  • The Spearheading of US India Healthcare Summit 2023 in US

    EDISON, NJ (TIP): The Global Indian Trade and Cultural Council USA (GITCC) is shaping into a Global Platform for Asian Indians to global market, will implement in September 2023, the first US-India Business and Healthcare Summit to bring global healthcare recognition to the region. It will help define India as a hub of innovation for training and research infrastructure in bringing to the region healthcare excellence through knowledge and technology transfers between the U.S. and India. US-India Healthcare Summit will increase commercial ties to implement enterprises tapping U.S.- India expertise to Indian pharmaceutical market expected to grow to US$ 100 billion by 2025.

    Mr. H S Panaser President GITCC started meeting the leaders in the healthcare segment in India. He initiated his visit with Dr. Rahul Gupta the US White House Director of National Drug Policy.  They Met the Chief Minister of Karnataka Sh. Basavaraj Bommai and Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, Minister for IT & BT, Science & Technology, Higher Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood, Government of Karnataka to deliberate on new avenues in anti-narcotics and manufacturing of medication to treat drug dependence for US and other markets in the backdrop of firms globally pursuing the China-Plus-One strategy.

    Collaborative engagements in the areas of enforcement, regulatory frameworks, transparency through effective IT Systems, building of robust frameworks for the growth of the pharmaceutical industry were discussed. As per the New Education Policy (NEP), the government unveiled its ambitious ‘Twinning Programme’ in 2021. A first-of-its-kind in India, it aims to internationalize higher education. Cooperation in student exchange programs, educational twinning programs, curriculum building, upskilling and job growth in leading edge programs in Healthcare, Biotech, Tele-health, IT and Data Security were also discussed in detail.

    A 2021 World Drug Report released by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) indicated that over 36 million people have suffered from substance use disorders (SUD). According to Global Data’s Clinical Trial Database, nearly 80% of clinical trials are being sponsored by academic institutions, the pharmaceutical industry is lagging behind in the clinical arena of addiction treatments.

    Post the discussion, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said, “India and the USA are already working on bolstering the India-US counter-narcotics agreement as India assumes G20 presidency from December this year. The Government of Karnataka is exploring partnerships with the USA to continue to strengthen this dialogue. Further, we will share best practices for monitoring the use of unregulated chemicals in drug manufacturing. We look forward to interacting with the White House and delegates from the US soon.”

    With its robust ecosystem of IT, pharma R&D centers, manufacturing, academic institutions, and leading technology companies, Karnataka is the only state in India that maintains a country-to-state relationship akin to country-to-country bilateral relations

Mr Harish Jain, President KDPMA and Mr. Suresh Khanna of IPA, welcomed the attendees and the GITCCs team consisting of the chief Guest Dr Rahul Gupta and Mr. H S Panaser A wide range of topics were addressed including API, Generic, Anti-Narcotics Medical Devices, AI and ML in Healthcare and Pharmacovigilance and Cyber Security. We talked about working as “We” not “I” on a global platform, The first such initiative of all coming to one platform as top manufacturers, MSMEs and SMEs will participate in the First US India Healthcare Summit 2023 in NY to be organized by Global Indian Trade and Cultural Council USA

    Dr. Rahul spoke at the event, emphasizing the severity of Drug menace and advocated a campaign of Corporate Social Responsibility initiative as in being initiated by GITCC and other organizations in the US. Mr. Panaser emphasizing on deepening US India business relations and on the Drug menace. Dr Gupta appreciated the CSR initiative as in being initiated by GITCC It was humbling to have Dr. H. G. Koshia, Commissioner FDAC, Gujarat as an honorable speaker presenting the overview and economic snapshot, the regulatory framework along with other drivers for growth in Pharmaceuticals and Educational infrastructure of India and Gujarat and the US India initiations.

    NEW YORK (TIP): The U.S.-Indian relationship is fast building a strategic partnership  and the two sides working together with  regional groupings as highlighted by the Indian Prime Minister and the US President including ASEAN and Quad members, to promote shared interests in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond; developing a trade and investment partnership that increases prosperity for working families in both countries; finishing the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and other health challenges; galvanizing global efforts to scale up climate action;  strengthening democratic values and institutions in support of our respective peoples; and enhancing people-to-people ties that have made both countries stronger, Mr. H.S.     President Joe Biden has created history by appointing about 60 Indian Americans to key positions in his administration. The latest is the senate approval of The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, Dr. Rahul Gupta. It was a great pleasure joining him during his first visit to India after his taking over the position.

Ltd and Member of the Board of Millipore Pvt. Ltd. India, a JV company of Millipore Corporation USA. Mr. Anand. Krishnamurthy,  CEO of Coolsoft LLC, USA, Gen. Dilawar Singh. The group visited, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh respectively. They had an opportunity to meet bureaucrats overseeing healthcare,  IT and irrigation in the  states of Haryana and Punjab.They  had meeting and discussions with Industry leaders and Indian bureaucrats on Pharmaceutical and Medical devices manufacturing emphasizing on joint ventures, mergers both for generic and prescription products and API. The visiting  team also discussed about new software and usage of AI and ML in the healthcare sector.

    Mr. Panaser has a strong network of Angel Investors, Venture Capitalists and other Financial Consultants. India has very experienced and qualified pool of people who can assist in Formulation Product Development, Compiling dossiers for product registration for markets worldwide, API DMF, SOP Writing, Clinical Data Management, Validation protocols etc. at a very competitive cost. These costs will be affordable by many small and medium scale companies, thereby making them competitive commercially., Mr. Panaser’s press note said.

    Mr. Panaser also talked to Dr. Rahul Gupta about starting a government private partnership for spearheading campaigns on Drug awareness in border states to fight widespread drug menace in India under corporate social responsibility following the US model.     WASHINGTON, D.C. (TIP) the United States Senate, October 28, confirmed Dr. Rahul Gupta as Director of National Drug Control Policy on a bipartisan basis. Gupta is the first medical doctor to ever lead the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), a White House press release said.

    “As a practicing physician and former health official who has served in rural communities, I have seen firsthand the heartbreaking toll of addiction and overdose in our communities, but I have also seen how we can save lives if we understand the individuals behind the statistics and meet them where they are,” said Dr. Gupta. “President Biden has made clear that addressing addiction and the overdose epidemic is an urgent priority. As Director, I will diligently work to advance high-quality, data-driven strategies to make our communities healthier and safer.”

    Biography of Dr. Rahul Gupta

     Rahul Gupta, MD, MPH, MBA, FACP, most recently served as the Chief Medical and Health Officer, Interim Chief Science Officer and Senior Vice President at March of Dimes. In his role, Dr. Gupta provided strategic oversight for March of Dimes’ domestic and global medical and public health efforts. He recently served as clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine as well as adjunct professor in the Department of Health Policy, Management and Leadership in the School of Public Health at West Virginia University and visiting faculty at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

    A practicing primary care physician of 25 years, Dr. Gupta began his career in private practice in an underserved community of fewer than 2,000 residents. He has since served under two Governors as the Health Commissioner of West Virginia. As the state’s Chief Health Officer, he led the opioid crisis response efforts and launched a number of pioneering public health initiatives, including the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Birthscore program to identify high-risk infants. Dr. Gupta also led the development of the state’s Zika action plan and its preparedness efforts during the Ebola Virus Disease Outbreak.

    A national and global thought leader and a driver of innovative public policies on health issues, Dr. Gupta serves as an advisor to several organizations and task forces on local, national and international public health policy. The son of an Indian diplomat, Rahul was born in India and grew up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. At age 21, he completed medical school at the University of Delhi. He earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and a global Master of Business Administration degree from the London School of Business and Finance. He is married to Dr. Seema Gupta, a physician in the Veterans Administration for over a decade. They are the proud parents of identical twin sons, Arka and Drew.
