Vikas Anand is set to become the next dean of the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business

VERMONT (TIP) : Indian American educationist Vikas Anand is set to become the next dean of the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business. Anand will begin his tenure on July 1, 2026, bringing more than two decades of academic and administrative experience to the flagship business school, the university announced Monday, February 2.

University of Vermont President Marlen Tromp praised Anand’s appointment as a strategic fit for the school’s future, saying, “His record as a scholar, educator, and innovative administrator will be a tremendous asset to UVM. We look forward to his leadership as we continue to elevate the Grossman School’s impact on our students and the broader community.”
Anand’s appointment comes at a time of expansion and innovation for the Grossman School, which has gained national attention for its emphasis on experiential learning and socially responsible business education. Recent initiatives at UVM include accelerated co-op programs and expanded global study opportunities that aim to connect classroom learning with real-world professional settings.
As dean, Anand will guide Grossman’s academic strategy, support faculty research, and help shape partnerships with industry and community stakeholders. His leadership will play a key role in preparing students for careers in a complex and rapidly evolving global economy.
Anand currently serves as associate dean for academic programs at the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University, where he has overseen a wide range of initiatives spanning undergraduate and graduate curricula, executive education, global partnerships, and student career services. Under his direction, Poole experienced notable enrollment gains, curricular modernization, and stronger employment outcomes for graduates.
Before his work at North Carolina State, Anand held a string of leadership roles at the University of Arkansas, including executive director of MBA programs and chair of the management department. There, he played a central role in reimagining graduate offerings, launching new master’s degrees and expanding executive MBA enrollment. His approach emphasized experiential learning as a core element of business education.
Anand holds a PhD in management from Arizona State University and is a published author in top peer-reviewed journals, with his research cited thousands of times.
He has taught across all levels of business education, from undergraduate courses to doctoral seminars, and has earned recognition for his classroom teaching and mentorship.
Colleagues describe Anand as a leader who blends academic rigor with a forward-looking vision for business schools. His work in sustainability, artificial intelligence, and global education has helped shape programs that reflect the changing needs of students and employers.
“Dr. Anand is a thoughtful and effective leader,” said UVM Interim Provost Linda Schadler. “His experience with interdisciplinary and emerging areas will especially benefit the Grossman School.”
