Hollywood star and humanitarian Angelina Jolie made a surprise visit to Kherson, a southern Ukrainian frontline city, Ukrainian media reported on Wednesday. This is the actor’s second visit to the country since Russia launched its invasion, and was made right after the recent drone strikes on Kherson.
Pictures of the actor wearing a bulletproof vest with Ukrainian insignia and visiting children’s hospitals and maternity wards were posted on social media on Wednesday. One picture showed the Hollywood star with armour and a helmet outdoors, and another had her posing with a Ukrainian soldier whose face was blurred.
Reports in Ukrainian media also claimed that Angelina was flanked by local bodyguards during her visit, one of whom was drafted by the Ukrainian Army mid-trip. The reports state that Angelina had to go to the conscription office to get him released.
Kherson is a city which was briefly occupied by Moscow in 2022 and still comes under daily Russian bombardment.
Neither Angelina nor the Ukrainian government has confirmed the visit to Kherson, which lies on the other side of the Dnieper River from the Russian army.

Not apologising for being a sex symbol, says Sydney Sweeney
Sydney Sweeney has set the record straight on those swirling rumours about her appearance. ‘The Euphoria’ and ‘The White Lotus’ star addressed social media speculation suggesting she’s had cosmetic procedures, and she’s not holding back.
In an interview with Variety, the 28-year-old dismissed the claims, saying, “I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing.” She added, “I’m going to age gracefully,” putting an end to chatter comparing her current looks to photos from her teens.
For weeks, Reddit threads and social media users had speculated about possible Botox, fillers, and even a nose job, with one user claiming her upper lip looked “significantly bigger” and another insisting “the nose job is obvious.” Despite the online scrutiny, Sweeney remains unfazed.
The actor noted that much of the public perception around her stems from the bold, complex women she portrays on screen. “Because I play a lot of very divisive characters, people think they know me,” she said. “But they don’t. So when people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning into that,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good, and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’”
Sweeney went on to say she hopes to inspire other women to embrace their confidence unapologetically. “You shouldn’t have to hide or cover up in any room,” she said. “Just flaunt what you’ve got and feel good.”
Reflecting on her journey in Hollywood, the actor also opened up about learning to assert her worth in the industry. “Being an actress, it’s a lot harder to stand in the room and demand your worth,” she said. “I have to remind myself, ‘Hey, Syd, you’re actually powerful. Stand up a little taller.’” -

Kim Kardashian turned 45 on October 21 and chose Paris as the backdrop for her birthday celebrations, coinciding with the promotion of Ryan Murphy’s legal drama ‘All’s Fair’. The event brought together Kardashian’s co-stars, family, and friends for a series of high-profile festivities, including a glamorous premiere and an exclusive after-party. Kardashian’s social media provided glimpses of the evening, capturing both extravagant elements and personal touches that marked the milestone occasion.
The birthday festivities began with Kardashian attending the premiere of ‘All’s Fair’ alongside co-stars Naomi Watts, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, Sarah Paulson, and Teyana Taylor. Her mother, Kris Jenner, was also present, adding a familial note to the evening.
Following the premiere, Kardashian and her guests moved to Crazy Horse Paris for an after-party described as over-the-top. Designer Amina Muaddi shared clips of the group singing Stevie Wonder’s ‘Happy Birthday’, surrounding Kardashian with a tower of cakes.
During the after-party, Kardashian wore Look 28 from Givenchy by Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 1997 haute couture collection, known as ‘Search for the Golden Fleece’. Earlier, she had appeared at the premiere in a powder-blue vintage Dior gown from John Galliano’s 2000 collection.

Scarlett Johansson reacts to rumors of playing the villain in Disney’s live-action ‘Tangled’
Scarlett Johansson has finally spoken about the swirling rumours linking her to Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of ‘Tangled’. Reports have suggested that the actress and singer might play the cunning Mother Gothel, the villain who keeps Rapunzel locked away in a tower.
In a recent chat with ‘People’, they asked Johansson directly about the possibility of joining the film. With a smile, she replied, “Is there a real possibility?” before adding thoughtfully, “I think anything is possible.”
While she didn’t confirm her involvement, Johansson did express genuine excitement about the idea of working with Michael Gracey, the filmmaker behind ‘The Greatest Showman’, who is going to direct the project.
“What would excite me about it would be the opportunity to work with Michael Gracey because he is just an extraordinary visionary,” she said. “Any actor would love to have that collaboration with him.”
Disney first announced plans for a live-action version of ‘Tangled’ back in December 2024, with Gracey taking the director’s chair. However, as ‘Deadline’ reported earlier this month, the studio put the project on hold in April 2025.
The pause came after Disney’s ‘Snow White’ remake starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot struggled to perform at the box office.
For now, the studio hasn’t made any official casting announcements. Still, industry insiders suggest Johansson might play Mother Gothel, the manipulative woman who steals baby Rapunzel from her royal parents and raises her in isolation to exploit her magical hair. In the original 2010 animated film, that character got voice of Donna Murphy, whose performance remains one of the movie’s highlights.
The original ‘Tangled’ loosely inspired by the Brothers Grimm’s 19th-century ‘Rapunzel’ fairy tale was a major success for Disney, earning over $590 million worldwide. It followed the story of Princess Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore), who escapes her tower prison with the help of the charming thief Flynn Rider (voiced by Zachary Levi).
Meanwhile, the actress has had a busy year on the big screen. She appeared in ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ and ‘The Phoenician Scheme’, and made her directorial debut with ‘Eleanor the Great’, which is currently playing in theatres. -

Actor Keira Knightley has admitted that she is unaware of the heated discourse surrounding the Harry Potter franchise, despite many Hollywood stars having openly spoken out against it. The actor, who has been busy promoting her Netflix release The Woman in Cabin 10, told Deadline that she was not ‘aware’ that many have called for a boycott of the Harry Potter franchise in recent times over J.K.Rowling’s anti-trans statements.
Upon asking about the boycott, Keira said, “I was not aware of that, no. I’m very sorry. You know, I think we’re all living in a period of time right now where we’re all going to have to figure out how to live together, aren’t we? And we’ve all got very different opinions. Emma’s recent comments on the podcast with Jay Shetty reignited the debate. She said that she could disagree with Rowling’s views on the trans community while cherishing the memories of working with the Harry Potter writer. JK Rowling went on to criticise Emma as someone who lives a privileged life and is not qualified to speak on sensitive matters like the debate on trans identity.

The duo, all smiles on the red carpet, chatted intimately and posed for photos, marking their first public appearance together since their divorce was finalised earlier this year. This movie is exquisite. Jennifer, you’re incredible. Bill, you did an amazing job. [Tonatiuh], you’re phenomenal. Welcome to a lifelong stardom. Enjoy it. There’s ups and downs, but here you are. It’s really, truly a thrill and honour, and I’m just proud of this movie. Thank you for letting me be part of it,” he said. Julia Roberts says Hollywood is still a male-dominated industry
Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts feels Hollywood is a male-dominated environment after all her years in the film industry.
Roberts said that she can relate to her character Alma Imhoff in the new movie After the Hunt, who claims she had to be successful in a “deeply misogynist” world to become a professor at Yale University.
Asked if her experience mirrored Alma’s, Roberts told The Sunday Times newspaper: “Well, it’s still super-male! Make no mistake. But yes. Any woman in any job not populated in the majority by women can say Alma’s speech.”
“We’ve all had that experience. Any woman has. Because I often find myself sitting at a table and, maybe, there’s only one other woman there,” added the 57-year-old actress. Roberts said she has had to be fearless to make herself heard in a male-dominated world, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
The “Ticket To Paradise” star said: “In those sort of environments. I am without fear.” The actress said that she decided to accept a role in Luca Guadagnino’s flick After the Hunt despite not being able to decide whether or not she liked the troubled university professor she portrays.

Michelle Pfeiffer recalls audition for Al Pacino starrer Scarface
Actress and film producer Michelle Pfeiffer recalled her audition process for Brian De Palma’s directorial crime drama ‘Scarface’, also starring Al Pacino, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She shared the moment when Pacino was convinced she was perfect for the role of Elvira in the 1983 film.
She recently appeared on the SmartLess podcast, hosted by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes, and recalled being part of the movie. Michelle said that while the filmmaker wanted her for the part, Pacino didn’t initially feel the same way.
“Al will admit this,” she said, “but he didn’t really want me for the part,” as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.
She recalled meeting De Palma and the casting director and failing her initial audition for the film. However, “over the course of two months, I just got worse and worse and worse, because I’m just afraid. And by the end, I’m bad.”
Pfeiffer admitted she didn’t “blame” Pacino for his initial reaction. “He just was like, ‘She’s bad.’ And Brian finally comes to me and says, ‘You know, doll, it’s just not gonna work out. I’m like, ‘I know, man. I’m sorry.’ Because Brian really wanted me,” she said, as per the outlet.
“As disappointed as I was,” the ace star continued, “I was so happy to be done with it. So, like, at least a month goes by, and I get a call, they want to bring me in to screen test. So I show up and I don’t even give a shit, ’cause I know I’m not getting this part.”
Pfeiffer recalled that the “restaurant scene where I explode at the end,” ended up being “my best work of the film.”
“I swipe the table of the dishes and glasses break, the dishes break, cut. There’s blood everywhere. They all run over to me, to see where I’ve cut myself. Well, I didn’t cut me. I cut Al,” she recalled, adding that she “cut him in the finger or something,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I thought, ‘Well, there goes that part.’ But actually, I think that was the day [Pacino] was like, ‘Yeah, yeah. I think, yeah, she’s not bad,’” Pfeiffer added.
The 1983 crime classic follows determined, criminal-minded Cuban immigrant Tony Montana (Pacino), who becomes the biggest drug smuggler in Miami and is eventually undone by his own drug addiction. Elvira was Tony’s troubled wife, a drug-addicted socialite, who was the former lover of his boss, Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nicole Kidman may lose $11 million to Keith Urban over prenup cocaine clause
Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, married since 2006, are reportedly ending their marriage after nearly two decades. The couple share two daughters and have reportedly been living apart since the summer, with Urban touring and Kidman staying with their children.
During filming in London, Kidman rented a Hampstead property. Reports indicate Kidman has filed for divorce.
Attention has turned to a clause in their prenuptial agreement. According to RadarOnline.com, the agreement, signed before their wedding, entitles Urban to USD 600,000 for each year of marriage if he remained sober. This could result in Urban receiving over USD 11 million after the divorce. The clause is reportedly linked to Urban’s past struggles with substance abuse and was included to incentivise sobriety.
They have reportedly lived separately for months, with Urban moving out of their Nashville home. Their last major public appearance was at an AFI tribute, where Urban praised Kidman. These developments and the divorce filing have drawn attention to their personal circumstances and the financial implications of their agreement.
Keith Urban has been open about his struggles with drugs and alcohol. In a 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Urban credited Kidman with initiating an intervention shortly after their wedding, saying, “She made a decision to turn around and initiate, ultimately, this intervention… I was like, ‘Put the cuffs on, let’s go.’”
Urban has acknowledged the difficulties he faced early in the marriage, stating, “We got married in 2006, and barely four months into our marriage, the addictions that I had done really nothing about blew our marriage to smithereens.” The sobriety clause, designed to support his recovery, is now a focal point in the divorce.
Sources have described Kidman’s reaction to the agreement’s terms. One report states Nicole is “consumed with anger” that Keith stands to collect the full amount, reportedly USD 11.4 million. -

Always felt like an ‘underdog’ in Hollywood: Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez said she considers herself an “underdog,” despite having a decades-long career in acting.
During Sept. 28’s episode of CBS News Sunday Morning, the star spoke to host Lee Cowan about her career and her latest movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman. It’s Lopez’s first-ever movie musical, the showcase that she says she has “been waiting for my whole life.”
In the interview, Lopez, 56, opened up about having to prove herself as an actress when others wanted to box her in as only a dancer or singer.
“People, when they see you first as one thing, it’s hard for them to see you as something else. You just have to show them. You can’t let that discourage you,” explained Lopez.
Cowan asked, “Did you struggle to be taken seriously at first?” Lopez responded with a laugh: “At first? At first — and maybe always.”
“A little bit. Or maybe it’s just me in my own head,” she added. “I don’t know. I’ve always felt a bit of the underdog. Definitely misunderstood. But it comes with the territory of being in the public eye. People are not gonna really know who you are, your heart. And then they see it and go, ‘Oh, that’s who she is,’ then they hear something and they go, ‘Oh, no, that’s not who she is.’ And they get confused. I get it. I understand.”
“But I stay steady,” said Lopez. “And that’s the most important thing, I think. I don’t change. I grow, but I don’t change.” Cowan pointed out that Lopez has starred in movies opposite other A-listers like Robert Redford, Jane Fonda, George Clooney and Robin Williams, so “how could you not be taken seriously?” Lopez said, “I don’t know.”
Lopez has been nominated for two Golden Globe awards: Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for 1997’s Selena and Best Supporting Actress for 2019’s Hustlers. Hustlers also earned Lopez nods at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards.
Kiss of the Spider Woman will be in theaters Oct. 10 after making its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Lopez stars alongside Diego Luna and Tonatiuh as a “silver screen diva” named Aurora, a.k.a. Ingrid Luna.
An adaptation of the 1976 novel and its Tony Award–winning Broadway musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman comes from director Bill Condon, who wrote the Chicago movie musical that won six Oscars in 2003, including Best Picture. -

Tom Cruise planning to get married to Ana de Armas?
The world of Hollywood isn’t just buzzing about Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s split. Rumor has it that Tom Cruise could be ready to take his romance with actor Ana de Armas to the next level, with whispers suggesting the couple is even considering saying their “I dos” while skydiving.
As per a report by RadarOnline, Tom and Ana de want their wedding to be as “mind-blowing as a Mission: Impossible stunt”. Though the pair isn’t yet officially engaged, they are busy making their wedding plans.
“One of the things that really bonds them is how much they both love doing these daring feats, so having a wedding that leans into that really appeals to both of them,” an insider said, adding, “Tom is already thinking on a larger-than-life scale. He’s obsessed with space travel, so the idea of being the first couple to ever marry in outer space excites him. They’ve also talked about some sort of skydiving thing, saying their vows mid-air. Whatever they do they want it to be as far from ordinary as you can get.”
The Top Gun star, 63, has been very guarded about his relationship with the 37-year-old Ana de Armas. They got together earlier this year, and have been getting steady since then. -

‘I no longer recognise my country’, says Angelina Jolie over free speech concern
American actress Angelina Jolie said she no longer recognises her country, voicing concern over threats to free expression while presenting her latest film at Spain’s San Sebastin film festival.
Her comments come as worries grow over free speech in the United States, after President Donald Trump’s crackdown on critical media and the recent suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s show over comments on the killing of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.
“I love my country, but I don’t at this time recognise my country,” Jolie said when asked if she feared for freedom of speech in the United States.
“Anything, anywhere, that divides or, of course, limits personal expressions and freedoms and, from anyone, I think is very dangerous,” she added.
“These are very, very heavy times we’re all living in together.”
Jolie, 50, was in San Sebastian to promote “Couture”, directed by French filmmaker Alice Winocour, which is competing for the festival’s top prize, the Golden Shell.
She plays Maxine Walker, an American film director facing divorce and a serious illness while navigating Paris Fashion Week and embarking on a romance with a colleague, played by French actor Louis Garrel.
The Oscar-winning actress — honoured in 1999 for her role in “Girl, Interrupted” — said she related personally to the struggles of her latest character.
Jolie underwent a double mastectomy in 2013 and later had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to reduce her high genetic risk of cancer, which claimed the lives of her mother and grandmother.
Visibly moved, she said she thought often of her mother while making the film.
“I wish she was able to speak more as openly as I have been, and have people respond as graciously as you have, and not feel as alone,” Jolie said.
“There’s something very particular to women’s cancers, because obviously it affects us, you know, how we feel as women,” she added. -

Claudia Cardinale, star of ‘8½’ and ‘The Leopard,’ dies at 87
Acclaimed Italian actor Claudia Cardinale, who starred in some of the most celebrated European films of the 1960s and 1970s, has died, AFP reported Tuesday. She was 87.
She starred in more than 100 films and made-for-television productions, but she was best known for embodying youthful purity in Federico Fellini’s “8½,” in which she co-starred with Marcello Mastroianni in 1963.
Cardinale also won praise for her role as Angelica Sedara in Luchino Visconti’s award-winning screen adaption of the historical novel “The Leopard” that same year and a reformed prostitute in Sergio Leone’s spaghetti western “Once Upon a Time in the West” in 1968.
She died in Nemours, France, surrounded by her children, her agent Laurent Savry told AFP. Savry and his agency did not immediately return emailed requests for comment from The Associated Press.
Cardinale began her movie-career at the age of 17 after winning a beauty contest in Tunisia, where she was born of Sicilian parents who had emigrated to North Africa. The contest brought her to the Venice Film Festival, where she came to the attention of the Italian movie industry.
Before entering the beauty contest she had expected to become a school teacher.
“The fact I’m making movies is just an accident,” Cardinale recalled while accepting a lifetime achievement award at the Berlin Film Festival in 2002. “When they asked me ‘do you want to be in the movies?’ I said no and they insisted for six months.” Her success came in the wake of Sophia Loren’s international stardom and she was touted as Italy’s answer to Brigitte Bardot. While never achieving the level of success of the French actor, she nonetheless was considered a star and worked with the leading directors in Europe and Hollywood.
“They gave me everything,” Cardinale said. “It’s marvelous to live so many lives. I’ve been living more than 150 lives, totally different women.” One of her earliest roles was as a black-clad Sicilian girl in the 1958 comedy classic “Big Deal on Madonna Street.” It was produced by Franco Cristaldi, who managed her early career and to whom she was married from 1966 to 1975. The sensuous brunette with enormous eyes was often cast as a hot-blooded woman. As she had a deep voice and spoke Italian with a heavy French accent, her voice was dubbed in her early movies. -

Madelyn Cline Sparks Romance Rumors With Prince of Greece
The Outer Banks star recently stepped out with Prince Constantine-Alexios, a member of Greece and Denmark’s royal families, at the Lions Bar in New York, looking extremely cozy.
In blurry photos obtained by social media gossip account Deux Moi Sept. 23, the actress, 27, and prince, 26, appeared to be in the own world during the outing, embracing and stealing kisses with each other.
Naturally, fans were quick to show their love for the possible romance.
“Good for her,” several fans wrote beneath the photos, with another quipping, “Queen behavior.”
Hours before the bar outing was captured, Madelyn and Constantine-Alexios walked the streets of New York hand-in-hand, dressed casually and paying no mind to onlookers as they sped down a busy sidewalk. One fan cheekily wrote beneath the video of the occasion, also obtained by Deux Moi, “This is such iconic behavior of her.”
Neither Madelyn, nor Constantine-Alexios, has addressed the romantic speculation. E! News has reached out to reps for both parties but has not yet heard back.
