Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2′ has taken the box office by storm with its collection. The film directed by Anil Sharma witnessed a grand opening and it looked like it would surpass the lifetime haul of the first ‘Gadar’ within its first weekend.
Sunny Deol who made his stupendous debut in the film ‘Betaab,’ has returned to the screen with yet another power-packed film and is delivering hits at 65. With performances by prolific actors and powerful dialogues and the iconic hand pump, ‘Gadar 2’ showcased Tara Singh and Sakeena’s legacy, set amidst the tumultuous Crush India Movement of 1971.
Despite locking horns with Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’, ‘Gadar 2’ emerged to be the second-highest opener of 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 40 crore nett India on its first day. ‘Gadar 2’ was released 23 years after ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. Sunny Deol’s film, however, outperformed Prabhas’ big-budget mythological epic Adipurush, which debuted with Rs 32 crore. Given the weekend, it seems that the film will continue to soar to heights and eerge as another blockbuster of the year.
Apart from Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the cast also includes Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Luv Sinha, Simrat Kaur, Mir Sarwar, Rohit Choudhary and Rakesh Bedi, among others. The music for ‘Gadar 2’ is composed by Mithoon, while the background score is composed by Monty Sharma.

Gadar 2 song Khairiyat: Sunny Deol crosses mountains to bring son home
Khairiyat, a new song from Gadar 2, was released on Tuesday. The over three-minute-long track gives us a glimpse of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s lives as they await meeting their son played by Utkarsh Sharma.
In the video, an emotional Sunny Deol (Tara Singh) is seen travelling on top of a bus crossing mountains and rivers, while reading a letter. Back home, Ameesha (Sakeena) gets emotional as she prays for her son. On the other hand, their son Utkarsh (Charanjeet), now all grown up, remembers the happy time he spent with his family.
The video doesn’t reveal how Charanjeet got separated from his family. Sunny while travelling prays to every God to keep his son safe. Throughout the song, all three of them cry, remember their good old times together and pray. Khairiyat is composed by Mithoon, written by Sayeed Quadri and sung by Arijit Singh.
Bringing back the magic and nostalgia of Tara and Sakina’s love story, the film’s team recently rearranged the iconic chartbuster, Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava. In no time the song started trending across various social media platforms and garnered tremendous love and appreciation from the fans. -
Sunny Deol wields a hammer in first poster of ‘Gadar 2’
The makers of ‘Gadar 2’ on the occasion of Republic Day unveiled the first look of Sunny Deol, one of its lead stars in the upcoming romantic period action drama. A sequel of the superhit 2001 film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, the movie will also see other original stars Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprise their roles. Filmmaker Anil Sharma, who also helmed the original, has directed the follow-up which is produced by Zee Studios.
The first poster of the film shows Deol as the muscular Tara Singh wielding a big hammer amid destruction, with the tagline ‘Hindustan Zindabad’. Sharma said the team is “thrilled” to launch the first poster of ‘Gadar 2’.
“‘Gadar – Ek Prem Katha’ isn’t my film but it’s a people’s film and dynamically shifted the paradigm of the Indian film industry. It went on to become a cult icon wherein people breathed Tara Singh and Sakina’s love story,” the director said in a statement. The first movie followed the love story of Tara Singh (Deol), an Indian Sikh man, and Sakina (Patel), a Pakistani Muslim woman, during the turbulent times of Partition. Source: PTI
