Dhaka (TIP): Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has accused the deposed Awami League regime and an opposition political force of joining hands to create unrest in the country, alleging that one side is financing disruptive activities from abroad while the other is working to generate instability domestically.
Speaking at a public rally in Rajshahi on Tuesday, October 20, Rahman said intelligence reports indicated that the ousted regime was providing money to stir up unrest, including attempts to provoke labor disputes at factories in different parts of the country. His remarks appeared to refer to the activity-banned Awami League, led by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and the opposition Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
“These two parties have united,” Rahman said, warning that their alleged activities could disrupt efforts to stabilize the country and improve people’s economic conditions.
The prime minister alleged that the ousted political establishment was supplying funds from across the border to support efforts to create disorder in Bangladesh. He also accused a political group operating within the country of spreading misinformation and attempting to mobilize unrest. Rahman said attempts had been made to create labor unrest at several factories and industrial establishments. He urged citizens to remain vigilant against activities that could undermine economic recovery and obstruct government initiatives.
The allegations have not been independently established in the reports.
