Cem Yılmaz (Turkish pronunciation: [ˈdʒem jɯɫˈmaz] is a Turkish actor, stand-up comedian, musician, filmmaker, screenwriter, and cartoonist. He has four franchise film series G.O.R.A., Karakomik Fimler, Organize İşler, Vizontele.
AWARDS
Along his professional career, he has won numerous awards and appeared in more than 4000 stand-up comedy shows, took part in 10 movies and contributed as a dubbing performer in 4 movies.
TURKEY’S CELEBRITY
Cem Yilmaz is a household name in Turkey. He is widely regarded as the face of Turkey’s stand-up comedy scene and is arguably Turkey’s most in-demand celebrity. His anecdotal humor and observational comedic style won him critical acclaim in his stand-up comedy act ‘Fundamentals.’ Since then, his career has blossomed into one of the most successful in entertainment. He is also widely respected as a filmmaker and actor.
Cem Yilmaz’ target audience runs the gamut from university students to taxi drivers – an achievement that cannot be overstated in a country all too often known for its deep cultural divide. This unique reach has undoubtedly been pivotal to his success. As a result, the Turkish box offices have been very kind to him; the vast majority of his films are instant blockbusters.
While Cem Yilmaz’ stand-up material is often Turkey-centric, his films have a considerable following abroad. Cem Yilmaz’ films are also popular in Germany, where a large Turkish-German expatriate community flock to his newest releases.
COMEDY
While studying at the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management of Bogazici University, he started drawing comics for the Turkish humor magazine ‘Leman.’ In August 1995 he did his first stand-up comedy show in Leman Culture Center in Istanbul, Turkey performing with no serious career intentions as a comedian. However, after the positive response of the audience, he continued his show to attract larger crowds in Besiktas Cultural Center, Istanbul where he has appeared in over a thousand stand-up comedy shows since, becoming so popular that tickets have sold for the equivalent of US$140.
FILM
His movie career started in 1998 with a co-starring role in the comedy ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Great’ (1998), directed by Ömer Vargi, and continued with a role in ‘Vizontele’ (2001), directed by Yilmaz Erdogan and Ömer Faruk Sorak. He achieved his greatest success by starring in and writing big-budget science-fiction parody G.O.R.A. (2004), also directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak, which became a box-office hit and described by Rekin Teksoy as a strong sign that showed that popular cinema was successful in appealing to wide audiences. He maintained this success with a starring role in the comedy feature movie ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ (2005) AKA ‘Magic Carpet Ride’, also directed by Yilmaz Erdogan, for which he won Best Supporting Actor at the 11th Sadri Alisik Awards, and his directorial debut with ‘The Magician’ (2006), co-directed by Ali Taner Baltaci, for which he won Best Actor at the 34th Brussels International Independent Film Festival and 12th Sadri Alisik Awards.
He has since repeated his box office success with a sequel to ‘G.O.R.A.’ (2004) called ‘A.R.O.G’ (2008), also co-directed by Ali Taner Baltaci, and comedy Western parody called ‘Yahsi Bati – The Ottoman Cowboys’ (2009), directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak. That same year, he co-starred, alongside veteran actor Sener Sen, in the police drama ‘Hunting Season’ (2010), written and directed by Yavuz Turgul, and made a special appearance in drama ‘Zefir’ (2010), written and directed by Belma Bas. After two years he also acted in Ferzan Özpetek’s ‘A Magnificent Haunting’ (2012). After he filmed his last stand-up comedy show ‘CM101MMXI Fundamentals’ (2013) directed by Murat Dündar, he took a break from stand-up comedy.

As Alice falls down the rabbit hole and experiences every kind of transformation, so will the audience.

“An outburst of pure joy…nothing less than spectacular.” – NJArts.net
A Newark tradition for over two decades, the Fort Lee-based company Nai-Ni Chen Dance returns to NJPAC to welcome the coming of the Spring of 2025, the Year of the Snake. The NAI-NI CHEN DANCE Company will celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year of the Snake on Saturday & Sunday, February 1-2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at the Victoria Theater of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, 1 Center Street, Newark NJ, 07102.
Join Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company for spellbinding family matinee performances as it embraces the spirit of the Year of the Snake through the power and beauty of dance. A highlight of the winter season at NJPAC, this annual celebration weaves together graceful movements and vibrant costumes to bring ancient traditions to life. Audiences experience majestic dragons, dancing lions, elegant peacocks, stunning acrobats, twirling ribbons, and much more! In what has become an annual tradition, Nai-Ni Chen helps usher in an auspicious Lunar New Year, surrounded by the warmth of the Newark community, the joy of cultural celebration, and the spirit of renewal. The run time of the show will be 90 minutes including intermission.
Music with authentic Chinese musical instruments will be played in the program, performed by the Chinese Music Ensemble of New York (CMENY). The Company will premiere a new dance for the Year of the Snake with a collaboration using the music, ‘Dances of the Golden Snake.’ The new dance will be created by Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company’s Director of Traditional Dance and Preservation, Ying Shi. This unique live music/dance using Chinese instruments provides an experience that can only be seen in this program in the United States.

‘LION IN THE CITY’ is based on the traditional Chinese Lion Dance, which is the most popular dance performed in the Chinese New Year Celebration. The Lion Dance is a prayer for peace on earth as a child is able to play with a ferocious beast in harmony. There are many styles of the Lion Dance in China. Last year, the Company was celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop and memorializing the pioneering spirit of Nai-Ni Chen, who began working with Rokafella and Kwikstep in 2017, developing a dialogue between her contemporary/Chinese movement style and hip-hop. This dance was originally commissioned by the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in 2023. It is being repeated by popular demand.
SNAKE DUET (working title) is a new dance based on one of the most important legends about the snake in the Chinese tradition, the Legend of the White Snake. It is a love story about a powerful magical White Snake and her best friend the Green Snake coming to seek eternal love on earth but their journey suffered oppression and rejection for their identity. Long believed to be a story that advocates for women’s status in the traditionally male-dominated, ancient Chinese society, this dance shows the solidarity between the two snake women and their bond of sisterhood.
TIGER AND WATER LILIES was originally commissioned by Ballet Met in Cleveland. Nai-Ni Chen created Tiger and Water Lilies for ballet dancers, with movements that are within the range of contemporary ballet and yet emphasize some of the key aspects of Asian dance movements. The male and female dancers represent contrasting ideas of motion vs. stillness, animal vs. plant and strength vs. beauty.

UNFOLDING is a dance based on the common heritage of the Chinese and Korean people. On the Korean flag is the symbol from I-Ching, the Book of Changes, which describes the laws of the changing universe in ancient China. I-Ching says, “The Tao is ever changing, alternating, moving without rest.” As nature unfolds at a vibrant pace, so does our life’s journey. This dance was originally commissioned by Dancing in the Streets in New York and premiered in the gardens of Wave Hill in the Bronx.
DRAGON FESTIVAL is based on the traditional Chinese Dragon Dance. The Dragon Dance is the most spectacular folk dance performed in the Chinese New Year Celebration. The Dragon carries auspicious powers and nature’s grace. The Chinese Dragon is a spiritual and cultural symbol that represents prosperity and good luck, as well as a water deity that nurtures harmony. It controls rainfall, rivers, and ocean. For those fortunate to see this dance in the Chinese New Year, their coming year will be filled with peace, harmony, and good fortune.

WNYC
On July 8th, 1924, WNYC began broadcasting at 570 AM. In battle with other stations and the FCC, the frequency shifted over the years to 810 AM, 830 AM and finally to its present location at 820 AM.
The station added an FM antenna and transmitter on top of the Municipal Building and on March 13, 1943 began full operation on the “static-less” FM band. During the WWII and into the 1950s, WNYC was the city’s primary clearing house for civil defense information.
It also expanded its child-oriented programming while continuing to be a leader in classical and American music programming. In March 1995, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani agreed to sell WNYC AM and FM to the WNYC Foundation for $20 million. On January 7, 1997 the City transferred ownership of the licenses to the WNYC Foundation and on March 11, 1997, the licenses were assigned by the Foundation to WNYC Radio. The station strives to continue a legacy of innovative programs under the distinguished leadership of President and CEO Laura Walker, the first non-mayoral appointee in WNYC’s history. With the launch of wnyc.org in 1998, the station extended its virtual community internationally.
In October 2009 WQXR joined WNYC as part of the New York Public Radio family followed two years later by WNJT FM-Trenton, WNJB FM-Sussex, WNJY FM-Netcong, and WNJO FM-Toms River comprising New Jersey Public Radio and WQXQ in 2013. WNYC Studios were launched in 2015 as a major new multi-million-dollar investment to incubate talent and double down on podcasts.
Today, WNYC Radio (93.9 FM and 820 AM) is the most listened-to public radio station in the United States. With extraordinary support from listeners, corporations and foundations WNYC Radio is now independent of city government having paid for its broadcast licenses. WNYC is a member station of National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Radio International (PRI). Since 1940 WNYC and WQXR have been honored with 22 Peabody Awards and citations.
WNYC’s history of providing innovative and award-winning news, educational, cultural and public affairs programming reflects the enormous diversity and cultural depth of the New York metropolitan area.

The Bethany Baptist Church of Newark celebrates 25 years of monthly Jazz Vespers!
By Mabel Pais
Join the community at Bethany Baptist for this free concert combining jazz music and worship. This takes place on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 6 PM at the Bethany Baptist Church at 275 W Market St, Newark, NJ 07103 (Phone – 973 623 8161).
January’s featured artists are the “musical power couple” (New York Times) Adegoke Steve Colson and Iqua Colson. Despite their international acclaim, the composer-pianist and vocalist-composer are deeply rooted in New Jersey, and have played an integral role in advancing jazz education across the state. This is a particularly meaningful return to the Bethany Baptist stage for Adegoke, who led the first Jazz Vespers ensemble at the inaugural concert 25 years ago. JazzTimes says the Colsons’ music “…draws you in with gaiety and swing and then hits you with more substance that you’d bargained for…Sharp ears, spot-on improvisational acumen and impeccable musical intelligence are the order of the day.”

IS MASS INCARCERATION A PERVASIVE SOCIAL ISSUE?
By Mabel Pais
While New Jersey has reduced its prison population by more than 50 percent since 2011, mass incarceration remains a pervasive social issue that disproportionately impacts people of color.

How can measures such as the elimination of extreme sentences and implementation of clemency create a more equitable criminal justice system?

Wharton Arts’ musicians will present A Concert for Peace with ‘Violins of Hope,’ a poignant tribute to human resilience and the power of music, on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.
Led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Helen H. Cha-Pyo, this special concert showcases the extraordinary ‘Violins of Hope,’ precious stringed instruments that survived the Holocaust. These instruments, some of which were played by prisoners of ghettos and death camps, have been meticulously restored by Israeli luthiers Amnon and Avshi Weinstein. Today, they serve as symbols of survival and perseverance, bringing hope to audiences worldwide. Join us for an unforgettable performance of remembrance, reflection, and renewal as we commemorate the resilience of the human spirit and honor the legacy of those who perished in the Holocaust.
The New Jersey Youth Symphony (NJYS) will perform works by Felix Mendelssohn, Paul Frucht, David Winkler, and Leonard Bernstein. During the rise of Hitler’s Third Reich in the twentieth century, Mendelssohn’s music was banned by the Nazis and his statue in Leipzig was destroyed (now rebuilt). Two ensembles of the New Jersey Youth Chorus, Coriste and Camerata, along with the Harmonium Choral Society, will join NJYS on stage, along with guest artists Asi Matathias and GRAMMY winner Ranaan Meyer.
“The Concert for Peace with Violins of Hope is more than just a performance—it’s a profound tribute to the enduring stories of human resilience, carried by these precious violins,” said Helen H. Cha-Pyo, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. “Through the voices of Wharton Arts youth musicians, a combined intergenerational chorus, and newly composed works performed alongside award-winning soloists, we bring these stories to life, ensuring their legacy inspires and uplifts generations to come.”
Wharton Arts Trustee Courtney Pantirer said, “Each instrument comes with a history of its owner which is an incredible way to share their story, the story of European Jewry, and to keep their memories alive. Now more than ever it is important to educate and teach this new generation. We are so excited to bring this incredible concert to our communities in New Jersey and be able to educate about the Holocaust while looking to the future.”

THIBAUDET PLAYS RAVEL WITH NEW JERSEY SYMPHONY AND EDUSEI CONDUCTS
THIBAUDET (Credit: njpac.org)
By Mabel Pais
JEAN-YVES THIBAUDET is set to perform with the New Jersey Symphony this January 9-12. Kevin John Edusei will conduct the four performances. The performances will take place at New Jersey locations, January 9-12 (see program below).
The program begins with Donghoon Shin’s ‘Of Rats and Men,’ which draws inspiration from two short stories: Franz Kafka’s ‘Josefine, die Sängerin oder Das Volk der Mäuse’ (‘Josephine the Singer, or the Mouse Folk’) and the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño’s ‘Police Rat.’ Shin’s piece makes use of the entire orchestra’s instrumentation while maintaining a transparency that allows different layers of sound to emerge.
The first half of the program closes with Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G, a work built upon broad musical influences. The sprightly outer movements feature jazz and blues influences, while Ravel drew inspiration from Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet for the central, beautifully simple slow movement.
The second half of the program features Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2, which was composed between 1901 and 1902. Arguably Sibelius’ best-known work, the Second Symphony is known for its unconventional first movement form and the stirring nationalistic hymn that forms the main thrust of the finale.

There were plenty of things that went wrong for Hollywood in the year 2024. There were box office flops (sorry, “Joker: Folie à Deux” and “Kraven the Hunter”), mass layoffs, continued labor unrest and a stunning lack of employment in the production space due to a broad contraction in the media and entertainment sector.
But not everything, or everyone, failed.
Disney gets its mojo back
Bob Iger came into 2024 with a challenging hand — a low stock price, a money-losing streaming business, a renewed proxy campaign from a prominent investor and a movie slate with only one Marvel Studios film. But while Disney is not fully in the clear yet, the company has emerged much stronger than many people expected.
Iger decisively beat the onslaught from Nelson Peltz and his hard-charging allies. The movie studio, which had a wobbly track record during the post-pandemic years, scored two $1-billion hits — “Inside Out 2” and “Deadpool and Wolverine” — and other big performers including “Moana 2” and “Alien: Romulus.” The stock is up more than 25% since the beginning of the year. Cable programmer and Hulu supplier FX dominated the TV awards season with “Shogun” and “The Bear.” And those streaming services? They’ve started turning quarterly profits, when all put together.
Yeah, sure, you might say. But serious questions remain in Disney’s comeback story. For example, how will ESPN’s upcoming flagship streaming service fare when it launches next year?
And here’s the big one: Who’s going to replace Iger when he steps down for good this time? Will it be one of the four division heads: TV chair Dana Walden, parks boss Josh D’Amaro, ESPN head Jimmy Pitaro or film czar Alan Bergman? Or an outsider? With James P. Gorman (Morgan Stanley‘s outgoing executive chairman) leading the succession process, Disney is hoping this transfer of power is less dramatic than previous rounds.
We’ll see in due time, as the company has set early 2026 as its target for making its selection.
David Ellison conquers the mountain
The deal almost fell apart, but after so much wrangling, Paramount Global will soon have a new chief: David Ellison, the son of Oracle Corp. billionaire Larry Ellison.
The task of fixing all that broke at Paramount under the Redstone family won’t be easy. Years of chronic under-investment won’t be overcome immediately, no matter how much techno know-how Ellison and his team bring to the famed Paramount movie studio, CBS, a second-tier streaming service and a collection of faltering cable networks. Cost cutting has already come and discussions about restructuring and leadership changes are underway.
Paramount has franchises like “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “Top Gun” and the Taylor Sheridan universe, but it needs more, and it needs to do more with what it has, according to Ellison and his private equity backers at RedBird. Easier said than done. But the industry is ready to give Ellison a chance. After all, he’s a movie guy.
This clearly won’t be the last of the big studio deals. Analysts expect more consolidation as cable channels continue to lose power, especially with the Trump administration anticipated to be more favorable to mergers and acquisitions than the Biden White House.
The movie musical makes a comeback
No one mourns the wicked, and no one should fear the movie musical. Universal Pictures and Jon M. Chu’s big-screen rendering of the Broadway smash “Wicked” has made hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office (mostly in the U.S.) and instantly catapulted Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo into the Oscar race. “Part Two,” now titled “Wicked: For Good,” comes out next year.
The movie musical is a tradition as old as Hollywood itself, but the genre had come on hard times in recent years, thanks to flops such as “Cats,” “Dear Evan Hansen” and “The Color Purple.” Despite the success of movies such as “Wonka” and “The Greatest Showman,” studios seemed nervous to advertise the musical elements of their song-and-dance extravaganzas. Well, no need this time. If anyone went into “Wicked” not knowing it was a musical, that’s on them.
Studios should know musicals aren’t a turn-off for audiences, especially if fans are already obsessed with the soundtrack. That level of familiarity is what helped propel the record-breaking box office opening weekend of “Moana 2.” (Animation has been a true bright spot for the movie business, with the “Inside Out” sequel, “Despicable Me 4” and “The Wild Robot”).
Funnily enough, “Wicked” isn’t the only musical in the awards conversation. Netflix’s big contender is the operatic “Emilia Pérez,” a boundary-pushing festival darling that received mostly positive reviews but a tepid response from streaming audiences.
Podcasters shake up news media
Politicians doing podcast interviews and nonpolitical media appearances is not a new phenomenon. The latter is a tradition going back to Richard Nixon going on “Laugh-In” and Bill Clinton playing the sax on “The Arsenio Hall Show.”
But for President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign, sitting for long, friendly podcast interviews wasn’t just part of the Republican presidential candidate’s media strategy. It was the strategy. Trump talked at length to Joe Rogan, Theo Von and the “Flagrant” guys Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh, all to target their loyal audience of young men. Trump did this while avoiding traditional outlets like “60 Minutes,” which he sued over how it edited its interview with his opponent.
Vice President Kamala Harris’ failed campaign also used podcasts like Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy,” while still doing more standard TV appearances. Hindsight suggests her interview on “The View,” in which she couldn’t say what she would’ve done differently from President Biden, might’ve done more harm than good.
The biggest takeaway? The declining relevance of legacy news media as a force that can shape public opinion — a consequence of declining viewership and historically low trust in mainstream institutions.
2024 proved to be a roller-coaster year for Bollywood. Following the blockbuster-filled 2023, expectations soared, but the industry found itself struggling to deliver consistent hits. While some films soared to record-breaking heights, others stumbled, leaving audiences and producers disappointed. This year saw the rise of pan-India films, a trend that is starting to redefine the Indian box office and bringing audiences together like never before.
Here’s an in-depth analysis of the hits, flops, and trends that defined Bollywood in 2024.
Bollywood hits of 2024: The bright spots in a dull year
While the first half of the year struggled to produce notable successes, the second half reignited Bollywood’s box office fortunes. Leading the charge were crowd-pullers like Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Singham Again, which brought audiences back to theatres.
Stree 2
Releasing on Independence Day, Stree 2 emerged as the year’s biggest hit, raking in Rs 627.02 crore at the box office. The much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy not only shattered records but also reinforced Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s bankability. The movie’s mix of humour and scares connected with audiences across the country, turning it into a cultural sensation.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
Kartik Aaryan’s return to the horror-comedy genre was met with roaring applause. With Vidya Balan reprising her iconic role and Madhuri Dixit joining the cast, the film delivered a stellar Rs 278.42 crore. Its clash with Singham Again didn’t dent its performance, proving the popularity of the franchise.
Singham Again
Ajay Devgn returned to his most iconic role as Bajirao Singham in this Rohit Shetty-directed cop drama. Packed with star power, including Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone, Singham Again held its ground during the Diwali weekend, collecting Rs 268.35 crore.
Fighter
Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s aerial action thriller lived up to the hype, amassing Rs 205.55 crore. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film set a new benchmark for action choreography in Bollywood.
Bollywood’s biggest flops of 2024
2024 was a tough year for big-screen releases, proving that even star power and massive budgets can’t guarantee success. Films like Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Alia Bhatt’s Jigra struggled to make a mark at the box office, reminding everyone that a strong, engaging story matters more than a glittering cast or a hefty production budget.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
One of the year’s most expensive productions, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan brought together Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff but failed to translate the star power into box office numbers. Poor storytelling and lacklustre execution led to its downfall.
Jigra
Alia Bhatt’s much-hyped Jigra became a cautionary tale for filmmakers, grossing Rs 30.69 crore despite claims of box office fraud. Despite Alia’s outstanding performance, the film failed to resonate with audiences due to poor plot and execution.
Sarfira
Akshay Kumar’s performance in Sarfira was praised, but weak marketing and stiff competition from Stree 2 limited its earnings to just Rs 22.13 crore.
South film takes centre stage
The year 2024 was the big year for South Indian cinema, especially Telugu films. These films not only wowed audiences in their home states, but they also dominated the Hindi-speaking market, frequently exceeding Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters and proving that great storytelling transcends language barriers.
Pushpa 2: The Rule
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 was a juggernaut, with the movie collecting Rs 618.50 crore. Its gripping storyline, mass appeal, and chart-topping music made it an unstoppable force at the box office.
Kalki, 2898 AD
This sci-fi epic starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan defied expectations with its pan-India appeal. The film grossed Rs 294.25 crore, setting new standards for the genre.
What was the reason for Bollywood’s struggles in 2024?
The superstar gap
Unlike 2023, which saw Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol, and Ranbir Kapoor deliver enormous hits, 2024 lacked a continuous superstar-driven blockbuster.
Weak scripts
Audiences rejected films that failed to offer compelling narratives, regardless of star power.
Re-releases shine
Movies like Rockstar and Tumbbad surprisingly outshined the latest releases, proving that audiences are still craving powerful, well-told stories over flashy new titles.
Bollywood in 2025
The upcoming year holds promise with an exciting lineup, including:
– Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s Jolly LLB 3
– Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2
– Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947
– Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2
– The multi-starrer Housefull 5

Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King takes us back to the Pride Lands to explore the origin story of the mighty lion king, Mufasa. The prequel to The Lion King [1994] dives into the humble beginnings of Simba’s father, tracing his journey from an orphaned cub – an outsider – to his rise as the beloved leader of Pride Rock.
Mufasa: The Lion King opens with Rafiki (John Kani) recounting the story of Mufasa (voiced by Aaron Pierre) to Kiara [Simba’s daughter], Timon and Pumbaa, sharing how the once-ordinary cub overcame his vulnerabilities and status as an outsider to become a king. During a flood, Mufasa gets separated from his parents to find himself in new surroundings where he meets Taka [Kelvin Harrison Jr], who eventually becomes Scar. The bond between young Mufasa and Taka starts as brotherly love but spirals into rivalry during their escapade to Milele. Despite meeting familiar characters, the lacklustre screenplay by Jeff Nathanson undercuts the story’s emotional depth, leaving potentially poignant moments feeling hollow. On the brighter side, the visuals are fantastic. Disney once again delivers photo-realistic animation that brings the Pride Lands to life with stunning detail.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s highly-publicised split is far from over. After almost 6 months of their Will they? Won’t they? divorce drama and promises to part amicably, tensions are running high behind the scenes as they struggle to finalise details. The situation has become so contentious that Affleck has reportedly been spending more time with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner while avoiding his ex at all costs. Their complicated co-parenting scene only adds to the drama, as they both seek a smooth transition for their blended families.
The Jenny From the Block singer filed for divorce without a lawyer on the couple’s second wedding anniversary. Since then, the two have largely been spending time apart and rarely been seen together, despite their attempts to present a friendly split. A source told In Touch that the situation has grown “increasingly tense and argumentative,” with Affleck choosing to spend more time with his ex-wife rather than addressing the ongoing divorce.
Lopez “feels sidelined and frustrated,” believing Affleck should meet her demands, but he remains resolute believing he has been fair and that Lopez is deliberately prolonging the process.
“It’s been six months since she filed and nothing has been resolved, it doesn’t seem like they’re anywhere close to finalising the divorce,” the source added. The insider continued, “They both said they wanted to do it amicably and have even talked a good game about wanting to consciously uncouple, but that plan seems to be out the window because they can’t agree on how to divide things up, which of course is affecting things.”
The divorce argument makes sense since the couple entered their marriage on uneven footing, with Lopez’s $400 million net worth greatly outweighing Affleck’s $150 million, and no prenup in place. “She’s worth more than twice as much as him so it’s especially hard for him not to see this as her being vindictive and greedy,” the source added. “They both say they’re desperate to avoid more drama, but the longer this drags on, the worse it’s going to get.”
