortly before her due date, letting him capture her in the later stages of her pregnancy.

Jonathan, whose previous work includes paintings of Dennis Hopper and Nicole Kidman, described the portrait as a “‘tribute to Sienna’s courage and self-confidence’” and praised her for stripping off for the artwork. “I can think of many figures whose public currency in part revolves around their appearance, who would prefer to hide themselves away for nine months,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“Sienna is usually so petite and a wonderful fashion clotheshorse and the fact she is transformed means it has all the more impact,” he said.

Miller, who gave birth to her first child with actor husband Tom Sturridge, first met the artist in Los Angeles, California, eight years ago and the pair have remained close friends since.

This portrait will be the sixth she has sat for in his London studio and Jonathan thinks it is the most important artwork so far.

  • Movie Review:Trouble with the Curve

    Movie Review:Trouble with the Curve

Cast: Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake
    Direction: Robert Lorenz
    Genre: Drama
    Duration: 1 hour 51 minutes

STORY: A cranky old baseball scout is forced to face his daughter, past regrets on what could be his last assignments…

MOVIE REVIEW: Gus Lobel (Clint Eastwood) has been one of the best Baseball scouts around for a long time. His experienced judgement is however doubted by a younger sports manager who believes mathematical statistics are more important than understanding of the game and the player.

Gus is given one last chance to prove his mettle and that he still has it in him. Gus’ estranged daughter Mickey (Amy Adams) decides to accompany him on his last recruiting assignment. The two end up ‘talking’ for a change, venting the anger, bottled up emotions and unspoken words.

True to Eastwood’s style, Trouble with the Curve is purely an emotional human drama, revolving around buried emotions. The pace is slow but that doesn’t matter as the father-daughter strained relationship touches your heart. You can identify with their dilemmas, rapport, and reservations.

Their issues are as realistic as they can get. An aloof father who’s super protective of his daughter, daughter joining her father on his last trip, keeping aside their past only to save his job..Trouble with the Curve is a film which every father should watch with his daughter. Justin Timberlake plays an unimportant role but is impressive. The film belongs to Amy Adams.

The actress is brilliant as the girl dealing with a constant fear of losing the people she loves. Clint Eastwood is good as ever. No significant events happen in the film, it’s about how you deal with situations when life happens to you. It’s a simple story, brilliantly told.

  • Movie Review:Son of Sardaar

    Movie Review:Son of Sardaar

Cast: Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Juhi Chawla
    Direction: Ashwni Dhir
    Genre: Comedy
    Duration: 2 hours 20 minutes

STORY: A strapping sardaar travels home (Punjab) from UK, to claim ancestral property; only to be welcomed by another family of sardaars who’re age-old clandushmans. And the only escape is living-in with the enemy.

REVIEW: Move over Chicken Khurana, the real butter kukkad is here. And he’s here with a bang this Diwali – singing, dancing, flipping in the air – all in the mustard fields of Phagwara (that’s in Punjab, FYI), classic Bollywood ishtyle.

Except that this is a Singham getting Dabangg and Rowdier than any Rathore – on Punjabi steroids – and in total sardaar avatar. Hadippa! So bring out that tall glass of chilled lassi and let’s figure the why, what, who of this desi-ghee story. Jassi (Ajay Devgn) jaisa koi nahi.

He falls in love-at-first-sight, in a train with Sukhmeet (Sonakshi), call her Sukh please (she’s quite a ‘peace’ of work); and ends up as a guest in her mad-house full of comical sardaars – The Sandhus.

There’s the head-of-the-house Billu paaji (Sanjay Dutt), bros Tony (Mukul Dev) and Tito (Vindoo Dara Singh), who’ve sworn to never have ice-cream and cold-drinks (rumon- the-rocks is all he’s ever had, poor liver, sigh!) until they avenge their father’s death; and a kid sardaar who talks about ‘pegs’ (Patiala types).

Adding solid femme power to this macho sardaar story is Pammi (Juhi Chawla, delightful) Billu’s mooh-boli-biwi, Bebe (Tanuja) suffering from part-time memory lapses; and lastly Rajpreet the loved buffalo (who mooed this cheez?) The problem? The Sandhus have been vengefully thirsting for Jassi’s head, but can’t lay a sword on him because he’s their (unwanted) house-guest (mehmaan equals bhagwan, remember?), he even feigns ‘paira-te-laces’ (paralyses) to stay ‘home’ to save his life. Ajay Devgn convincingly plays son-of-thesoil with power, playfulness and colorful pagdis in every scene. He switches from comedy, action and romance flippantly, impressing with funny lines, gimmicks atop a ghodi (Jassi again) and tons of PJJs (poor-Punju-jokes).

Sonakshi throws in another ‘heavy-weight’ performance. In Ajay’s own words, “kaafi bhaari hai” (read: weight). She does her usual dance routine (with ceetees et al), spouts ‘chal jhoota’ to all men, and plays the moophat girl in true sardarni style. Sanjay Dutt, as the supporting sardaar, is a delight to watch

His gussa makes you giggle and his angry outbursts are adorable. Juhi Chawla lights up the screen with her comic timing as impeccable as ever. The coy-cum-cutesy scenes between Dutt and Chawla are amongst the highlights of this one.

The other members of this madhouse, Vindoo Dara Singh and Mukul Dev also pack a knockout Punjabi-punch with their dumb’n’dumber act. Ashwni Dhir entertains in parts, with a plenty of Punju humour and goofy oneliners that crack you up. While handling all the Jaswinders, Parminders, Happys and Sweetys, he loses the plot, stretching it all around the sarson-ka-khet (and leaving some behind).

This is a mass-entertainer, strung together with a series of Santa- Banta jokes, spiked solidly with macho sardaarisms. Like Jassi says, “Kabhi toh hasliya karo”, this one makes you laugh – in parts!

  • Jab Tak Hai Jaan

    Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan,Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma
    Direction: Yash Chopra
    Genre: Romance
    Duration: 3 hours

STORY: Through a personal diary account a carefree media professional discovers that a Indian Army man who fascinates her has a love interest tucked away in London. Will she be able to bridge the gap and get close to him? Or will his past come back to haunt?

REVIEW: Jab Tak Hai Jaan is the swan song of Yash Chopra, the big daddy of romance. Every frame is picture perfect, the emotions are well nuanced. But there is one inherent flaw–the story by Aditya Chopra is hackneyed. Shah Rukh Khan is Samar Anand a bomb disposal expert from the Indian army posted in Ladakh.

He’s a brave heart(of the kind you’ve seen in Hollywood movies like Livewire, Hurt Locker) who has defused close to a hundred bombs without bothering to ever wear a safety suit. His colleagues laud him and refer to him as the man who cannot die.

Samar goes about defusing bombs with such ease; even your fear of the bomb is temporarily suspended, at least through the duration of this film.

On the personal front, Samar is a brooder and sleeps with his personal diary strapped close to his chest. Anushkha Sharma (Akira Rai), a documentary filmmaker, who is also in Ladakh, accidentally finds herself in possession of Samar’s diary. Since no one has ever told her that it is bad manners to read another person’s diary, she leafs through its contents.

And discovers that the army man doesn’t smile because of his poignant past. The story unfolds to tell you that in his growing up years Samar, who did odd jobs in London, to make ends meet was footloose till he fell headover- heels-love-with a rich heiress Katrina Kaif (Meera Thappar).

Meera is engaged to be married to a gora but she finds herself inexplicably drawn to the desi Samar; the man who teaches her how to shed her inhibitions and live life king-size. A road-accident in London changes the course of Meera-Samar’s happy love story and Samar finds himself back in Ladakh diffusing bombs. In this strife ridden atmosphere, his path crosses that of Akira; a young girl, who falls for him.

Before Samar and Akira’s acquaintance turns into anything deeper, the film plot lands Samar back in London, where he meets with a road accident yet again. This time, the hospital authorities, diagnose him with retrograde amnesia… and say he has been in a time warp of sorts for close to a decade.

The only one, who can bring him back from the brink, is his first love Meera. And a new chapter unfolds. Shah Rukh Khan is the backbone of JTHJ. He’s charismatic as the lover and enigmatic as the army guy.

Katrina Kaif is a smart dresser and looks stunning. She’s also a delight to watch in the song Ishq Shava, she having become this dramatic Bollywood film dancer.

But when it comes to handling the intense emotional scenes, Kat is still a Barbie doll, beautiful but plastic. Anushka Sharma is easy on the eye and an ideal fit in the motor-mouth parts. She has the perfect 10 figure but frankly she is saddled with an unsatisfying role

A R Rahman’s music–be it the Challa track or the Heer song never grew on the charts; but in the film, the music charms you because the lead actors infuse life into the songs. Frankly if someone were to ask what’s the bonus you take back from JTHJ.

It’s the end-credit visuals of Yash Chopra horsing around with his actors or immersed in deep discussion with his crew.

Katrina loses five kilos in two months

Size Zero may be passe, but Bollywood’s A-list women are not over with the weight loss tamasha. Yet.

The latest aspirant seems to be Katrina Kaif who lost five kilo in two months to fit her role for the upcoming YRF action thriller Dhoom 3. Apparently, the production house with a penchant for sari-clad voluptuous beauties, this time around wanted a slimmer and fitter leading lady. “Dhoom 3 is a tough film to shoot. Lots of action. And you need to be very, very fit and agile,” Katrina said.

Katrina who had once reportedly shed a few kilos for fitting into the role of Sheila and be able to belly dance in the much popular song from Tees Maar Khan, started losing weight again around two months back. This was around the time she wrapped up the shooting of Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

“I was or rather am still doing hard-core functional training. I get into it for about 90 minutes every day. Even when I was shooting in London last month, I had a trainer who helped me out. And here in India, I have appointed a trainer as well,” she added.

Story: Espionage becomes leaner, meaner and shadowy. Can James Bond still make the earth move — or the sky fall?

Movie Review: The first thing Bond (Craig) blows to bits in Skyfall is all those cracks about mid-life crises. Despite flunking his fitness test, Bond reveals how he’s fab at 50, making his vintage his most powerful weapon. As espionage changes from competing nations to individuals spreading violence for money and thrills, Bond grapples with ‘Silva’ Rodriguez (Bardem), former MI6 agent determined to destroy department head M (Dench) for having left him to Chinese mercy after he overstepped his brief. As Bond and Silva race with whistle- out-loud (WOL) action towards an edgy M, those watching Skyfall have a ball.

Right away, Skyfall is a love-bite to London, celebrating all that’s Brit and Bond-branded – clever since it leaves those younger Yankee spies looking a little plain. Realising history’s cash-worth, Skyfall plugs everything beautiful about the British — Tubes, tunnels and Tennyson, damp, rainy skies, humour sharp like a Savile Row suit, china bulldogs, even manual shaving kits — smoothly blended with explosive American pace. Plus Iberian charm, expressed oh-so-silkily by a beaming Bardem, perfect as the campy Silva, unbuttoning Bond’s shirt to go lovingly where no man has been before. Although Bond does rasp at him, “What makes you think this is my first time?” Well, well, Commander.

Roy Thomas has been appointed as the Deputy Director at New York State Mental Health Department by the Governor, Andrew M. Cuomo’s office. He is probably the only person of South Asian descent who is entrusted with this title in the history of the New York State Civil Service. During his last tenure of 5 years as the Chief of Service, his bold leadership and management was instrumental in transforming the Bronx Psychiatric Center into one of the leading hospitals in New York State. This landmark achievement has helped him to be chosen by the political leadership in Albany.

Nicole Kidman Quits ‘Real Sex’ Film

Nicole Kidman has pulled out of a new movie after being told that scenes of real sex are planned. The 45-year-old actress was set for a role in controversial director Lars von Trier’s project Nymphomaniac. “Nicole will not be a part of this movie,” the Daily Star quoted a source as saying. Other reports state that Kidman decided against doing the film as she is facing scheduling conflicts with her new film Grace of Monaco, which is currently shooting. To ease his suffering, Von Trier has added Uma Thurman, presumably in Kidman’s part.

    Movie Review: Premium Rush

Cast: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dania Ramirez, Michael
    Shannon, Jamie Chung
    Direction: David Koepp
    Genre: Action
    Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
    STORY:
Wilee ( Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is the best of New York’s daredevil bicycle couriers. However, when he picks up an envelope for delivery on a ‘premium rush’ priority, he finds himself racing against more than just the clock.

    MOVIE REVIEW:
While the plot and premise of Premium Rush is fairly simple and generic – the all-important message that must reach its intended recipient, come what may – this, for the most part, isn’t just a chase film.

The dashing Wilee eschews a nine-to-five desk job for the sheer thrill of being a bicycle messenger with a death wish – dodging speeding vehicles, pedestrians and open doors along the way. As if to underscore his rebellious streak, Wilee rides fast, with no brakes on his sports bicycle. “Brakes are death,” he nonchalantly tells his estranged and concerned girlfriend Vanessa ( Dania Ramirez), who is also a bike courier.

She sees his wild streak as a hindrance to them having a secure future. After all, it would only take a split-second of misjudgment for him to meet with a fatal accident whilst riding. Small wonder then, that Gordon-Levitt needed 31 stitches in his right arm while filming the movie. Wilee’s also got competition, in the form of the muscular and almost comical Manny (Wole Parks), who has his eye on Vanessa.

But this love triangle is put on the back-burner one day, when Nima ( Jamie Chung) hands Wilee a small white envelope that must be delivered downtown by 7.30 pm, the very same day. Enter the menacing bad cop Bobby Monday (very convincingly played by Michael Shannon), who has a nasty gambling habit coupled with a single-minded,almost obsessive need to get his hands on that envelope. Various jump cuts in the movie and cool map-style visuals help explain situations and embellish the story quite nicely.

The conversations between Wilee and Vanessa however, as they zip, dodge and weave their way through traffic come across as unnecessary and cheesy. There’s the obligatory moral dilemma thrown in too. That aside, Premium Rush is fairly coherent, the bike stunts are cool and the film is filled with fast-paced chases that will often have you at the edge of your seat.
