HARIHARAN, legendary singer from India, for a rare and memorable performance, is welcomed by the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), New Jersey’s anchor cultural institution and one of America’s foremost presenters of arts and entertainment, to perform on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 8:00 PM.
Bindu Kohli Entertainment presents this highly anticipated concert bringing one of India’s most revered musical icons to Newark for an evening that celebrates the emotion, melody, and spirit of Indian music.
HARIHARAN ANANTHA SUBRAMANI is an Indian playback, bhajan and ghazal singer who predominantly sings in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and Telugu languages. He has also sung over 15,000 notable songs in 10+ languages including Marathi, Sinhala, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Odia, Bengali, Sanskrit, Gujarati and English. He is an established ghazal singer and one of the pioneers of Indian fusion music. Hariharan is widely regarded as one of the greatest playback singers in Indian cinema.
In 2004, he was honored with the Padma Shri (the 4th highest civilian award) by the Government of India and is a two-time National Award winner in 1998 for best male singer for ‘Mere Dushman,’ in the film ‘Border’ and in 2009 for ‘Jeev Dangla Gungla Rangla,’ in the film ‘Jogwa.
Known for his collaborations with A. R. Rahman, Hariharan’s music bridges generations and genres, blending classical influences with modern arrangements.
Hariharan, collaborating with Leslee Lewis, formed the duo Colonial Cousins creating groundbreaking fusion work. They have cut many private music albums and also scored music for few feature films in Tamil and Hindi. In 1992, Hariharan and the late Gulshan Kumar‘s Hanuman Chalisa recorded under the label of T-Series crossed the 3-billion views mark on YouTube, making it the first devotional song in the world to do so.

The NJPAC performance will feature beloved songs such as ‘Tu Hi Re,’ ‘Bahon Ke Darmiyan,’ ‘Hai Rama,’ and ‘Roja Jaaneman,’ along with selections from his acclaimed ghazal and South Indian repertoire. With a career spanning over four decades, Hariharan built a deep connection with audiences through songs that connect audiences worldwide. His music embodies the emotion, melody, and soul of Indian culture, uniting people of all ages in a shared appreciation for its beauty.
