BUCHAREST(TIP): The Embassy of India in Bucharest successfully organised a special screening of the Bollywood film “Dhurandhar” on 27 January 2026 at Cinema Europa, Bucharest, as part of celebrations marking India’s 77th Republic Day. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the diplomatic corps, officials from the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of business and cultural institutions, members of the Indian community, and a large number of Romanian friends of India.

More than 200 guests attended the screening, reflecting the growing interest in Indian cinema and culture in Romania. The audience response was highly positive, with many participants expressing appreciation for the initiative and requesting more screenings of contemporary and popular Indian films in the future. The event attracted attendees from diverse backgrounds, underscoring the strong people-to-people connect and the steadily strengthening cultural relations between India and Romania, which share a longstanding history of friendly ties.
Prior to the screening, H.E. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Romania, addressed the gathering and welcomed the guests. In his special remarks, he highlighted the role of cinema as a powerful medium for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between nations. The Ambassador expressed appreciation to Mr. Pranab Kapadia, Director of MovieGoers Entertainment, who came personally from the UK, for facilitating the screening, and to Mr. Rahul Walia, CEO of Touchdown Media, who also came personally from USA, for their support in bringing the film to Romanian audiences.

The event served as an effective cultural outreach initiative, showcasing the vibrancy and diversity of Indian cinema while strengthening cultural engagement between India and Romania. The evening concluded on a warm note, with participants expressing appreciation to the Embassy for organising the screening and contributing to enhanced cultural interaction between the two countries.
