The magical world of Harry Potter is coming alive once again, as HBO has dropped the first official glimpse of Hogwarts from its upcoming series adaptation. The newly released image offers fans a nostalgic yet fresh take on the iconic school of witchcraft and wizardry.
The photo, shared on the show’s official Instagram page, features young Harry — played by Dominic McLaughlin — from behind as he walks towards the Quidditch pitch. Draped in a red and gold cloak symbolising Gryffindor house, his name and player number can be seen on the back, adding a personal touch to the visual.
Ahead of him, a large group of students gathers at the pitch, with flags representing Gryffindor and Hufflepuff fluttering in the background. The scene hints at a major Quidditch moment, instantly transporting fans back to the beloved universe.
The production design, led by Mara LePere-Schloop, known for her work on Interview With the Vampire and Pachinko, appears to blend grandeur with authenticity, setting the tone for a visually rich retelling.
The series is currently being filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the same location where the original films were shot — a detail sure to excite longtime fans.
Alongside McLaughlin, the cast features Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. The ensemble also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Helmed by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, the series promises a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s globally celebrated books.
The story will follow Harry’s journey from discovering his magical identity to forming lifelong friendships with Ron and Hermione, while facing the looming threat of Lord Voldemort.
