Jaipur Surgeon Becomes Rajasthan’s First to Serve as a Faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons of England

LONDON (TIP): In a significant academic milestone for Rajasthan’s medical fraternity, Jaipur-based Orthopedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon Dr Rohil Singh Kakkar has become the first orthopedic surgeon from Rajasthan to serve as a Faculty for the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) course with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The CCrISP programme is an internationally recognized advanced surgical training course designed to strengthen the systematic assessment, clinical decision-making and management of critically ill surgical patients, with emphasis on recognizing clinical deterioration, prioritizing physiological problems and delivering timely multidisciplinary care. As Faculty, Dr Kakkar contributed to the structured teaching and training of surgical professionals through a programme that forms an important part of advanced surgical education and the development of clinical skills in managing high-risk surgical patients.

This academic role represents a notable distinction, providing Dr Kakkar a platform to contribute to the education and training of surgeons within one of the world’s oldest and most respected surgical institutions.

It is noteworthy that Dr Kakkar is also among the very few surgeons from Rajasthan to have earned the superspeciality MCh Orthopedics degree from Ninewells Hospital, Scotland, and a Fellowship in Joint Reconstruction Surgery at the Nuffield Orthopedic Centre, Oxford, England.

He has also served as a Consultant Joint Replacement and Orthopedic Surgeon at Eternal Hospital, Jaipur, and Marble City Hospital, Kishangarh, where he successfully treated more than 5000 patients.

Alongside his surgical practice, Dr Kakkar has remained actively involved in advancing orthopedic education and research. His areas of interest include joint replacement surgery, complex trauma and arthroscopy and limb reconstruction. This latest academic achievement highlights the growing representation of Rajasthan’s medical professionals in global surgical education.
