BUCHAREST (TIP): Embassy successfully organized a Semiar cum Hybrid B2B Event on Renewable Energy on 30 March 2026, bringing together senior policymakers, industry leaders, financial experts, and innovative companies from India and Romania. The event was held in a hybrid format, enabling participation both in person and online, and aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the renewable energy sector, while exploring investment opportunities, technology partnerships, and policy frameworks.

The event commenced with a keynote address by Mr. Cristian Bușoi, State Secretary, Ministry of Energy of Romania, who emphasized Romania’s commitment to energy transition, diversification of energy sources, and strengthening regional energy security. He highlighted the importance of international partnerships, particularly with India, in accelerating the adoption of renewable energy technologies and achieving sustainability goals.
During the session, Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Romania and the Republic of Moldova, delivered a keynote address highlighting the strong and steadily expanding India–Romania partnership, particularly in the field of renewable energy. He underscored India’s emergence as a global leader in clean energy, driven by ambitious targets in solar, wind, and green hydrogen, as well as its commitment to achieving sustainable and inclusive growth. The Ambassador emphasized that India’s experience in scaling up renewable capacity, supported by policy innovation and technological advancements, offers valuable opportunities for collaboration with Romania.

He further encouraged Romanian stakeholders to actively engage with Indian companies to explore joint ventures, technology transfer, co-development of projects, and investment partnerships, noting that such collaborations could contribute significantly to energy security, economic growth, and the green transition in both countries.
A panel discussion featuring distinguished experts provided in-depth insights into geopolitical, financial, and technological dimensions of the energy sector:
- Ștefan Popescu, Former State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Romgaz Black Sea, spoke on the geopolitical dynamics in the Black Sea region and their implications for energy connectivity, including linkages with the Republic of Moldova.
- Radu Delicote, Geopolitical Analyst, Smartlink Communications, highlighted Romania’s strategic potential as a gateway to Central and Eastern Europe, offering significant opportunities for energy investments and regional integration.
- Liviu Gavrilă, Energy Expert, discussed emerging trends and challenges in wind and solar energy development, including grid integration and scalability.
- Bogdan Hossu, Founder, Wise Finance Solutions, elaborated on European funding mechanisms and state aid schemes available for renewable energy projects.
- Corneliu Bodea, President, Romanian Energy Center and CEO, Adrem, presented a European perspective on energy transition, emphasizing Romania’s role in the region and the need to enhance implementation capacity for large-scale energy projects.
The session was moderated by Ms. Mihaela Nyerges, Founder, Nyerges Partners, who guided the discussion toward actionable insights and collaboration opportunities.

The B2B segment featured participation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), represented by Ms. Bavleen Kaur, Senior Director, who facilitated business interactions and promoted industry linkages. Leading Indian companies presented their capabilities and explored collaboration opportunities with Romanian counterparts. The Indian companies showcased diverse capabilities in renewable energy and sustainability, including Luthra Group; Hinduja Renewables (3,000+ MW operational, 10,000 MW under development); TriNANO Technologies (advanced photovoltaic coatings); Suzlon Energy (21,000+ MW global wind capacity); InSolare Energy (solar EPC & storage solutions); Waste2Resources (tyre recycling); and Shakti Group (biofuels & ethanol).

The B2B session enabled direct interactions between Indian and Romanian companies, fostering discussions on joint ventures, project development, financing, and technology transfer. The Event marked a significant step in strengthening India–Romania cooperation in the energy sector. It reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to sustainable development, energy security, and innovation-driven growth.
