USINPAC congratulates Satya Nadella, the new Microsoft CEO

WASHINGTON D.C. : US India Political Action Committee (USINPAC), a leading advocacy organization representing the over 3 million Indian Americans in the US congratulates Indian American Satya Nadella, who became the third ever CEO and the first Indian American to head the world’s largest software firm in its 38-year history.

As Nadella takes over as CEO today, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates steps down, as Chairman and his new official title will be founder and technology advisor. Nadella is a Microsoft veteran, having joined the company over 20 years ago. Born in India in 1967, Nadella studied Electrical Engineering at the Mangalore University before moving to the US to study computer science at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.

He originally worked at Microsoft rival Sun Microsystems before heading to Redmond to work on research for Microsoft’s online services division. He has held a number of roles inside the company: he’s worked in the company’s business division on with Microsoft Office but more importantly , he has been instrumental in transforming Microsoft’s cloud business. USINPAC Chairman, Sanjay Puri, congratulated Satya Nadella and said, “It is a great achievement by an Indian-American and also speaks to the openness of the United States in embracing the best and brightest.”
