Embassy of India Organises Special Screening of Bollywood Blockbuster Border 2 at AFI Cotroceni Cinema City, Bucharest

BUCHAREST (TIP): The Embassy of India in Bucharest successfully organised a special screening of the Bollywood blockbuster film Border 2 on 4th March 2026 at AFI Cotroceni Cinema City, Bucharest. The screening was held in connection with the celebrations of the Holi Festival, reflecting the spirit of friendship, cultural exchange, and the longstanding ties between India and Romania.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the diplomatic corps, officials from the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives from business and cultural institutions, members of the Indian community, as well as a large number of Romanian friends of India. The gathering created a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to experience the richness of Indian cinema and culture.

More than 250 guests attended the screening, highlighting the growing interest in Indian films and cultural traditions in Romania. The audience responded very positively to the film and appreciated the Embassy’s initiative to present contemporary Indian cinema to Romanian audiences. Many participants expressed their desire to see more screenings of popular and modern Indian films in the future. The wide participation further underscored the strong people-to-people connections and the steadily strengthening cultural relations between India and Romania, countries that share a long history of friendly and cooperative ties.

Prior to the screening, H.E. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Romania, addressed the audience and warmly welcomed the distinguished guests. In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the important role of cinema as a powerful medium for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between nations. He emphasized that films provide a unique platform to share stories, traditions, and values, thereby strengthening connections between societies.

The Ambassador also conveyed his sincere appreciation to Mr. Rahul Walia, CEO of Touchdown Media, who travelled from the United States to facilitate the screening rights of the film Border 2 and support the presentation of the film to audiences in Romania. The Ambassador extended his sincere gratitude to T-Series for their generous support in facilitating the movie screening at no cost, enabling a seamless and successful event. This arrangement was made with the understanding that the Embassy would help promote Indian Bollywood cinema in emerging markets in Eastern Europe. The photographs, videos, interviews, audience interactions, and overall event coverage have been shared with T-Series for their publicity and promotional purposes, further amplifying the outreach of the event and strengthening the promotion of Indian cinema in the region.
