Actor Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is back in action, this time alongside football superstar Lionel Messi. Sony Pictures has unveiled a new promotional video for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, bringing together the beloved web-slinger and the Argentine icon in a surprise crossover tied to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The fun clip features Holland’s Peter Parker sharing the screen with Messi in a light-hearted encounter that blends superhero thrills with football fever.
The short promo opens with Peter Parker speaking to a friend on the phone while sitting in a cafe. Moments later, Messi walks in carrying a Spidey-Tracker as he searches for the friendly neighbourhood superhero.
Peter quickly slips away to change into his Spider-Man suit before returning to take the football star on a web-swing across the city. The playful sequence ends with the pair soaring above the skyline, offering fans a fun crossover between the Marvel universe and the FIFA World Cup.
The crossover comes ahead of Argentina’s FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 clash against Cape Verde, with Lionel Scaloni’s side aiming to defend its world title. The timing is significant as Messi heads into the knockout stage as the tournament’s leading goalscorer with six goals. Alongside the teaser, a fresh report from entertainment insider Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus claims that Tom Holland is now playing a bigger role in the creative process of the Spider-Man franchise. According to the report, Holland’s involvement is said to be similar to the creative input Tom Hiddleston had during the development of Loki.
