4-star rating reflects continued investment in quality, member experience, and health outcomes
NEW YORK (TIP): MetroPlusHealth, New York City’s high quality, affordable health plan, announced today that its Medicare Advantage plans have been awarded a 4-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) following a recalculation of the 2026 Medicare Advantage Star Ratings and related Quality Bonus Payments. The revised rating applies to the MetroPlusHealth Medicare Advantage Plans – including the MetroPlus Advantage Plan (HMO D-SNP), MetroPlus Platinum Plan (HMO), and MetroPlus UltraCare (HMO D-SNP) – serving approximately 14,000 Medicare Advantage members across New York City.
The updated rating reflects MetroPlusHealth’s continued progress in advancing care quality, enhancing the member experience, strengthening care coordination, and improving health outcomes for the communities it serves.
“Earning a 4-Star Medicare Advantage rating is a significant achievement and a testament to the dedication, accountability, and member-first focus our teams bring to improving quality and the care experience every day,” said Dr. Talya Schwartz, President and Chief Executive Officer of MetroPlusHealth. “This recognition reflects the remarkable progress MetroPlusHealth has made across the organization and reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality care, comprehensive benefits, and exceptional support to Medicare Advantage members throughout New York City.”
MetroPlusHealth’s Medicare Advantage plans are uniquely positioned within New York City’s healthcare landscape through their deep integration with NYC Health + Hospitals, the nation’s largest municipal health care system. This partnership enables seamless care coordination, broad access to providers across all five boroughs, and specialized support for diverse and multilingual communities. The plan also offers robust services for dual‑eligible members, including enhanced care management and benefits designed to address social needs such as food access, transportation, and utilities assistance.
The improved rating strengthens MetroPlusHealth’s ability to continue investing in programs and benefits that support members’ health and well-being. Enhancements include expanded supplemental benefits, increased over-the-counter allowances, and additional resources that help members afford essential items, including food, health-related products, and utility expenses.
“This achievement reflects the dedication of our clinical teams and provider partners, who work every day to advance care quality, improve access, and support better health outcomes for our members,” said Dr. Sanjiv Shah, Chief Medical Officer of MetroPlusHealth. “Our integrated care model allows us to meet members where they are, address barriers to care, and deliver services that truly make a difference in their daily lives.”
As MetroPlusHealth continues to grow, the organization remains focused on delivering affordable, high-quality coverage while advancing health equity across New York City. Through integrated care, community partnerships, and innovative member-centered programs, MetroPlusHealth is committed to helping New Yorkers live healthier lives and access the care they need.
