FLUSHING, NY (TIP): The Charles B. Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC) is hosting a Family Health Fair on Saturday, October 24, from 11 am – 4 pm at Moore Homestead Playground (on Broadway, 45th Avenue, and 82nd Street) in Elmhurst, Queens, 11373. The event is hosted by CBWCHC and cosponsored by UnitedHealthcare, Councilmember Phil Wong, and Councilmember Shekar Krishnan. The fair features free health screenings for blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol, CPR demonstrations, tai chi performances, Zumba, Chinese dance, music, face painting, and free books and giveaways. This Family Health Fair aims to promote community wellness and connect residents to important health resources.
“The Health Center is excited to host another Family Health Fair for the community because it offers free access to various health resources,” said Kaushal Challa, Chief Executive Officer of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. “This event will not only feature free health screenings from the Health Center but also important health and community resources and information from other community organizations. Families will also get to enjoy fun activities and entertainment together with fellow community members.”
“We know that good health is influenced by many factors beyond medical care alone,” said Munmeet Singh, NYS Medicaid & Essential Plan Director from UnitedHealthcare Asian Initiatives. “When we come together as community partners, we can help remove barriers, expand access to resources, and empower individuals and families to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.”
“I want to thank the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center and its dedicated team for their continued commitment to our communities. Access to quality healthcare should not be limited by language, income, or background,” said NYC Councilmember Phil Wong. “Events like the Elmhurst Family Health Fair bring essential health services, education, and resources directly to our residents, especially Chinese speaking seniors, immigrants, and working families. I appreciate everyone involved in making our community healthier, stronger, and better connected. Thank you for your dedication and service to our community!”
Special thanks to our event partners Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC), Queens Public Library, Commonpoint Queens, Make the Road NY, NewYork-Presbyterian Queens (NYPQ), Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE), DocumentedNY, LiveOnNY, NYC Big Reuse, Garden of Hope, Northwell Hospital, New York City Cancer Services Program, and UnitedHealthcare.
