    MOVIE REVIEW HEROINE

    STORY:

Mahi Arora has all the trappings of a Bollywood superstar- name, fame and fortune. Unfortunately she’s also a manic
depressive and constantly courts a death wish. Will Mahi succumb to her weakness or will she manage to stay afloat?

    MOVIE REVIEW:

Multiple National- Award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar takes vicarious pleasure in giving his audience a ringside view of various walks of life.
His Chandni Bar (2001) dealt with Mumbai dance-bars; Page-3 (2005) showed the shallow side of the media and celebrity circus; Fashion(2008) dealt with the seamier side of the fashion industry. And one must say here that in each of his previous works Madhur was far more in control of proceedings than he is in Heroine; a film that superficially traces Bollywood’s underbelly. The protagonist is Mahi Arora ( Kareena Kapoor), a superstar, who has the world at her feet for a bit in the beginning of this film.
Unfortunately she is also fashionably diagnosed with the bipolar syndrome and is happy to destroy herself in her various relationships. If you are wondering why Sunshine Girl Mahi is on a constant emotional roller-coaster; the narrative tells you that she has had a messed up childhood and hence she has developed this masochistic streak.
So on the one hand, Mahi is cutting ribbons, and shooting for a dozen endorsements. But quickly enough she is also threatened by the arrival of the younger actresses and awards that go missing. To add to her woes, she’s drawn like a moth to a flame to her married co-star Aryan Khanna( Arjun Rampal); a cad. Very clearly the written material at hand draws from unflattering accounts of various real and reel Hindi film heroines of the 80s (unfair to name them because a couple of them are not even around to defend themselves); who were in messy situations with their married co-stars.

In a bid to pack in every piece of studio gossip ever heard; Heroine makes Mahi swing from a relationship with a married actor to another with a successful cricketer ( Randeep Hooda).

Cloning stereotypes of what the middleclass call a liberated; Mahi is also shown smoking, drinking and popping pills so frequently; she seems more like a social hazard than a free-thinking girl. The film is made enjoyable by some pithy dialogue credited to Niranjan Iyengar. Sample this: aap media waalon ko toh script likhna chahiye.

Heroine ne gaadi le li-toh businessman ne gift kardi; diamond khareeda, toh engagement ho gayi; hospital gayi check up ke liye, toh abortion ho gaya, LA gayi toh plastic surgery karva liya, aur Dubai gayi toh, uska rate card ban jata hai. And Heroine would have been crisper had it not digressed to cover every Bollywood insider account.

When the maker attempts to show mainstream cinema’s condescending attitude towards art-house films, precious screen time is lost. Mahi’s attempt to play a prostitute and say scandalous lines are clearly attempted to woo the frontbenchers but the gig lacks conviction.

Cast: Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Ranveer Shorey, Divya Dutta

    Love is painful: Emma Watson

Actress Emma Watson used to believe love was a “pain” and admits she has had some bad experiences in the past. The 22-year-old is currently dating student Will Adamowicz. “When I started dating, I had this kind of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, fateful, romantic idea about love. It was almost that you were a victim – that there was a lot of pain involved and that was how it should be,” femalefirst.co.uk quoted Watson as saying. “Shakespeare said the course of true love never did run smooth and I had a sense it had to be painful. It was such a revelation to realize it shouldn’t be that way and you get to choose who you love and who you give your heart to.” “The sad thing is you only learn from experience, so as much as someone can tell you things, you have to go out there and make your own mistakes in order to learn,” she added.

ANISTON bans mom from attending her wedding

Actress Jennifer Aniston has reportedly banned her ailing mother Nancy, 76, from attending her wedding as she has been talking about her daughter’s private life very openly.

Engaged to actor Justin Theroux, Aniston had a rocky relationship with her mother ever since she blabbed too much about her personal matters in a 1996 television interview. “Being at Jennifer’s wedding to Justin was one of Nancy’s greatest late-in-life dreams, but now that dream is shattered,” showbizspy.com quoted a source as saying. ”

But when Nancy started asking a bunch of questions about the upcoming event, it set off an alarm in Jennifer’s head. She realized her mom was gossiping way too much about her wedding plans. “Now she has banned Nancy from the nuptials, just like she banned her from her wedding to Brad Pitt back in 2000,” the source added.

Theroux, 41, proposed to Aniston, 43, on his birthday last month and told her he wants to have children with her. “After her star-studded $1 million wedding to Pitt, Aniston now wants a much less formal and less publicized ceremony. And she believes Nancy’s loose lips are a threat to her privacy,” said the source. The couple are reportedly planning to walk down the aisle in December.

  • MOVIE REVIEW DREDD 3D

    MOVIE REVIEW DREDD 3D

Cast: Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey, Rachel Wood
    Direction: Pete Travis
    Genre: Sci-Fi
    Duration: 1 hour 35 minutes

    STORY:

The future of this futuristic city looks unsure. Why? Blame it on the gangsters, the war lords and the drug peddlers.

    MOVIE REVIEW:

Even before you step into the theatre make sure you know what lies in store for you. Action and loads of noise. But then if you are an ardent fan of the 2000 AD comic strip titled Judge Dredd — yes, yet another comic book hero comes alive on screen — nothing is a wee bit confusing for you. You know the judges, the jury members, the executioners, the brokers of law etc are all but one people in this future city of America — Cops. And if Judge Dredd ( Karl Urban) is who we are talking about, the word is super cop.

As the uniformed judge — who looks all smart, hi-tech and confident — Karl makes sure justice prevails in every nook and corner of the Peach Tree. Watch out for the shielding of the Peach Tree scene.

In fact, the onus of giving us all that extra dose of action lies with him… and his trainee partner, Anderson ( Olivia Thirlby). Olivia, on the other hand, plays the perfect, obedient helper with an extra ability to predict the past… and sometimes the unsaid. But then the one leading to all that mess is the bad girl, Ma-Ma and her gangsters.
Lena Headey with her bloody eyes and scared face is mean, aggressive and dangerous. The three leads indeed make up for an otherwise great (edge-of-the-sea kinda) plot. So as long as the bullets keep whizzing — there are a couple of slow, dead and non-action moments– Dredd 3D has things going its way.

And if not anything else, it’s over to the scenes that show junkies falling off skyscrapers in super slow motion… stopping time and creating some great, stunning (and brutal too) visuals in 3D.

FIA: An Insult to Democracy and Secularism

    By
    Dave Makkar

FIA is an organization in the public domain. As we had promised our readers to lay bare the facts about the organization in our editorial last week, here is the first in the series of revelations we will be making over the next few weeks.

We will be very happy to receive your comments which will be treated with all respect and published in the columns of The Indian Panorama. Please email your comment to editor@theindianpanorama.news. You may also mail your comment to P.O.Box 190067, S. Richmond Hill, NY 11419. The comment can also be posted on line.

We have placed on our website (www.theindianpanorama.news) a petition to concerned authorities and call upon you to sign it if you are convinced that the FIA needs to be reformed and agree with the contents of the petition.

The Indian Panorama will be grateful for your support in reforming an organization which should legitimately belong to the Indian Americans as a whole.

    EDITOR

Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) came into existence in 1977 after changing the name of umbrella organization “Joint Committee of Indian Organizations” founded in 1975 under the leadership of Rajan Ghosh. The main goal of this organization was to celebrate India’s Independence and Republic days in Tri-state area by bringing under one roof Indian student organizations; India Club of New York University, India Club of Columbia University and Association of Indians in America, The Bharathi Society of America and the Tagore Society of America.

Mr. Thomas Abraham, a Christian from Kerala was elected First President of FIA and in March 1981 Sureshwar Prasad Singh took over and initiated the first India Day Parade in 1982 in New York. He was succeeded by H. C. Chandershekar for the term of 1982-83.

During the Presidency of Sudha Acharaya in 1983-84 tradition of Bollywood movie star as Grand Marshal with Sunil Dutt was started. She was also instrumental in bringing 17 more organizations under FIA.

With the Presidency of Ram Gadhvi in 1985, Hindu Gujarati Leader’s hold on FIA started increasing and the final nail in the coffin was put with the entry of Ramesh Patel to have absolute control. This organization lost its focus on Student Organizations, other regional organizations and other communities’ involvement in the India Day Parade. FIA stooped so low that its Chairman Ramesh Patel appointed Nirav Mehta, a wanted man by CBI in India as its President in 2010 and subsequently as its Trustee in 2011.

The 13 members all FIA Trust under the Chairmanship of Ramesh Patel has only 2 non Gujarati members; Yash Pal Soi a Hindu from Punjab and Prabir Roy a Hindu from West Bengal. The 6 member Executive Committee, barring Treasurer Ahmed Shakir, are Hindus from Gujarat. The same is true for various committees formed for the purpose of organizing the Parade. Majority are Hindus from one state- Gujarat only.

Current President Kanu Chauhan is a Trustee also and was also President in 1997.

This raises serious a question. There are almost 1 million Indians in Tri-State area how come FIA could not find talented individuals from other religions and belonging to other regions of India?

The truth is FIA has been majority controlled/owned by Hindus from one state of Gujarat only for over 25 years. In fact FIA is in perpetual control of Ramesh Patel along with his hand picked kitchen cabinet including fugitives running from law in India.

The most disgusting part in FIA is a lack of understanding the meaning of Indian Unity. The utter disregard for other states and other than Hindu religions of India does not contribute to the broad concept of Indian unity. FIA has shown no interest in promoting Indian Culture and Indian Art. Recognition of American born Indians who have brought glory to the community has never been on the agenda of FIA that has been obsessed soley with organizing India Day Parade or a Bollywood style Dance Pe Chance .All they know is how to parade themselves, their families, friends and parade contractors with a Bollywood star. They do not hesitate to Parade girls in Indian Tri color Bikinis dancing to the song “Mera rang de Basanti Chola” to insult India- the very country they profess they love.

FIA is not at all transparent and willing to put their accounts on the internet for public to see despite the fact money spent has been received from organizations owned by Indian public like State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Air India etc. and Indian Multinational Corporations like Kingfisher, Jet Airways, Zee TV etc. as well as Indian Americans. No one knows how the money is collected and spent. All the contracts are awarded to majority from Gujarat on no bid basis without calling for open tenders.

Insiders are claiming that donations from big donors are collected by a third party and after taking out 15-20% as commission the third party passes on the rest of money to FIA with the full knowledge of its Chairman Ramesh Patel.

Then FIA is violating US Laws also for Charitable organizations by openly taking sides in Elections besides violating financial disclosure and Foreign Trade Practices laws. FIA should be investigated for its illegal activities by Government of India for misusing Public Organization Funds, appointing fugitives running from law in India as President and Trustee. FIA needs to be investigated by US Authorities as well for violating numerous laws of the country.

Ramesh Patel and his supporters must understand FIA is run with public money and contributions from sponsors. They have no ownership rights of the organization. Moreover a great majority of Indians do not agree with their narrow thinking that “Hindu Gujarat is India and India is Hindu Gujarat”. They must honor and respect that India has 28 states and 7 Union Territories practicing all the major religions of the world. The Hindus of other states are not inferior to Gujarati Hindus. Neither are the Sikhs, Muslims, Jains, Christians & Budhists inferior to Gujarati Hindus.

Multi-religious and multi-state secular nature of India and democratic process demands term limits for all FIA office bearers and trustees as well as representation to every state and ethnicity to the maximum possible limits. Let there be a public debate on this issue on the basis of the formula given below:

    1. Equal Representation to all Major Religions of India by keeping 2 members for each religion nominated by their religious bodies. If there are multiple religious bodies in a particular religion; those bodies have to put their head together to nominate 2 people for a tenure of 2 years only for the post of Trustee. A Trustee will have 1 term limit with no exceptions. After a gap of 4 years a person can come back on the request of his/her religious body. This will give equal representation to Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Budhists & Christians. All financial matters will be the responsibility of the Trustees.

    2. One member from each of the registered State organizations for 2 year term nominated by their organization like Gujarat, Bihar, Bengal, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Kashmir, U.P. etc. for the working committee. There will be 2 Term Limit. If the organization wants to replace its nominee after 2 year term, they will be free to do so.

    3. One Member each from registered Indian Student bodies nominated by their Student council for a term of 2 years for the working committee with 1 Term limit.

    4. One Member each from Lesbian/Gay Transgender/ Bisexual (LGTB ) community for a 2 year Term nominated by their organization with a 1 Term Limit.

    5. One Member from the Indian Consulate nominated by the CG to monitor that the theme of the Parade is in conformity with the international image of India.

Non representation of people from other religions and other states as well as Union Territories of India in FIA doing India Day Parade has been going on for over 2 decades. It is insulting to the very secular and democratic nature of India. It is gross injustice and should not be allowed to continue any more. In the name of Equality and Justice, it is the solemn duty of every individual of Indian origin living in America to demand equal representation for all communities and all Indian states in FIA. If FIA does not agree to this they should not be funded or sponsored or allowed to organize India Day Parade.

The major sponsors especially government of India, and government of India owned corporations, Indian Multinationals and Indian Americans must get involved in this public debate.

    For
    Secular India Day Parade

Kristen Stewart has revealed that her upcoming film ‘On The Road’ director Walter Salles made her so comfortable that filming the topless scene didn’t bother her.

The 22-year-old actress was full of praise for Salles, and said, “You can do no wrong with him.” “He puts so much inside of you. In the four-week rehearsal process, it was okay to ask any question, to bring up any story, to really over-analyze everything and intellectualize everything,” the Mirror quoted her, as saying. The ‘Twilight’ actress admitted that she didn’t mind taking off her clothes in front of everybody on the set of the film. “Once we got on set, it was so about just breathing and letting it happen,” she said.

Cast: Diane Kruger, Djimon Hounsou, Benoit Magimel, Denis Menochet, Raphael Personnaz
    Direction: Stephane Rybojad
    Genre: Action
    Duration: 1 hour 49 minutes

Story: Elsa, a french journalist, is kidnapped by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Enter the special forces….

Movie Review: If it’s the special forces we are talking about, guns and grenades, state-of-the-art technology and out-of-the-box strategies is what we are primarily on the lookout for. Sadly, here our men in uniforms are seen falling, faltering and giving up as well. No wonder, the special force comprising six super officers on a mission to get kidnapped Elsa safely back to her land end up being killed. Not to say they never try at all. At least the first half sees our men in action. For the rest, over to the story….

Action and the struggle-to-survive (all seen before stuff) aside, there are moments in the movie that do deserve a special mention: the performances by every single cast that holds your attention till the very end; the state of the nation, the diplomatic statement and reactions, the panic in news agencies when a (war) correspondent is abducted; the camerawork that captures the tribal areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan in its extreme form beautifully; the not-so-happening practices being followed in some not-so-fortunate parts of the world — women being sold to the Talibans; a Muslim woman throwing off her veil just to smile (her idea of who-gives-a-damn) before her public execution; children as young as seven forcibly taken away by the Taliban so that they can return to do the same.

Agreed this was never meant to be a Daniel Pearl and Johanne Sutton real life drama come alive on screen, but what really makes Special Forces a little different is the very opening line of the movie that gives us ample food for thought — The only way to change the world is to change the story.

    Sonakshi turns teekhi

Ajay Devgn loves being a prankster. He teamed up with Sanjay Dutt to challenge their Son Of Sardaar co-star Sonakshi Sinha to eat a few chillies on the movie’s set, and the actress was daring enough to accept the challenge.

Sonakshi is known to have a sweet tooth, but to everyone’s surprise, she ate 10 red chillies in one go. A source close to the team said: “Sonakshi had just started shooting in Patiala with the rest of the crew and Ajay decided to play a prank on her. So Sanju baba and Ajay went to Sonakshi and challenged her to eat few chillies at once. Sonakshi started laughing and accepted the task.”
    Now that’s some sporting behavior!

Malaika Would like to make more sequels of ‘Dabangg’

In 2010 Salman Khan delivered the biggest hit of the year: ‘Dabangg. Now that he is coming back with a sequel, producer Malaika Arora Khan says the brand Dabangg will be carried forward. Malaika turned film producer along with her husband Arbaaz Khan for ‘Dabangg’.

“‘Dabangg’ is a brand….When we were making the first film, we did not make it with the intention that we want to make part two. It was later that we realized there is a potential and we can take the film ahead,” Malaika told in an interview.

“We would definitely like to make Dabangg 3,4. But it is too early to say anything right now.” Salman himself had said earlier this year that in ‘Dabangg 3’, his Chulbul Pandey will be posted in Mumbai, as the Police Commissioner!

Talking about Salman, Malaika said, “He is doing fantastic. He has really worked very hard to reach where he is today. Actors have ups and downs, it is not easy. The best part is, his fan following has always been consistent.” Malaika said the combination of Salman and ‘Dabangg’ brand will create magic this year.

“It is obvious that at the end of the day a Salman Khan film will without doubt have a good opening. But let’s not forget that ‘Dabangg’ is also a brand. There are loyal fans that would come to watch.” “People loved the character of Chulbul Pandey, enjoyed the desi hardcore feel.”

Sridevi being hailed as India’s Meryl Streep

The premiere of Sridevi’s comeback film English Vinglish at the Toronto Film Festival’s prestigious ‘Gala’ section on Friday evening was an outright winner. Funnily more than the two ladies Sridevi and her director Gauri Shinde, it was their respective husbands Boney Kapoor and R Balki who were moved to tears to see the love of their lives light up the posh Roy Thompson Theatre and its hard-to-please audience.

“We got a standing ovation for ten minutes,” Balki sobbed right after the premiere. “The local media just can’t stop praising Sridevi and Gauri’s work. They are comparing Sri with Meryl Streep. She is just taking it all in so modestly.” However with the sunshine comes the cloud and Balki sighs, “I truly wish Mr Bachchan was here with us in Toronto. He has a 5-minute cameo with Sri. But the impact he makes is amazing. Everyone is asking about him.”

The Big B tried his utmost to make it. But his prior commitment to the shooting of Kaun Banega Crorepati kept him away. On a brighter note Sridevi along with hubby Boney, her producer Balki and his director-wife Gauri Shinde were invited for tea in the office of Dalton McGuinty, the current premiere of the province of Ontario who apparently was supremely charmed by Sri and just couldn’t stop giving her attention.

  • Movie review Barfi

    Movie review Barfi

Story: An almost silent relationship between a deaf-mute and an autistic that speaks volumes about unconditional love.

Movie Review: He was born to a song playing on a Murphy radio, but this ‘Murphy’ baby (Ranbir) aka Barfi has a different law. Everything that has to go wrong will go wrong, but not if you brave it with a broad smiley. So ‘mute’ the high decibel chaos and deafening melodrama around and tune into Barfi ki duniya; which is simple, sweet and SILENT! Yet, extreme emotions of love, joy and pain resound – at different ‘frequencies’.

In the breathtakingly beautiful Darjeeling of the 70s, Barfi ‘bumps into’ Shruti (Ileana) and instantly falls in love with her. With wonder-eyes and in part-Chaplin-part-Raj-Kapoor style, he woos her with more ‘actions’ than words and leaves her speechless. He even wins over her heart, but she walks away with a Bengali babu, only because he ‘apparently’ has some abilities (of sound and speech, minus emotion) that Barfi isn’t blessed with.

But don’t worry, this Charlie is no bechara, he gives her a wordless, guttural, ‘earful’, wears his signature smiley and moves on. Soon he reunites with childhood friend Jhilmil (Priyanka) – autistic and abandoned by her wealthy family to live in a ‘special’ home.

In between haath-rickshaw rides, watching fireflies and gulping putchkas – an endearing and special bond grows between Barfi and Jhilmil. Life takes a turn (sharper than the tram-lines of Kolkata), and the destinies of Barfi, Jhilmil and Shruti mysteriously converge.

Ranbir, in the most challenging performance of his career leaves us ‘dumbstruck’. Without use of conventional crutches of cool-catchphrases, dhamaakedar-dialogbaazi, bare-bodies, and other ‘items’; he stuns you in every single frame. Even too much of Barfi isn’t enough, damn the diet!

For Priyanka, there’s only one word – Bravo! In a role where she needs to under-emote, she does so brilliantly. Without stylish chiffons, she wears awkward frocks, buckle-shoes and buck teeth, discarding the diva image like an old hand-me-down for lesser actresses; delivering an incredible performance.

Ileana looks a beautiful Bong bahu, and proves her talent with conviction and confidence in her Bollywood debut.

Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ileana D’Cruz

MOVIE REVIEW TO ROME WITH LOVE

Cast: Woody Allen, Judy Davis, Alec Baldwin, PenelopeCruz, Jesse Eisenberg
    Direction: Woody Allen
    Genre: Comedy
    Duration: 1 hour 52 minutes

    STORY:

When Rome is the place we’re talking about, tales are bound to be plenty, both of those living there, as well as those travelling out there.

    MOVIE REVIEW:

Now here is a movie from none other than the maker of the all-time favorite Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen. He not only directs To Rome with Love; he also happens to be the man behind the script (Woody Allenis the writer too)… and he also stars in this movie. And disappoint he does not at least when it comes to his performance. In fact, To Rome with Love scores purely for the huge star cast, and then for the performances put forth by the same cast. The four sub-plots involve

a young small-town Italian couple who arrive in Rome right after their marriage. The duo manages to give you an ample dose of adult humor.

    Special mention:

Penelope Cruz who not only looks her glam self, but has the whole of Rome wanting more of Anna (read her).

Then there is a retired opera director (Woody Allen) and his wife ( Judy Davis) who visit Rome to meet their future son-in-law… and eventually end up talent hunting. Now this is the couple that gives you maximum food for thought… and laughter

Next is a famous architect ( Alec Baldwin) who travels down memory lane, literally, courtesy a young architecture student (Jesse Eisenberg) living in Rome, followed by an ordinary citizen of Rome (Roberto Benigni) who one fine morning finds himself as part of the crème de la crème.

When I was with Seal I never looked at another man: HEIDI KLUM

Heidi Klum has spoken out for the first time since her divorce from Seal turned nasty after he accused her of “fornicating with the help”. The German supermodel and broke her silence in an exclusive TV interview, insisting, “when we were together, I never looked at another man.”According to sources, the TV host was devastated after Seal made the mean spirited comment, which suggested his ex-wife’s alleged cheating with her bodyguard caused their split.”I preferred Heidi would have showed a little bit more class and at least waited until we separated first before deciding to fornicate with the help,” the New York Post quoted Seal as telling TMZ just over a week ago, after news of her becoming close to bodyguard Martin Kristen broke.

While she has become close to her bodyguard of four years, friends insist this has happened after her split from Seal. The couple separated in January and filed for divorce in April after nearly seven years of marriage. The “Project Runway” host and Kristen were spotted in New York a few weeksago and on the beach in Sardinia with her children.

Easy cross-LoC travel, trade bring happy tidings

Srinagar (TIP): The governments of India and Pakistan on Saturday took a giant step in making the Line of Control (LoC) “a line on the map”, as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had put it when cross-LoC travel between the two parts of Jammu and Kashmir became a reality a little over seven years ago.

The nod to ease cross-LoC travel and trade has brought happy tidings for the people of the state at a time when the LoC had once again begun showing signs of turning into the “line of confrontation”.

With cross-LoC travel to be expanded to include group visits for tourism and pilgrimage, travel would not remain restricted to the state’s divided families. “It opens new vistas for the people of the state who want to visit the other side of the LoC,” says Khalid Ahmad, who was on the first cross-LoC bus flagged off on April 7, 2005.
“There is a yearning among the people across the LoC to visit this part of Jammu and Kashmir. Many are plain curious and want to see what this part of Kashmir looks like,” says Ahmad.

Kashmiri Hindus have for long wanted to visit the Sharda Devi temple in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and have repeatedly urged the Centre to make it possible for them to visit the revered shrine. “It is a welcome step. It should have been done much earlier,” says RL Bhat, one of the trustees of the Sanjeeveni Sharda Kendra.
“The Sharda Peeth is an integral part of Kashmir. We should be directly allowed to visit the Sharda Devi temple from Handwara side, rather than being made to visit Muzzaffarabad, the capital of PoK,” he says.

Likewise, many from across the LoC who have seen the beauty of the Valley in Bollywood films or heard of it from their elders are keen to visit Jammu and Kashmir. Visiting the Sufi shrines and Hazratbal is also on many itineraries.

With both sides agreeing to facilitate speedy clearance of applications for travel with process time of 45 days, residents are upbeat. “Crossing for such visits will initially be from Chakothi-Uri and Rawalakot-Poonch crossing points (between April and October),” says the clause.

Spirits have also soared on the trade front. It has been agreed that the list of 21 permissible products for cross-LoC trade will be respected by both sides. Regular meetings between traders on both sides will be facilitated on a monthly basis. There is also a provision to upgrade the road and communication infrastructure.

PRIYANKA TO ROMANCE IMRAN IN MILAN TALKIES

After making several socio-political films, Tigmanshu Dhulia decided to make his first ‘pure love story’ – Milan Talkies. While ImranKhan was signed on to play the male lead, it was rumored that Sonakshi Sinha will be the one to romance the actor. However, it has been found that Priyanka Chopramay be finalized as the female lead in the project.

When contacted, the CEO of producers Balaji Motion Pictures, Tanuj Garg refrained from revealing the name of the actress but said that they were “speaking to someone and will make a formal announcement once ready.”Interestingly, Garg added, “Sonakshi was never signed so the question of replacing her doesn’t arise.”However, while Garg refused to name an actress, a source close to Priyanka Chopra maintained that the actress has indeed accepted the offer to star opposite mran in the film. Tigmanshu had earlier revealed that Milan Talkies would be a small town romance.

“The crux of the story is that though the communication has become easy thanks to mobile phones and everything, it is still very difficult to fall in love in small towns,” he had said in an interview. “Priyanka loved the subject and wanted to work with Tigmanshu,” said the source.

  • DEEPIKA TO BECOME ABUSIVE FOR HER ROLE

DEEPIKA TO BECOME ABUSIVE FOR HER ROLE

Deepika is running scared. So far the most abusive word she has usedis ‘slut’ in Cocktail. For Ram Leela she needs to get a lot more colorful. Playing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Juliet in Ram Leela is not going to be a cakewalk for Deepika Padukone.

It requires a drastic andcomplete makeover, and not just from her Armani outfits to ghagra cholisto look like a firebrand from Kutch. She would also have to work seriously on her Gujarati accent to sound credible. However, there’s a lot more to her character than clothes and diction. Deepika’s character Leela has a peppery tongue. Says asource, “She plays a no-holds-barred daughter of the soil. Uninhibited totally oblivious to the niceties of ladylike conduct, she does and says exactly what she wants to, without caring about what the other person would think. Known to think twice before uttering even a syllable outof line, Deepika has never played such an unabashed character before.

She would have to learn a lot of words, which she has never heard let alone used before.”According to sources, the heroine in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film is “a very earthy woman with a hearty laugh, an earthy Juliet who is like a wild flower in adesert.” The character also has to share many seriously intimate moments with her co-star. This basically meant that whoever played Bhansali’s Leela had to lose all her inhibitions and submerge herself in the soil of Kutch, the area where the film is to be shot.
