Fox News viewers were quick to criticize Donald Trump after he lost it at an ABC News reporter.
DALLAS (TIP): The president, 80, had traveled to Dallas, Texas, for the Republican midterm convention. The event kicked off on Wednesday, September 9, and will run until Thursday, September 10. Trump spoke to reporters ahead of the convention and was questioned by ABC News reporter Mary Bruce about Republican candidates skipping the event. “Mr President, several Republicans in competitive races are not coming to the convention. Do you understand why they’re deciding not to come?” Bruce asked in an exchange which aired live on Fox News. It comes as Trump gave a long speech at the convention, during which he seemed to try and bribe voters.
Trump responded to Bruce, “Everybody’s coming to the convention. Everybody wants to come, but we only want, and the people that — by the way, we’re going to be sold out tonight, just so you understand. Who are you with?”
She revealed, “ABC News, sir.” This didn’t sit well with the president, who dubbed the network “ABC fake news.” He added, “One of the worst — you are the worst of all, in my opinion.”
Trump finally answered the question and said, “The reason that some people are not coming is because we don’t have room for 500 politicians. We have room for the ones that have a close race, if they’re slightly behind or slightly ahead or tied.
“But we don’t have room for people that are 35 points up and don’t need to be there. We said stay back and campaign. Every politician that we wanted to be there is there.”
A clip of the Fox News segment was shared on X and viewers were quick to criticize Trump. “Hahahahaha, you pathetic tub o’ goo,” one critic mocked as they gave the president a new nickname.
Someone else fumed, “I wish reporters wouldn’t always play nice when Trump asks what organization they’re with. It just plays into his hands. A better response would have been “I’m with the United States, who are YOU with?””
Another X user agreed, “When he asks who you are with just say Fox.” One Fox News viewer asked, “Can he only get oxygen from the air when he lies? Does he suffocate if he tells the truth too often?”
A fifth person questioned, “Did you ever notice that we never had fake news, until we got a fake president? Think about that. Take your time,” while someone else said, “His level of creativity when it comes to LIES is astronomical!”
“The ease with which Trump just switches to a new lie when confronted about the first lie would be comical if he weren’t the president of the United States,” one Trump critic fumed, while someone else joked, “DonOLD is Such a loser!”
