Widespread applause for Dr. Samin K. Sharma’s appointment as Chief of Clinical Cardiology at Mount Sinai

NEW YORK (TIP): Dr. Samin Sharma’s appointment as Chief of Clinical Cardiology at Mount Sinai has been widely applauded. Dr. Purnima Voria, Founder & CEO, National U.S.-India Chamber of Commerce (NUICC, and President, Rajasthan Foundation USA Inc. congratulated Dr. Samin K. Sharma on his appointment as Chief of Clinical Cardiology at Mount Sinai Health System.

Many other well-known organizations, including The Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA), New York, Jaipur Foot USA, and BRUHUD NY Seniors have extended their heartiest congratulations to world-renowned interventional cardiologist Dr. Samin K. Sharma on his appointment as Chief of Clinical Cardiology at Mount Sinai, New York.

RANA President Prem Bhandari said that Dr. Sharma’s appointment is a matter of immense pride not only for Rajasthan, but also for India and the United States.

“Dr. Samin Sharma is not only the pride of Rajasthan, but also the pride of India and the United States. His extraordinary contributions to interventional cardiology, patient care, innovation, and medical leadership over more than three decades have earned him worldwide respect. This appointment is a fitting recognition of his exceptional service and dedication,” Bhandari said.

Dr. Sharma is a Patron Member of the Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA), New York, an elite global organization of Rajasthanis across the world. RANA has held four International Rajasthani Conventions in New York, which were attended twice by former Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot along with his Cabinet members, and once by former Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje along with her Cabinet members. Bhandari said that the 5th International Rajasthani Convention will be held in New York next year.

Recalling Dr. Sharma’s longstanding association with RANA, Bhandari said that Dr. Sharma has been one of the organization’s strongest supporters since its inception and has also been a great supporter of Jaipur Foot USA and its humanitarian initiatives.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, through Mount Sinai Hospital and in collaboration with Jaipur Foot USA, Dr. Sharma was instrumental in facilitating the shipment of hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of modern ventilators to India. In addition, in his personal capacity, he arranged and sent life-saving medicines to India on several occasions during the pandemic, helping save countless lives when medical supplies were critically needed.

Bhandari further recalled that nearly two decades ago, Dr. Sharma established EHCC Hospital in Jaipur, a state-of-the-art cardiac care institution. Today, EHCC is serving not only patients from Rajasthan but also patients from neighboring states and countries, providing world-class cardiac treatment.

The octogenarian Haridas Kotahwala, a pioneer of gemstone business in New York, and a leader of the jeweler community, a stalwart associated with a number of community institutions, including the Rajasthan Foundation which he chairs, has welcomed Dr. Samin Sharma’s appointment, saying: “Mount Sinai could not have found a better person for the job. Dr. Samin is number one interventional cardiologist of the world.” He congratulated Dr. Sharma on his appointment, and said he has brought honor to Rajasthan, a State to which both belong.
