‘Dancing with the Stars’ reveals new Super Bowl theme night for Season 35

Dancing with the Stars is taking its signature ballroom competition to the gridiron. The ABC reality dance series has announced its first-ever “Super Bowl Night” for Season 35, giving contestants a chance to turn some of the biggest moments in Super Bowl entertainment history into dance performances.
The special episode will air on October 13, during the fifth week of the competition. The announcement was made by judge Derek Hough on Good Morning America on Wednesday, September 30, after the latest episode of the show.
According to ABC, the episode will celebrate the “music, spectacle and unforgettable moments” associated with the Super Bowl. The remaining couples will perform to songs that have featured in or become closely associated with some of the game’s most memorable halftime performances.
While the network has not yet revealed the individual songs or dance styles, the theme opens the door to music from some of the most spectacular halftime shows of the past. USA Today noted that performances from artists such as Prince and Beyoncé could provide inspiration for the episode.
The special also comes as part of ABC and ESPN’s buildup to Super Bowl LXI, which will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on February 14, 2027. ABC and ESPN are scheduled to televise the game.
The Super Bowl theme fills the only previously undisclosed slot in Season 35’s theme-night calendar. It follows Mariah Carey Night on October 6 and will be followed by Dedication Night on October 20 and Horror Movie Night on October 27. Disney Night and Grammy Night are also planned for November before the competition moves into its semifinal and finale stages.
Season 35 premiered in September with 16 celebrity contestants. The competition has already seen several eliminations, including musician Taylor Hanson, who and professional partner Britt Stewart were sent home during Yacht Rock Night on September 29.
With its combination of iconic music, football imagery and ballroom choreography, Super Bowl Night is set to give DWTS one of its most distinctly American pop-culture-themed episodes yet.
