KIRKSVILLE, MO (TIP) : Truman State University is honoring seasoned Indian American finance executive Priyal Patel with this year’s Distinguished Service Award as part of the Truman Alumni Association Homecoming Celebration.
The award recognizes the alumni, faculty and staff’s generous commitment to the Kirksville, Missouri-based university and its students through outstanding volunteer and philanthropic service, according to a university release.
The Homecoming Celebration will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Student Union Building.
“A proud Truman homecoming tradition is the recognition of alumni and friends who have made their mark on campus and in the world,” the release stated.
With over 15 years of experience, Patel has held various leadership roles at Monsanto and Bayer, since joining in 2008.
Her career includes key positions such as Finance Business Partner for the Crop Science division, Director of Investor Relations and most recently, Vice President of Treasury for Bayer’s North America operations.
Before joining Bayer, Patel gained valuable experience as an accountant and external reporting manager in the telecommunications industry. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in accounting from Truman State University.
Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Patel actively serves on several boards, including the Bayer Fund Board, the PAC Board and the Bayer U.S. Patient Assistance Foundation Board.
She also holds board member roles with external organizations, including Gateway180 and the KIPP St. Louis Board.
She and her husband are the proud parents of two children. In her free time, Patell enjoys playing tennis, spending time with family and friends and watching sports.
This year’s second Distinguished Service Award went to David and Ellen Clithero.
Ellen retired from Truman after more than 25 years of service in the business and purchasing offices, advancement and academic advising.
David also served in the Advancement Office and governmental relations at Truman for approximately 15 years.
