NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. He also paid homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Clad in a white kurta and pyjama, Modi paid homage to Father of the Nation by offering rose petals at his memorial and performing a ‘parikrama’ (circumambulation) around it.

Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister had tweeted a photo-story remembering the Bapu on his 147th birth anniversary.

“Gandhiji made this world a better place. His ideals, dedication to the poor & struggle against injustice inspire,” the Prime Minister said in another tweet.

Describing Lal Bahadur Shastri as a stalwart and the embodiment of strength and integrity, he shared a picture of him paying tribute to former Prime Minister at Vijay Ghat.
