  • Apple resumes Apple Watch sales after ban is paused

You can once again buy the latest Apple Watches straight from Apple. The Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 will be available again in some physical Apple stores.
The restarting of sales comes hours after a federal appeals court paused a sales and import ban that covered both devices. Apple was banned from selling both products in the US after the US International Trade Commission found that the company had violated patents from the medical device maker Masimo.
The appeals court said that Apple could continue selling its watches temporarily, while the company waited to hear back on whether proposed changes to its watches would avoid the patent issues. US Customs and Border Protection is scheduled to rule on the changes on January 12th. Failing that, the court is considering whether to put the ban on hold until it can rule on the patent dispute, which could potentially delay the ban for months longer. “Apple’s teams have worked tirelessly over many years to develop technology that empowers users with industry-leading health, wellness and safety features and we are pleased the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has stayed the exclusion order while it considers our request to stay the order pending our full appeal,” Rothberg said in an emailed statement.
Apple pulled sales of the Series 9 and Ultra 2 from its online and physical stores ahead of the ban going into effect on December 26th. The ban covers devices that include a blood oxygen saturation sensor. Apple has included one on flagship watches since late 2020, with the Series 6. Only the lower-priced Apple Watch SE doesn’t include one and has been able to remain on sale. Third-party retailers were allowed to continue selling through their stock of Apple Watches while the ban was in place, though the import ban would have eventually prevented them from acquiring more units. Apple Watch saves UK man whose heart stopped 138 times in 48 hours

Apple Watch’s ECG heart sensor has once again saved a man’s life by sending him alerts for a low resting heart rate on almost 3,000 occasions. David Last, 54, from the UK credited Apple Watch for saving his life after his heart stopped an astonishing 138 times in a 48-hour testing period at the hospital, reports the Independent.

His heart resting rate was found to have dropped as low as 30 beats per minute (it is normally between 60-100bpm).

After tests like a 48-hour ECG and MRI, his cardiologist told him that he had a massive heart blockage.

His heart stopped 138 times in 10-second intervals over a 48-hour ECG period.

Last was operated this month, and a pacemaker was installed to detect abnormal heart rhythms.

His wife gave him Apple Watch as a gift on his birthday in April this year. “If she hadn’t bought me my Apple watch for my birthday, I wouldn’t be here. I will always be eternally grateful to her for it. Apart from charging it, it’s always staying on me now,” he was quoted as saying. The Apple Watch has saved several lives in the past across the world. With iOS 16 and watchOS 9 this fall, Apple Watch and iPhone will offer features that focus on 17 areas of health and fitness, from heart health to sleep, women’s health, mobility and more, according to the tech giant. • iOS 14.5 will now allow third-party default music service for Siri

The Apple fanatics will soon have a reason to rejoice as the new iOS 14.5 version is coming up with a lot of new features on the bucket list for the users. According to The Verge, iOS 14.5 will be having features like unlocking an iPhone utilising Apple Watch, open an iPhone with a Face ID while wearing a face mask, and support for next-gen console controllers. However, the users who have just installed the beta in their devices will have another incredible component that will allow them to choose a third-party default music service for listening to songs using Siri.

As per the publication, when a user will ask Siri to play a song on iOS 14.5, one might be incited to choose which application he/she needs to use to play it, including Spotify. While there is still a confirmation statement pending from Apple, some users have started observing minor differences in the application’s conduct. Reportedly, in light of the fact that this component is as yet in beta, there’s consistently a possibility it may be changed or eliminated before iOS 14.5 comes out.

The ability to set a default music app follows Apple’s welcome move to let users set their default mail or browser clients starting with iOS 14.
