ABBOTSFORD, CA (TIP): The videos began circulating widely on August 17, 2026, although the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) said the incidents shown in the footage actually occurred in late July.
According to reports, the footage showed a woman dumping items into the water at Mill Lake and in the area of Blue Jay Elementary School. Police launched an investigation after being alerted to the videos and worked with the people who originally posted the footage to identify the individual.
Police thank public for helping identify woman
Abbotsford police credited members of the public and the original video posters for helping investigators identify the woman.
At the same time, police urged residents to report incidents directly rather than relying solely on social-media posts.
“This is what effective community policing looks like: citizens and police working together in a measured, thoughtful, and respectful way,” Sgt. Paul Walker said, according to reports. Police did not release the woman’s identity, citing privacy legislation. The department’s public-information policy notes that privacy laws can limit the release of personal details involving individuals.
