    Deepika Padukone has created history by becoming the first Indian actor to be named one of the honourees for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2026 in the Motion Pictures category. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce revealed the list live, placing Padukone alongside international stars like Demi Moore, Rachel McAdams, Emily Blunt, Timothe Chalamet, Rami Malek, and Stanley Tucci.

    The honourees were chosen from hundreds of nominations by a panel during a meeting held on June 20. The selection was later approved by the Chamber’s board of directors. At the event, which was streamed live, Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros, Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, said, “We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined on the Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026.”

    He further added, “These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honour them with this well-deserved recognition.”

    Deepika has long been regarded as a trendsetting figure beyond India. In 2018, she was included in TIME magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world. She also received the TIME100 Impact Award for her work on mental health awareness and film campaigns.

    Her unveiling of the FIFA World Cup trophy at the 2022 final in Qatar was yet another major milestone in her international career. Beyond acting, Padukone has redefined Indian celebrity visibility on the world fashion scene. She was the first Indian face endorsed by high-end brands Cartier and Louis Vuitton, paving the way for others on the world fashion platform.

    While her international stature continues to rise, Deepika is still among the strongest and best-paid female actors in Indian cinema. With a string of successful movies and even more big projects in the line, including one with director Atlee, Deepika is all set to be back at work, after a break to embrace motherhood.

    Actress Deepika Padukone recently made a surprising revelation about her personality, uncovering the reason behind her introverted nature.
    The ‘Fighter’ actress took to her Instagram and reposted a video suggesting that intelligent people tend to enjoy being alone and are naturally inclined towards introversion.
    In the clip, an Instagram user is heard saying, “Here’s how you know somebody is intelligent. This is a simple theory and observation. The more intelligent someone is, the more they struggle with social interactions. Or, as he put it, the more intelligent someone is, the more at risk they are of becoming antisocial. Intelligent people like to be alone. They tend to be natural introverts. In fact, they have a small, select group of people they trust, and they feel a bit uncomfortable when surrounded by others, especially strangers.”
    Reposting the video, Deepika wrote, “Aah! I have always wondered why I am such an introvert… Now I know.”
    Meanwhile, the ‘Piku’ actress recently shared a delightful moment with her ‘Fighter ‘co-star Anil Kapoor and actor Kartik Aaryan at a public event in Mumbai. Deepika and Anil, known for their friendly chemistry, were spotted engaging in a cheerful conversation and exchanging pleasantries. The event also saw the presence of actor Jackie Shroff. In a video shared by a fan page, Deepika was seen giving Kartik a warm hug.

    Ananya Panday recently opened up during an event on her experience of working with Deepika Padukone on Gehraiyaan and showered praises on her co-star. She revealed that it was Deepika who inspired her to stand up for herself. Looking back on their time working on the Shakun Batra relationship drama, Ananya shared that Deepika showed her the way on how to speak her mind in a more confident and assured, but polite way.
    “When I started out in the industry, I didn’t really know that one could really stand up and reinforce what they want. I used to simply do what I was asked to do. Deepika is a woman who stands up for every person on the set, in a very polite way,” she said.
    The CTRL actress further added, “Whenever a girl speaks up she is called bossy, or difficult to work with, but she used to convey her needs in a very polite and empathetic way, which made me realise that there is a way in which you can do this.”
    Ananya regarded the experience of working with Deepika as an empowering one, which instilled the value of choosing more consciously in her. “Deepika inspired me as a younger female actress to go on further to make a change. Now I do speak up when I am not comfortable doing certain things or saying certain things, because I don’t want a young girl to be spoken to in a certain manner because I am being shown like that on-screen,” she remarked.
    On the work front, Ananya Panday’s recent OTT successes include Call Me Bae, an eight-episode comedy-drama which released on Amazon Prime Video in September, and the Netflix original, CTRL, a sci-fi thriller directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.

    Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who will be soon seen in Singham Again and Kalki 2898 AD, has topped the IMDb list of Top 100 Most Viewed Indian Stars of the Last Decade. Following her is the actor opposite whom she made her debut in Om Shanti Om, Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan. This list of all top Indian stars is determined by the actual page views of the more than 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide.
    Deepika said, “I’m deeply grateful to be included in a list that captures the sentiment of a global audience. This recognition is truly humbling.” The third spot on the list is occupied by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Alia Bhatt is on the fourth spot followed by the late actor Irrfan Khan. Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, too find a place in the top 10. While Aamir is at number six, Salman holds the eighth spot, separated by the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput at number seven.
    The list also includes Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Amitabh Bachchan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kareena Kapoor, Nayanthara, Ajay Devgn, Triptii Dimri and others.     Bollywood star couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are expecting their first child. They announced her pregnancy in February 2024. According to reports, Deepika is said to be in her second trimester. The star couple had gotten married in 2018. Her delivery is due in September 2024.
    Deepika and Ranveer shared a post announcing their pregnancy on Thursday, Feb 29, The post read, “September 2024,” with cute motifs of baby clothes, baby shoes and balloons.
    Earlier, there were speculations circulating that Deepika Padukone might be pregnant. These rumours stemmed from observations that she reportedly hid her baby bump while wearing a glittering saree at the 77th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). Deepika Padukone was adorned in a couture saree and custom jewellery designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
    Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh met on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’. They dated for five years before getting married in November 2018.
    When asked about becoming a parent, Deepika had a smile on her face and told Vogue, “Absolutely. Ranveer and I love children. We look forward to the day when we will start our own family.”
    She further added, “When I meet the people I have grown up with—my aunts, uncles, family friends—they always mention how I haven’t changed one bit. That says a lot about our upbringing. In this industry, it’s easy to get carried away by fame and money. But no one treats me like a celebrity at home. I am a daughter and a sister first. I don’t want that to change. Now, ahead of the much-awaited Valentine’s Day, the film’s director Siddharth Anand treated the viewers with yet another track. Titled ‘Bekaar Dil’, the makers will release the song in theatres on February 9.
    The makers of ‘Fighter’ are gearing up to release the romantic song ‘Bekaar Dil’in the theatres on Friday. The song has already garnered love from audience across. Siddharth Anand shared the announcement on his X handle on Thursday and wrote, “The love anthem from Fighter – #BekaarDil in Cinemas all over India from the Friday. After many years this is happening..a song is added into the film 2 weeks after release! And!! Watch #ishqjaisakuch 1 minute AFTER the end titles!! Wait for it!!! It’s worth it (sic)!”
    Meanwhile, ‘Fighter’ successfully completed two weeks of theatrical run. On its 14th day in theatres, the aerial actioner saw a slight slump in collections in India. Now, all eyes are on the weekend to see if there would be an incline in numbers. ‘Fighter’ grossed over Rs 300 crore at the box office worldwide and is still going strong.
    In India, the film is marching towards the Rs 200-crore (net) mark and is expected to touch the milestone in less than a week. On Day 14, February 7, the film is estimated to have earned Rs 2.75 crore (net) at the domestic box office.
    The 14-day total collection of ‘Fighter’ now stands at Rs 184.50 crore net in the country. On February 7, the film had an overall occupancy of 10.17 per cent in India.

    Deepika Padukone spoke about how she and actor-husband Ranveer Singh ‘hope to inculcate the same values in their children’ that her parents have brought her up with. In an interview with Vogue Singapore, the actor reflected on her how her parents Prakash Padukone and Ujjala Padukone raised her sister Anisha Padukone and her. She also discussed starting her own family with Ranveer.
    Deepika Padukone praised her parents, saying, “When I meet the people I have grown up with — my aunts, uncles, family friends — they always mention how I haven’t changed one bit.     Last year in November, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were in Belgium as they celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary. Ranveer and Deepika tied the knot on November 14, 2018 at Italy’s Lake Como after dating for six years. They first met on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic film Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. They later also starred in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
    Deepika will be seen soon in the sci-fi action film Kalki 2898 AD opposite Prabhas. She also has director Siddharth Anand’s aerial action film Fighter opposite Hrithik Roshan, which will be released on January 25, 2024. She will also be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. Ranveer will also be seen in the action film.

    Kriti Sanon who previously denied dating reports with co-star Prabhas, is now rumoured to get engaged soon. Reacting to the speculations, Prabhas’ team has dismissed the claims. Kriti and Prabhas will be starring together in their upcoming film, Adipurush.

    It all started when self-proclaimed film critic Umair Sandhu tweeted, “BREAKING NEWS: #KritiSanon & #Prabhas will get engaged next week in Maldives!! So Happy for them.” Earlier, dating rumours between Kriti and Prabhas sparked after the release of Adipurush teaser launch. Varun Dhawan who worked with Kriti in Bhediya, further fuelled the fire by hinting at Kriti’s relationship. However, he didn’t name Prabhas.

    While Kriti strongly quashed any such claims back then, now Prabhas’ team reacted to reports for engagement. His team told ETimes, “’Prabhas and Kriti are just friends. The news about them getting engaged is not true.” Earlier, Varun Dhawan was asked by Karan Johar on a show to name ‘eligible single women from the Hindi film industry.’ He skipped Kriti from the list and reasoned, “Kriti ka naam isiliye nahi tha kyunki Kriti ka naam kisi ke dil me hai. Ek aadmi hai jo Mumbai me nahi hai, vo iss waqt shooting kar raha hai Deepika (Padukone) ke saath. (Kriti’s name is not here because her name is in someone’s heart. That man is not in Mumbai because right now he is shooting with Deepika).”

    Later, Kriti clarified on her Instagram Stories, “It’s neither pyaar (love), nor PR.. our Bhediya just went a little too wild on a reality show. And his fun banter lead to some Howl-arious rumours (woman facepalming emoji). Before some portal announces my wedding date-let me burst your bubble. The rumours are ABSOLUTELY baseless! (folded hands and shrug emoji).”

    Meanwhile, Adipurush is produced by T Series and Retrophiles and directed by Om Raut. It is slated to hit the theatres on June 16, 2023. The film is based on the epic Ramayana. While Prabhas plays Lord Ram, Saif Ali Khan stars as the antagonist Lankesh in the movie. Kriti will be seen as Janaki and Sunny Singh as Lakshman.

    After a long smear campaign that tried to put it down, the highly-anticipated Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan has finally hit the theatres the world over. For the fans of Shah Rukh Khan, it is nothing less than a carnival. They are coming to the theatres in huge numbers which is reflected by the long queues that can be seen outside the theatres everywhere. All this has resulted in a huge opening for Pathaan (with the domestic collection crossing the 55-crore mark on Day 1, making it the biggest opener ever for Indian cinema).The total India collection on Day 2 was 70.50 crore nett (82.94 crore gross). It thus became the first Hindi film to breach the 70 crore nett collection on a single day. Meanwhile, overseas collection was also incredible as it collected 30.70 crore gross.

    ‘Pathaan’ created more history on its second day when it beat its own record for the highest day ever which it set on the opening day — Rs. 55 crore in Hindi format + Rs. 2 crore in dubbed formats — amounting to a total of Rs. 57 crore nett on Day 1.

    Pathaan is a paean to the unsung heroes of India who day in and day out put their lives on the line in order to protect the glory of the motherland by guarding it against its countless enemies and forces that are trying to weaken it. These are spies, soldiers on covert operations, members of the intelligence network, whose sacrifices often go unnoticed. The Siddharth Anand-directed Pathaan in its unique own way takes us on a whirlwind global adventure with these selfless soldiers committed to the highest ideals of duty and sacrifice.

It will encourage more filmmakers to make big budget action extravaganzas and multi-starrers shot across very many different locations across the world, not unlike the James Bond, Fast and Furious, and Mission: Impossible films. Also, the birth of the YRF Spy Universe is set to usher in a new era of franchise-based storytelling unpinned by not just sequels but also crossovers and spinoffs. Henceforth, whenever we look at the Hindi cinema, it will always be marked by the following dichotomy: Bollywood before Pathaan and Bollywood after Pathaan.

    Pathaan featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham has been embroiled in controversies ever since glimpses of it started showing up online. From leaked pictures to their song releases, there has been a mix of good and bad responses, nevertheless, the excitement around it has stayed intact. Now the latest news suggests that Pathaan has been given a UA certificate post certain cuts in the films. This includes the close-up shots of Deepika Padukone which were deemed inappropriate along with the dialogues. Three cuts have been made in the Besharam Rang song that were too bold for the viewers. Whether the saffron outfit that wreaked havoc on viewers has been removed or not was mentioned in the report. Words such as RAW have been replaced with subtler terms like “Humare” and “Langde Lulle” with “Toote Foote.” Other words such as “Mrs. Bharatmata”, “Ashok Chakra”, and “scotch” were replaced with “Veer Puraskar”, “SBU” and “drink’ respectively. Also, any reference to Russia is also reported to have been eradicated.

    Meanwhile, protesters tore down posters of Pathaan in Ahmedabad. In a video shared by the Bajrang Dal Gujarat on Twitter, people were seen shouting slogans as they tore posters and even huge cut-outs of Pathaan’s star cast. The incident took place at Alpha One mall in Vastrapur, Ahmedabad where members of Bajrang Dal created a ruckus.

    Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s new song ‘Besharam Rang’ from their upcoming film ‘Pathaan’ has brewed a fresh controversy. The first track from the film, which has been the talk of the town ever since it was released, is trending, and this time, not for the right reasons!

    Taking to his Twitter account, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has made his objections to the song clear. Sharing a video of himself speaking to local media the minister tweeted saying that he is not sure if the film will be allowed to be released in Madhya Pradesh. He has objected to the choice of outfits in the song and the colour saffron of the costumes donned by Deepika in some of the song sequences.

    Narottam Mishra tweeted in Hindi, “The costumes in the song at first glance are objectionable. Actress Deepika Padukone who supports ‘Tukde Tukde gang’ is in the song of the film #Pathan. The costumes are highly objectionable and the song has been shot with a dirty mindset. The scenes and costumes of the songs should be corrected, otherwise, we will consider whether or not to allow the film to be released in Madhya Pradesh.”

    Deepika’s sizzling moves and SRK’s hot look, undoubtedly, won many hearts however, now that trouble has knocked on their doors, it remains to be seen how the makers respond to it. ‘Pathaan’ is scheduled to hit theatres on January 25, 2023.

    In a recent survey conducted by Dr. Julian De Silva, Deepika Padukone is the only Indian to have made it to the list of top 10 most beautiful women. The scientific method, referred to as ‘Golden Ratio of Beauty’, is expected to use the symmetrical features as tools of measurement. As per this method, Jodie Comer has been declared as the most beautiful woman, followed by Zendaya and Bella Hadid.
    Speaking about the Golden Ratio of Beauty, Dr. Julian De Silva was quoted in Yahoo UK saying, “Jodie Comer was the clear winner when all elements of the face were measured for physical perfection. She had the highest overall reading for the positioning of her nose and lips, with a score of 98.7 percent, which is only 1.3 percent away from being the perfect shape. Jodie also had the highest score for her nose width and length and she was near the top for the shape of her lips and the position of her eyes.”
    Deepika Padukone received a score of 91.22. Besides Jodie Comer, Zendaya, Bella Hadid, and Deepika Padukone, the other women in the top 10 list of most beautiful women included Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Jourdan Dunn, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardarshian, and HoYeon Jung.
    Coming to Deepika, is currently busy with three major projects in Bollywood. The actress will be seen alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan in the Pan India film Project K. She also has the comeback vehicle of Shah Rukh Khan, Pathaan, that also stars John Abraham. Besides these two, she will be paired alongside Hrithik Roshan for the first time in Fighter.

    Deepika Padukone, who will represent India as a jury member at the 75th Cannes Film Festival in 2022, looked stunning in a Sabyasachi ensemble for the jury photocall on the first day of the festival. Sabyasachi began his post with a quote, “I love that moment of storytelling where looking back at the past reveals the future. For me the best stories of India are always told in these moments”.

    He added that the Tamasha actress wore “clothing and high jewellery” from his Tropic of Calcutta collection “the global resort series, where Indian heritage gets a contemporary update”.

    Deepika wore a printed Mysore silk shirt “with a digital rendering of hand-painted vintage flora inspired by Company paintings made by the Sabyasachi Art Foundation,” as described in the post.

    She wore the shirt with monogrammed buttons and pleated wool trousers. Paired with the Lucknow Rose, a deconstructed Maharani necklace that has been crafted with extensively sourced multicoloured gemstones and uncut diamonds. She also wore the Bengal Trophy belt by Sabyasachi Accessories.

    Deepika Padukone’s filmography for the coming year is quite impressive as she headlines big projects alongside Hrithik Roshan (Fighter), Prabhas (Project K) and Shah Rukh Khan (Pathan), among others. She will also be seen in the remake of The Intern that she is also producing. But before that, she is set to take over the screens with Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan, which will stream on Amazon Prime Video. The film marks her first project with the director. In a chat with Anupama Chopra, Deepika Padukone, who has collaborated with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in three of his films, spoke about how Shakun’s working process is so different than that of SLB. In fact, she stated that anyone who has worked on a Shankun Batra’s set is qualified enough to step inside SLB’s world of cinema.

    “We basically say or I have started saying to him now that if you work with Shakun Batra, you can work on a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film because he’s just not happy. I am joking about the complaining part of it but I love his process because it’s exhausting. Literally from the time you are on the set to the time you leave, actors are on their feet the whole time, except the lunch break,” Deepika said, adding that the whole process was extremely ‘nimble,’ which urged her to know her lines so well that the setting or director’s last-minute changes wouldn’t throw her off guard.

    Ranveer slid into the comments section and posted a filmy remark: “Teri zulfon mein khoya rahoon (Wish to be lost in your hair).” Ranveer also added the kiss patch icons to his comment, along with a bunch of red hearts. Fans, who spotted Ranveer’s comment, posted hilarious reactions. “Chheenk ajaegi bhai (It’ll make you sneeze),” wrote a fan while another jokingly added: “Sir fas jaoge, you’ll get stuck).” One more fan wrote: “Kyun bhai dandruff ho kya (Are you dandruff)?”

    Deepika’s hairstylist Gabriel Georgiou had a funny reaction to her post. Deepika’s fans also complimented her on her messy hair look, showering her feed with the heart-eyes and fire emojis.

Divyansh also told Ranveer that he is the first person from his village to become a Civil Engineer. He hails from Uttar Pradesh. Both Ranveer and Divyansh in a conversation opened up about their life struggles. Divyansh shared about the hardships his father faced to get him a good education. Ranveer also told how his father struggled financially when he went to study in America. He further mentioned how his father never made him realise the troubles he and his mother went through and can relate to Divyansh’s story. Ranveer also danced with Divyansh on ‘Lungi Dance’ song. Ranveer revealed that he was trying to impress Deepika Padukone when she was shooting for this song.     Deepika Padukone has announced her next Hollywood project, four-and-a-half years after she starred in Vin Diesel’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage. The actor has signed a cross-cultural romantic comedy, developed by Eros STX Global Corporations’ division STXfilms. Deepika will not only star in the project but also co-produce it under her banner Ka Productions. STXfilms is also in talks with Temple Hill Productions’ Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, of the Twilight franchise and The Fault in Our Stars fame, to develop the project. In a statement, Deepika said, “Ka Productions was founded with the aim to develop and produce purposeful content with global appeal.

    In 2019, Deepika Padukone replaced Kiran Rao as the chairperson of MAMI. Now after serving as the head honcho for nearly two years, the actor has decided to step down from the position. Deepika took to her Instagram story and released a statement regarding the same citing her slate of work as the reason behind it. The actor said she will not be able to give undivided attention to the festival it requires. Deepika’s statement read as “Being on the board of MAMI and serving as Chairperson has been a deeply enriching experience. As an artist, it was invigorating to bring together cinema and talent from all over the world to Mumbai, my second home.

    I have come to realise, however, that with my current slate of work, I will be unable to give MAMI the undivided focus and attention it requires.

    I depart knowing that MAMI is in the best hands possible and that my bond and connection with the academy is one that will last a lifetime.”

    Deepika Padukone gave her Insta-fam a sneak peek into her ‘daily routine’ in her new post. The video began with her walking on the streets of Mumbai and featured a montage of her at different shoots. She revealed that she likes to ‘mix it up’. On being asked about her daily routine, Deepika said, “It’s really difficult to say because no two days are the same but wake up, brush my teeth and have breakfast. I like the mornings to be really quiet. And then, I like to throw in a workout at some point of the day but other than that, everything is open.”

    While there is a part of Deepika that likes to plan things to a tee, there is another part that prefers spontaneity. When asked if she plans a lot, she answered, “Yes and no! I think there’s a part of me that likes to plan everything and there’s a part of me that just likes to leave everything and just go with the flow. So, that’s also part of my planning and routine.”

    Deepika has been sharing vlog-style videos on Instagram after purging her account on New Year. Her earlier posts include fun dance videos, a bake-off with her childhood friend and a video about her favourite TV show as a child.

    On the work front, Deepika has a number of projects in the pipeline. She will be seen next in Kabir Khan’s 83 alongside her husband Ranveer Singh. The sports drama was recently given a new release date — June 4 — after multiple delays because of the pandemic.             Source: HT

    Actor Ranveer Singh has shared a baby picture of wife Deepika Padukone on her birthday. “My jaan, my life, my gudiya. Happy birthday!!! @deepikapadukone,” he wrote in his caption.
    The picture, shared on social media on Tuesday evening, showed a toddler Deepika wearing a cream-coloured sweater. Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot in 2018, after meeting on the sets of their film Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela. Earlier in the day, they were spotted out on brunch, twinning in tracksuits. While Deepika wore a brown ensemble with sunglasses, Ranveer was spotted in a grey tracksuit. Both made sure to wear masks.
    The couple recently returned from a quick New Year’s trip to Ranthambore. Sharing a collection of images and videos from the vacation, Deepika posted on Instagram, “What my New Years looked like…” Deepika and Ranveer were joined in Ranthambore by her parents Prakash and Ujjala Padukone, and sister Anisha. Also in Ranthambore were Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt with their families. In a 2018 interview to Filmfare, Deepika said that she had serious trust issues when she first met Ranveer, and even though she liked him, she didn’t want to fully commit. “It was not about him. It was about whether I was ready to commit to a relationship. Because I’d been in several relationships before and many times my trust was broken. When I met Ranveer, I was exhausted,” she said.

    Actress Deepika Padukone says she is excited for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum-opus ‘Padmavati’, and feels it is going to be one of the most challenging experiences of her career. Deepika plays Queen Padmavati in the film, which also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.

    “I don’t feel I have completed nine years, I feel I have just started off. I feel I have a lot more to give and I think I am ready for more challenging roles and films, and I am excited about one of those experiences, as

    ‘Padmavati’ is going to be extremely difficult. But I am ready for that experience and journey,” she told reporters here.

    The 30-year-old actress was speaking at the red carpet of Lux Golden Rose Awards, here. The actress, who made her international red carpet debut at the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards, said she enjoyed her time at the event, watching global artistes perform live.

    “It’s exactly the same (walking Indian and international red carpet). It’s fun to get up and get ready and interact with the media and fans. It was amazing watching international artistes perform. I learnt a lot by just watching them,” she said. It’s been nine years since the release of Deepika’s debut movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ and recently director Farah Khan revealed that the film is being made into a Japanese musical.

    CHANDIGARH (TIP): The Punjab and Haryana high court, on November 14, stayed the arrest of Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in connection with an FIR lodged against them in Jalandhar in connection with their movie Ram-Leela. Justice Jitender Chauhan of the high court has issued the order after hearing a petition filed by Bhansali, Ranveer and Deepika. When the case came up for hearing on Thursday, the counsel for the Bollywood stars pleaded that it was strange that the Jalandhar police registered the FIR without even ascertaining the facts. It was further argued that the grievance of the complainant in this case was that the movie’s title, the trailer and photographs were highly objectionable and offended the religious sentiments of general public believing in Hindu mythology. He argued that the story of the movie was contrary to the title, as it had nothing to do with Lord Ram’s life and the Delhi high court has already decided that no organization or individual can claim to be the sole interpreter to Hindu religion and sole proprietor of names of Hindu Gods. Bhansali, Ranveer and Deepika had moved the HC on Tuesday against the registration of case against them in Jalandhar. The police had booked Bhansali, Ranveer and Deepika in September on the basis of a complaint filed by one Lalit Kumar. The FIR was registered under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings) of the IPC.
