Actor Tom Holland, best known for playing Spider-Man on the big screen since he was a teenager, has opened up about his alcohol addiction, and subsequent sobriety. In a new interview, Holland said that as a challenge last year, he gave up drinking for a month, but realised very soon that it was ‘all that he could think about’, day and night. After continuing his challenge till June, he was a transformed person; he was sleeping better, and was less on-edge at work.
Holland appeared on the Jay Shetty podcast, where he opened up about his alcoholism, being unable to function socially in the early stages of his sobriety, and eventually finding replacements that help him continue down this path. He said that he probably inherited a taste for alcohol from his mother’s side of the family, and revealed that his mother has also given up drinking along with him. “Anyone that has a beer a day probably has a little bit of a problem,” he said.
“One of the problems with alcohol is that if you came out with alcohol right now, and alcohol wasn’t a thing, and you were like, ‘I’ve invented this drink that’ll make you either really happy, or really aggressive, or really stupid, and we’re just going to sell it to the masses’, people will be like, ‘No, mate, keep your funky juice, we don’t want that, that sounds terrible’.”
About his own journey, the actor said, “I’ve had periods in my life where I’ve given up drinking and gone back to drinking, but this time, it was just different. I really worked to change my mindset, and I asked myself, ‘Why do you drink?’ And a lot of the time, my answer would be, ‘To feel more comfortable in a social environment’. And I just put myself in those environments. I’d force myself to hang out, and go to a club, go to a bar, go to a dinner…” He admitted that he was avoiding those places in the beginning, because he didn’t feel that he could go and ‘not have a drink’, but later, he discovered that if he’s only enjoying himself when he’s drinking, he has a problem. “With me, most of it is just the ritual of cracking something open and sharing it with friends and drinking it. Whether it’s sparkling water or beer, I now can’t see a difference.” Source: Indian Express

Akshay’s Oh My God 2 sent to censor board review committee to avoid controversy
In order to avoid an Adipurush-like backlash, Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is looking at the dialogues and scenes in Oh My God 2 (OMG 2). The upcoming film is a sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal’s 2012 film OMG – Oh My God. As per a new report, the board’s revising committee seeks to ensure that the dialogues and scenes in OMG 2 ‘do not create any issues’. There is no clarity yet about which scenes or dialogues in Oh My God 2 have caused concern to the CBFC. Once the film goes to the revision committee, the CBFC will reportedly take a decision on the movie, which is set to be released in theatres on August 11.
As per sources quoted in a recent report by India Today, “CBFC does not want to repeat the backlash that Adipurush faced over its dialogues” and it will take a decision on Akshay Kumar-starrer Oh My God 2 after the board’s revising committee “looks over at the dialogues and scenes in the film”.
Sources told India Today that CBFC has now taken “preemptive measures” to avoid any backlash over Oh My God 2 dialogues and scenes. CBFC will send any movie dealing with subjects like God or religion for review and revision, added the source. -
Aditya Roy Kapur, Ananya Panday fuel dating rumors
Aditya Roy Kapur and Ananya Panday are currently in Spain where they attended a rock concert. Both of them shared individual posts on their respective Instagram handles but it was confirmed the two indeed attended the Arctic Monkeys’ concert in Spain. However, none of them shared any glimpse of themselves or each other from the musical night.
Ananya took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday to share a picture from the concert and wrote, “Nothing quite like the Arctic Monkeys. Daniel Radcliffe will be part of HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has dashed fans’ hopes of seeing him again in the recently-announced series reboot on HBO Max. In a recent interview, Daniel said that the new show does not ‘need’ him. The new series on the boy wizard was announced in April as part of the company’s plans for its Max streaming service.
The seven Harry Potter books have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide. They were adapted into blockbuster movies starring Daniel that grossed $7.7 billion globally from 2001 to 2011.
Speaking to Comicbook.com about the show, Daniel said, “My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere. Warner Bros defends ‘Barbie’ film’s world map as ‘child-like’
Warner Bros studio on Thursday, July 6, said a map in its upcoming “Barbie” movie of the South China Sea is a “child-like” drawing with no intended significance, days after Vietnam said it would ban the film over the map.
Vietnam balked at a scene of the map that shows China’s unilaterally claimed territory in the South China Sea, state media reported on Monday. It decided to ban domestic distribution of the highly anticipated film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Warner Bros believed the map was harmless.
“The map in Barbie Land is a whimsical, child-like crayon drawing,” the studio said in a statement. “The doodles depict Barbie’s make-believe journey from Barbie Land to the real world. It was not intended to make any type of statement.”
“Barbie” was originally slated to open in Vietnam on July 21, the same date as in the United States, according to state-run Tuoi Tre newspaper. Vietnamese authorities objected to a scene showing a map that includes the so-called nine-dash line, the newspaper said. The U-shaped line is used on Chinese maps to illustrate China’s claims over vast areas of the South China Sea, including swaths of what Vietnam considers its continental shelf, where it has awarded oil concessions.
“We do not grant license for the American movie ‘Barbie’ to release in Vietnam because it contains the offending image of the nine-dash line,” the newspaper reported, citing Vi Kien Thanh, head of the Department of Cinema, a government body in charge of licensing and censoring foreign films.
“Barbie” is the latest movie to be banned in Vietnam for depicting China’s nine-dash line, which was repudiated in an international arbitration ruling by a court in The Hague in 2016. China refuses to recognize the ruling.

The Venice Film Festival is serving up one of the year’s buzzier films as its opening night selection in Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers.” The romantic tennis drama starring Zendaya, “West Side Story’s” Mike Faist and “The Crown’s” Josh O’Connor will have its world premiere out of competition at the 80th edition of the festival in September, organizers said. “Challengers” stars Zendaya as a tennis prodigy whose past collides with her present when her husband, played by Faist, faces off against a competitor who was once his best friend and her boyfriend. Kelly Clarkson opens up on her ‘doomed’ marriage with ex-husband

Actor Gal Gadot, who is currently gearing up for the release of their upcoming action film ‘Heart of Stone’, recently spilled beans on the future of ‘Wonder Woman’. According to Deadline, a US-based media house, during Netflix’s Tudum fan festival, the actor was questioned about whether she will reprise her role as Diana Prince. Details of the episode remain under wraps but we hear that Rinna has concluded most of the filming and is back in LA. ‘American Horror Stories’ is a spinoff of ‘American Horror Story’ with each episode telling a different horror tale. Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, Stories has a total of 15 episodes between two seasons.

Emilia Clarke finds it easier to keep Marvel secrets vs Game of Thrones
Actor Emilia Clarke says it was ‘easier’ to keep important plot details under wraps for her new Marvel Studios show Secret Invasion than the cult series Game of Thrones.
The British star, who shot to global fame for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO series Game of Thrones, is set to make foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Secret Invasion. “I’ll tell you what, it’s so much easier now because whenever it comes up or people want to ask, you just get to be like, ‘Dude, Marvel. I can’t say anything.’ That’s just what I kept saying over and over again,” Clarke told about keeping the spoilers secret.
In the latest Marvel series, the 36-year-old plays G’iah, the daughter of Talos, (Ben Mendelsohn) the leader of a Skrull sect and an ally of Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson). Clarke also recalled that David Benioff and Dan Weiss, showrunners of Game of Thrones, had once told her that they took a leaf out of Marvel’s book about protecting the spoilers.
“When we were doing Game of Thrones, when it started to get to the later seasons, some massive security changes happened. I was chatting with David and Dan and they were like, ‘Marvel. Whatever Marvel’s doing, we just want to do that.’ So that became, you don’t print anything — and then there was like me and Peter Dinklage (who played Tyrion Lannister) being like, ‘I need it on paper! Neeyat has eerie resemblance to Knives Out
The trailer of Neeyat, a murder mystery starring Vidya Balan as a detective, was released on Thursday. Directed by Anu Menon, the classic whodunit seems like straight out of an Agatha Christie novel. And from recent memory, it reminds one of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out (2019).A ri ch man invites his entire family for his birthday dinner at an isolated, old mansion. But by the end of the night, he’s found dead. The detective investigating the case claims it’s a murder, instead of the suspected suicide. She discovers how every member of the family is a suspect with a valid motive. But who’s really the killer?
Replace Daniel Craig with Vidya Balan, the late Christopher Plummer with Ram Kapoor, and the Knives Out ensemble with the rest of the cast here. There’s also a late entrant here, like Chris Evans in Knives Out. The only key Knives Out character missing, at least in the trailer, is the caretaker played by Ana de Armas. And unlike Knives Out, the patriarch of the family is not found dead in the house, but is allegedly thrown off a cliff near his mansion.
Neeyat isn’t the first time Vidya will be seen as a detective. She played a desi detective in Bobby Jasoos (2014), set in Hyderabad, which failed at the box office. But we’ve often seen Vidya investigate on screen in different avatars, from Sujoy Ghosh’s 2012 cult film Kahaani, Ribhu Dasgupta’s Te3n (2014), or most recently, Amit V Masurkar’s 2021 forest thriller Sherni.
Neeyat will mark Vidya Balan’s long-awaited return to the cinemas after four years. Her last theatrical release was Jagan Shakti’s 2019 sci-fi ensemble Mission Mangal. Her last solo theatrical outing, however, was Suresh Triveni’s 2017 blockbuster Tumhari Sulu. -
Adipurush sees a new low after minting Rs 400 crore globally
Prabhas and Kriti Sanon’s Adipurush successfully completed a week in theatres amid multiple controversies and calls for a ban. Despite negative reviews, the film, directed by Om Raut, raked in over Rs 400 crore at the box office worldwide. However, the mythological drama registered its lowest collection yet on June 22 in India. Adipurush is now relying on the weekend to see some incline in collection. If the film doesn’t pick up pace during the weekend, then Adipurush will be heading towards a disaster.
Adipurush is a 3D film which hit theatres on June 16 in multiple languages. Ever since its release, the film has been receiving negative reviews from the critics and audiences alike. The Prabhas-starrer, which was made on a massive budget, finally crossed Rs 400 crore at the box office globally. However, after the opening weekend, the film has been seeing a decline in collection. Now all eyes are on the weekend. The film will have to pick up pace to breakeven.
On June 22, Adipurush completed one week in theatres and it is estimated to have earned Rs 5.50 crore in India (net). This takes the total collection to Rs 260.55 crore with an occupancy rate of 10.17 per cent in Hindi.‘Adipurush’ makers revise Lord Hanuman’s dialogue
The makers of ‘Adipurush’ have been receiving flak for majorly two reasons – VFX and dialogues. A while back, the makers of the film decided to revise cringe-worthy dialogues from the film. One of which, was Lord Hanuman telling Indrajeet ‘jalegi tere baap ki’.
‘Adipurush’ makers have now revised the same. We came across a leaked visual where the word ‘baap was replaced’ with that of ‘Lanka’. Prabhas-starrer ‘Adipurush’ has been brutally trolled online for its crass dialogues. After all the flak, the makers had promised the audience to release a revised version of the film with a few changed dialogues. And so, they did.
In a clip released online, we can see Lord Hanuman (played by Devdatta Nage), telling Indrajeet “Kapda teri Lanka ka, tel teri Lanka ka, aag bhi tere Lanka ki, jalega bhi teri Lanka hi.” In case you still missed, ‘baap’ has been replaced with ‘Lanka’. -
Nawazuddin mentions Hrithik in Kangana’s Tiku Weds Sheru
It came as a surprise when actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui mentioned actor Hrithik Roshan’s name during the promotion for Tiku Weds Sheru, a film produced by Kangana Ranaut.
For the unversed, Kangana and Hrithik were at loggerheads after the actress claimed of once having an affair with him. She even called him a “silly ex” in an interview. Now, on Instagram, Nawazuddin shared a promo for the upcoming film. In the clip he is seen sitting on a sofa and introducing himself.
He says: “Hello doston, mera naam Sheru hai and log mujhe pyaar se Sheru hi bulate hain. Main Bollywood main kaam karta hun. Chhoti moti filmo ka bada producer hun.” Nawazuddin then starts showing pictures of him with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. He adds: “Hrithik gaya hua tha isliye nahi hai.” The actor then gives a spin to his popular line from Gangs of Wasseypur 2 as he talks about his preferences for a suitable girl for marriage. “Main aisi ladki dhund raha hu jo mera dhyaan rakhe lekin mujhse zyada mere bhai ka, baap ka, dada ka sabka dhyaan rakhe.” Tiku Weds Sheru also stars Avneet Kaur.
