Embassy of India Hosts Interactive Session with Indian Students participating in International Shakespeare Exchange Program

Remarks by Ambassador of India Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra to the Students.

BUCHAREST (TIP): A delayed report from Bucharest says that the Embassy of India in Bucharest organized an interactive session with a group of Indian students from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, who are currently in Romania under a fully funded academic and cultural exchange programme associated with the prestigious Craiova International Shakespeare Festival 2026.

The programme has enabled the students to spend two months in Romania, providing them with a unique opportunity to engage with Romanian students, academics, artists, and cultural institutions while participating in activities related to theatre, literature, performing arts, and intercultural learning. The initiative reflects the growing educational and cultural cooperation between India and Romania and contributes to strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.

During the interaction at the Embassy, the students shared their experiences of living and studying in Romania, participating in the renowned Craiova International Shakespeare Festival, and engaging with their Romanian counterparts through various academic and cultural activities. They highlighted the valuable insights gained through exposure to Romanian culture, traditions, educational institutions, and artistic heritage.

Addressing the students, H.E. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Romania, warmly welcomed the delegation and commended KIIT and KISS for promoting international academic and cultural exchanges. He noted that such programmes serve as important platforms for fostering mutual understanding, cross-cultural dialogue, and lasting friendships among young people from different countries.

During the interaction, representatives of KIIT and KISS also invited Romanian students to explore opportunities for participation in various academic, cultural and exchange programmes offered by the two institutions. They highlighted that KIIT and KISS regularly host international students from across the world and provide a vibrant multicultural learning environment in India. The institutions informed the participants that selected students visiting India under such programmes would be provided local hospitality and institutional support during their stay. The presentation also showcased the wide range of academic disciplines, research opportunities, cultural activities and community engagement initiatives available at KIIT and KISS, encouraging greater educational collaboration and student exchanges between India and Romania.

The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting educational, cultural, and youth exchange initiatives that contribute to enhancing India-Romania relations and creating greater opportunities for collaboration between the younger generations of the two countries.
