Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi brings Adityanath’s life to screen

A film chronicling the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was announced on March 26. Titled Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi, the film is based on Shantanu Gupta’s book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister. A motion poster was also unveiled along with the announcement.
The motion poster features actor Anant Joshi portraying Yogi Adityanath, renouncing the world to serve people. Paresh Rawal’s voice can be heard in the background, saying, “Vo kuch nahi chahta tha, sab usko chahte the. Janta ne usko sarkar bana diya (He didn’t wish for anything. Everyone loved him. People made him a leader).”
Directed by Maharani 2 fame Ravindra Gautam, Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi also stars Dinesh Lal Yadav, Ajay Mengi, Pavan Malhotra, Rajesh Khattar, Garima Vikrant Singh, and Sarwar Ahuja.
The film’s title is largely inspired by Yogi Adityanath’s birth name, Ajay Singh Bisht.
Scheduled for a 2025 theatrical release, the film will be available in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The music is composed by Meet Bros, with writing by Dilip Bachchan Jha and Priyank Dubey. Vishnu Rao serves as the director of photography, while Uday Prakash Singh is the production designer.
Speaking about the film, director Ravindra Gautam said, “Our film is incredibly inspiring for the youth of our country, portraying the story of a simple middle-class boy from a remote village in Uttarakhand who rises to become the Chief Minister of India’s most populous state. His journey is one of determination, selflessness, faith, and leadership, and we have worked hard to create an experience that does justice to his extraordinary life.”
