After his patriotic role in Border 2, actor Varun Dhawan returns to romantic-comedy, a genre he’s most associated with, in his new film titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The teaser, unveiled on Tuesday, introduces a “double trouble love story” featuring Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur alongside Dhawan. The project also marks Dhawan’s reunion with his father and director, David Dhawan.
The teaser opens with AI-generated toddlers talking about their parents, hinting at a love triangle involving two heroines and one hero. It is accompanied by a revamped version of Ishq Sona Hai, originally from David Dhawan’s 1999 film Biwi No. 1, now serving as the title and the title track for the film.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai showcases a vibrant, feel-good world filled with high energy. The film signals Bollywood’s return to romantic comedy, a genre that has been overshadowed recently by action-heavy stories.
