Indian American Google Cloud chief Amit Zavery moves to ServiceNow as COO

SANTA CLARA, CA (TIP): : Just a day after announcing his departure from Google after “six incredible years,” the search giant’s Indian American cloud chief Amit Zavery, is taking the COO role at Santa Clara, California-based software company ServiceNow.

ServiceNow that develops a cloud computing platform to help companies manage digital workflows for enterprise operations, said that Zavery will serve as “president, chief product officer (CPO), and chief operating officer (COO) to lead product and engineering, effective Oct 28.”

“In his role as president, CPO, and COO, Zavery’s responsibilities include ServiceNow’s platform, products, engineering, cloud infrastructure, and user experience. He also leads enterprise-wide operations to ensure business rigor—from innovation to execution,” the company stated.

Zavery, a Google Cloud and Oracle executive, brings extensive experience in enterprise innovation, transformation, and scale, it said.

“With more than three decades in enterprise technology, Zavery is a visionary leader who blends deep technical expertise with proven business acumen. He has extensive experience in platform development, enterprise applications, data management, middleware, security, and artificial intelligence (AI). Zavery’s strong understanding of the enterprise market drives his customer-centric approach to engineering, ensuring solutions meet real-world business needs. He has played a pivotal role in the building and commercialization of enterprise-grade experiences, successfully scaling products and integrating AI across diverse business applications.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining ServiceNow, a company with a strong culture of innovation, engineering excellence, and customer focus,” said Zavery. “I’m excited to build on the incredible legacy of ServiceNow’s founder, Fred Luddy, building scalable, impactful solutions that address real-world challenges while continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible for our customers by integrating cutting-edge technologies like generative AI.” During nearly six years at Google Cloud, as VP/GM and head of platform, Zavery was part of the leadership team that grew the company into the fourth largest enterprise software company in the world along with increasing annualized revenue from $7billion to over $41billion while also helping to improve operating margin by more than 70 percentage points over the last four years.

At Oracle where Zavery spent nearly 25 years, he started as a software engineer and eventually rose to executive vice president of product development. In this role, he led the cloud platform, middleware, security, analytics, and Java offerings, overseeing a team of 4,500 and generating more than $6billion in annual revenue.

In his farewell LinkedIn post, Zavery said leaving Google was “the toughest goodbye,” but added, “I’m excited about the new adventures and opportunities ahead.”

“The decision to leave Google is one of the toughest I’ve ever made. Working at Google has truly been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and tremendous honor,” he wrote. “Over nearly six years, I’ve learned an incredible amount, had so much fun, and witnessed remarkable growth in the business,” Zavery wrote. “Helping grow Google Cloud from $7.3billion to over $41billon in annualized revenue and contributing to the creation of the world’s fourth-largest enterprise software company, has been a career-defining privilege.

Expressing his “deepest gratitude to the people who made these years truly unforgettable,” Zavery wrote. “Together, we’ve tackled challenges, celebrated victories, and pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved as a team, and I’ll carry forward the invaluable lessons and lasting relationships from this journey.” Zavery gave a “huge thank you to Sundar Pichai and Thomas Kurian, my team, colleagues, mentors, and friends at Google for your constant support, encouragement, and inspiration.”

“While this goodbye is bittersweet, I’m excited about the new adventures and opportunities ahead,” he wrote. “I look forward to staying in touch, collaborating in the future, and continuing to learn from this incredible community. Go Google Cloud!!Here’s to the next chapter!”
