  • Paint Them Eggs For Chic Interiors

Paint Them Eggs For Chic Interiors

The art of egg painting and decoration has been around for a while. With a little paint and creativity you can turn your egg into a fun decoration.

    1. First step is to drain the egg. Hold it over a bowl and make two small holes in it. Poke a pin into it to break the yoke and now allow the insides to flow out.

    2. Dry the egg. Once done, heat the oven and place them in a baking sheet and allow them to bake for about half an hour on low heat. It does not matter if they are discolored; remember they will be getting a fresh coat of paint.

    3. Now, plug the holes with light cement or plaster of Paris.

    4. To start painting, first go over the eggs with a coat of white acrylic primer. Always use acrylic paint as it adheres to the shell better. Leave overnight to dry.

    5. The next day, paint the design of your choice on your egg. You can do plant patterns, zig-zags and names.

Tip: To make a spray-painted one, hold an egg over butter paper. Dip a brush in paint and run your thumb through its bristles to spray paint the egg. Leave it to dry.

  • Things Never To Tell Your Hubby

Things Never To Tell Your Hubby

Do you fake an orgasm when you actually didn’t? Or find faults with the your husband’s way of handling the kids, or pester him to find a new job? You may not realize it, but by saying so, you are making irreparable damages to your relationship. Following is a list of nine statements compiled by Judy Ford, psychotherapist and author of ‘Every Day Love’ that you should never utter to your significant other, reports the Mother Nature Network.

First comes: “Yes, I had an orgasm.”

Another statement that is a strict no-no is “You’re just like your father.” It’s nasty and belittling, says Ford.

The third forbidden statement is actually very common: “When are you going to find a new job?”

The fourth hurtful statement is: “My mother warned me you’d do this!”

The fifth line, which is never a good idea to say, is “Just leave it — I’ll do it myself !” Just because he’s doing something differently than you would doesn’t mean that he’s doing it wrong.

The sixth statement, which can be heart breaking, is “You always… [fill in the blank]” or “You never… [fill in the blank]”

Then seventh statement that can be a serious blow is “Do you really think those pants are flattering?” Saying so, you’re insulting his looks without showing any genuine concern for his health, according to Ford.

Then eighth harsh statement is “Ugh, we’re hanging out with him again?, which is an insult to your man’s choice of friends. The last but not the least is “Please watch the kids. But don’t do this, take them here or forget that…” Let Dad-be-dad.

  • Do Up Home With Lovely Bamboo Furniture

Do Up Home With Lovely Bamboo Furniture

It’s strong, eco friendly, a tad more expensive than the usual raw materials used. But bamboo furniture and clothing is worth a try. In today’s world where every raw material use demands a thought into sustainability and eco friendliness, use of bamboo as alternative raw material can be a reasonable pick.

While in the North-eastern parts in India, owing to the topography and geographical conditions, bamboo has had found its uses in many variations and utilities, furniture designers and apparel designers are making quick moves in coming up with more feasible and sustainable options with bamboo.

While it may surprise most of us that not only there is research going on in the making of bamboo furniture, but there are lot of experimentations going on about the use of bamboo in textiles, an alternative to cotton. With its biodegradable nature, bamboo comes as a better pick for a home which stands for the environment.

In India, institutions like the National Institute of Design have pioneered the research work in things that can be designed in bamboo. Taking the research further is Professor MP Ranjan of NID who has devoted most of his time on bamboo furniture. Prof Ranjan has contributed many furniture designs using bamboo, some of which can be found in NID. According to Prof Ranjan, bamboo furniture is way expensive. While a dinner table for four with chairs may cost around more than 1 lakh rupees, experts in the field however say that this material stands for durability.

There are many ways in which you can bring home the bamboo:
1)If you think, clothes is a too far fetched idea, then think about furniture
2)Instead of the regular furniture, if you are looking for a change, certainly go for bamboo stuff.
3)If space is what you want to save, bamboo coffee table, chairs, for that matter reading table would not only make your home beautiful, but they will add an element of enigma and intrigue.
4)Bamboo centre table, bamboo stool along with bamboo sofa set only will add more class to your hall.
5)Invest in bamboo in a planned way. If you want to feel special while going to sleep, a bamboo bed will not only satiate your minimalistic instinct, but will also make your room envied.

  • How To Cure Hiccups

    How To Cure Hiccups

Hiccups can come at any time without warning. And sometimes, they can be extremely embarrassing. But the fact is, some simple techniques can stop hiccups. Here, take a look…

    Press your palm
Use the thumb of one hand to press the palm of the other hand — as hard as you can. Another tactic is to squeeze the ball of your left thumb between the thumb and forefinger of your right hand. You may feel discomfort, but it serves as a distraction that affects the nervous system and has the ability to stop your hiccups.
    Hold your breath
Take a long, deep breath and hold it for a few seconds. Experts say when there is a build-up of carbon dioxide in your lungs, the diaphragm relaxes and eases the hiccups.
    Shut your ears
Shut your ears for about 20 to 35 seconds. Another option is to press the soft areas behind your earlobes. This will send a signal to relax through the vagus nerve, which connects to the diaphragm.
    Put your tongue out
That’s right, stick your tongue out. This is a common trick employed by vocalists and actors when they perform, because it is known to stimulate the opening between the vocal cords. This helps you breathe more smoothly and stops the spasms that cause hiccups.
    Cover your mouth
Cup your hands over your nose and mouth. Continue breathing normally while you do this. This will stop the hiccups because of the extra dose of carbon dioxide.
    Drink water fast
Take about 10 sips quickly from a glass without stopping. When you gulp down a drink, rhythmic contractions of the osophagus override spasms of the diaphragm and stop you from hiccuping.

  • Sperms Dance To Calcium’s Tune

    Sperms Dance To Calcium’s Tune

In the journey up the female reproductive tract, sperm cells have to work through a range of viscous barriers and to do so they have to adapt their behaviour accordingly, researchers say.

Broadly speaking, sperms are either activated, swimming forwards in a spiral, or hyperactivated, thrashing wildly – used to enter the egg, New Scientist reported.

To find out how sperm switch from one stroke to the other, Stephen Publicover and his colleagues from the University of Birmingham, studied calcium signalling in human sperm cells.

Sperm cells appeared to be triggered when calcium enters through ion channels in the tail. When calcium is released from organelles inside the neck of the cell into the surrounding cytoplasm, the sperm became hyperactivated.

To verify the finding, the team used drugs like progesterone to artificially stimulate the movement of calcium within a sperm sample.

When they triggered calcium uptake through the tail of the sperm, it stimulated activated movement and the sperm moved along a mucus-filled tube more easily than in a drug-free sample. Similarly, triggering the release of calcium within the neck made the sperm hyperactivated.

  • Meet Nature’s Bizarre Bodyguards

    Meet Nature’s Bizarre Bodyguards

From blushing to itching — quirky gifts Mother Nature granted us, and how they help. Turns out, the wrinkles that appear on our fingertips when we’re having a soak in the tub are nature’s answer to slippery fingers and help us grip better. Who knew? Newcastle University experts made the discovery, and many other researchers have questioned why our bodies do what they do too. With their constant leaking, creaking, throbbing and burping, our bodies often embarrass us. But while they do let us down from time to time, they are also the product of millions of years of evolution.

So what other quirky gifts did Mother Nature grant us?
    GOOSEBUMPS:
Like it or lump it, the funny little pimples we get when we’re cold are good for us. They heat us up as quickly as possible, and are a hangover from our days on all fours when we were covered in fur, the journal Scientific American says. Goose bumps are caused by muscles contracting, allowing hairier people to retain more heat.

    ITCHING:
This mysterious sensation has baffled scientists for years but without it we would be lost. Dr Zhou- Feng Chen, a professor at the Washington University School of Medicine Pain Center, calls it a ‘perception’. For humans, for example, it is the equivalent to a cat’s whiskers. Nerves in the skin send signals to the brain ringing alarm bells that something is not quite right. The urgent desire to make it go away leads to our scratching. But while this sometimes brings intense pleasure, it can also be the worst thing you can do.

    BLUSHING:
According to psychologists from Cambridge University, blushing has evolved as a product of the communication and social interaction with other human beings. It signals to others that we are upset or embarrassed and that they should perhaps leave us alone. Think about that the next time you are cheeky.

    ADRENALINE RUSH:
There was a time when most people would have felt the rush of adrenaline through their bodies at the howl of a wolf pack. But these days we are more likely to feel it outside a kebab shop on a Friday night when the local bruiser kicks off. The heart races, limbs feel wobbly and there’s a heightened sense of everything around — do you fight, or take flight? This is nature’s high octane method of keeping us alive in threatening situations and without these rapid-fire changes, not many of us would have made it this far. The term fight or flight was first coined in 1932 by Harvard Medical School professor Walter Bradford Cannon.

    SWEATING:
The opposite to goose bumps, sweating keeps us cool — and a little stinky too. Although it often makes us feel hotter, it is essential, otherwise we would suffer heatstroke and die on one of those rare hot days in the summer. According to the Journal of Applied Physiology, we have around two million sweat glands.
    SNOT:
It’s not nice, of that there is no doubt. And millions of us will be producing bucket loads of the stuff at the moment. But researchers at the University of Waikato in New Zealand revealed how mucus is actually one of nature’s ingenious traps. It evolved to prevent nasty germs making it through our noses and into our lungs, where they could do a lot more damage. Now that’s not something to sneeze at, is it?

    SNEEZING:
While mucus provides a barrier against viruses entering our bodies through our airways, its side-kick sneezing is evolution’s solution to getting rid of the germs for good. But people do not just sneeze when they have a cold. The body developed it as a way of combating allergens. Common pub mythology says our sneezes can hit 100mph but the Discovery Channel revealed the average is 40mph.

    CRYING:
Try as you might to hold them in, sometimes the tears just have to come out. And according to Professor Randolph Cornelius, of Vassar College New York, not only do they moisten our eyeballs, tears also act as a signal to those closest to us. The theory is that, crying developed as discreet signal to convey that we were vulnerable, which predators could not pick up on.

  • New Heart Cells Keep Forming In Kids Too

New Heart Cells Keep Forming In Kids Too

After nearly a century of debate on whether heart muscle cells are generated after birth or they simply grow larger, researchers now say children and adolescents too generate these cells. The first ever finding refutes the long-held belief that the human heart grows only after birth and exclusively because existing cells grow larger, thus opening the way to growing new cells to repair injured hearts.

Beginning in 2009, Bernhard Kuhn and his team from the Boston Children’s Hospital looked at specimens from healthy human hearts, aged between 0 to 59 years, the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reported. Using several lab essays, they documented that cells in these hearts were still dividing after birth, significantly expanding the heart cell numbers, according to a Boston statement. The cells regenerated at their highest rates during infancy.

Regeneration declined after infancy, rose during the adolescent growth spurt, and continued up until around age 20. The findings offer the strongest evidence to date that proliferation of cardiomyocytes (cells making up heart muscle) contributes to growth in healthy young human hearts. “For more than 100 years, people have been debating whether human heart muscle cells are generated after birth or whether they simply grow larger,” Kuhn said.

  • Foods That Make You Look Younger

Foods That Make You Look Younger

These balanced eating rules will help your body defy the effects of time . Growing older is inevitable, but looking your age is not — and slashing years off your aging body starts with eating the right foods. A healthy diet loaded with lean protein and whole grains will allow you to retain muscle tone but lose excess fat as you age, while plenty of antioxidant-rich fruits and veggies will help stave off those wrinkles. Here’s a list of simple to-dos to keep you younger-looking, younger-feeling:

    Say yes to whole grains
The waistlines of middle-aged people who ate white bread and other white carbohydrates expanded three times more than those who ate wholemeal foods, according to an American research.

    See fish as your ally
Fish is a great source of the protein leptin, which acts like a hormone in the body and controls your appetite so you don’t overeat. Oily fish such as salmon contains high levels of omega- 3 fatty acids, which are potent wrinkle-fighters at any age. In fact, the ‘fish facelift diet’ was created as a result of this.

    Bacteria buddies

After you turn 35, levels of friendly gut bacteria drop significantly, leaving you at an increased risk of sluggish digestion and bloating. To combat this, have a probiotic drink or yoghurt every day.

    Moisturise from within
As you get older your skin becomes drier and flakier as the oil glands produce smaller amounts of natural moisturiser. Your skin also becomes less elastic, causing fine lines to develop. Eating foods containing healthy, natural oils, such as avocado, nuts, seeds and olive oil can have a softening and plumping effect on skin.

    Ditch the biscuit
For every decade you age once you turn 30, your body needs around one per cent fewer calories. The good news is you can easily drop these calories just by stopping your mid-morning biscuits or not having that extra slice of toast.

    Snack with care
Treats between meals tend to have heaps of calories crammed into small mouthfuls and will ensure you pile weight on around your middle and thighs — a dead giveaway of your true age. Foods such as ice cream, crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks all fall into this category, so limit them to a twicea- week treat and snack instead on a platter of brightly coloured fruits.

    Go easy on the booze
Reduce your alcohol intake to a small glass of red wine with dinner at weekends only. Not only is booze brimming with calories, drinking too much alcohol dehydrates skin and can age you prematurely.

    Stop skipping meals
This is a habit women tend to hang on to all their life, but you can get away with it in your 20s. In your 30s and 40s, all those decades of emergency dieting will have slowed your metabolism down permanently, making it tough to stay slim. Never go without food for more than three hours.

    Antioxidant-rich foods
Fruit, veggies and nuts contain powerful anti-ageing chemicals to keep you youthful.

    Slash your salt intake
Too much salt is bad for your body, as it causes water retention, leaving you heavy and sluggish. Besides, with age, the body’s ability to shift excess fluid also slows down. Cutting down salt will decrease this bloating. Beware of hidden sources of salt — often found in ready meals, soups and bread.

  • Don’t Let Menopause ‘Pause’ Your Life

Don’t Let Menopause ‘Pause’ Your Life

Menopause is not your final innings. Debarati S Sen speaks to experts to find out ways to deal with the physiological and psychological changes. Yes, women do know it is inevitable, yet when the pre-menopausal or menopausal symptoms begin, the alarmed, ‘What’s happening to me’? is the usual reaction.

The difficult part about this condition is that the changes women in their late 40s experience due to menopause, are not just physical but emotional and psychological as well. It signals the end of the natural fertility and periods. Gynaecologist Dr Suman Bijlani says, “Menopause is the transitional phase of a woman’s life when levels of the ‘female hormone’ estrogen plummets, leading to a myriad of effects in the female body.

The reproductive system is of course, the most affected and apart from that, your hair, skin, bones, heart, memory, emotional health and sexual life may all undergo various changes, though not necessarily negative. All in all, women need to make many mental and physical adjustments along the way.” Gynaecologist and obstetrician Dr Aditi Parmar says, “When a woman enters this period the first and foremost thing to do is to accept it gracefully. Yoga, meditation, regular exercises etc can help.” If you are suffering from hot flushes, dry and painful sex or bone pains, you may be a candidate for hormone replacement therapy, say doctors. “If you have undergone surgical removal of the ovaries (abrupt menopause), your hormones may need to be replaced and a gynaecologist should be consulted for the same,” states Dr Bijlani.

Apart from the day-to-day psychological irritants, serious medical problems in the form of osteoporosis and an increased risk of heart disease and stroke are important aspects to be tackled at this stage of life says Dr Aparna Buch.

However, minor lifestyle adjustments can go a long way in preventing bone loss, aches and pains and the risk of heart disease, gynaecological diseases, stroke and fractures. “One of the most important things that every woman should keep in mind is that never neglect your routine doctor visits.

The general body-checkup, yearly mammography, sonography and pap smear tests are extremely important,” says Parmar. Of course, there is no denying that this phase of a woman’s life isn’t simple to handle. However, following these simple tips can help you deal with it in a better way

  • Horrible Things Couples Do After Sex

Horrible Things Couples Do After Sex

Picture this: You are enjoying a steamy sex session with your partner. As your passion reaches its climax, an ultimate sexual joy is felt like never before. The moment both of you get over with this night of passion, your partner head towards your study and starts reading or turns over and falls into a dead slumber.

What a turn-off indeed! It’s just one of those mistakes that couples often commit soon after enjoying an intimate session with their partner. They might have made all the necessary efforts to satisfy their partner in bed, but just one little mistake can spoil all the fun! The nature of these after-sex mistakes hints that you were just waiting for sex to get over so you could indulge in some other nonsexual activity. Or in some cases, it shows that you had something else running through your mind while having sex.

Though these are absolutely unintentional acts that partners get caught up in, these are often the terrible goof-ups that kill the sexual mood. Also, couples fail to understand that switching off from the sexual state of mind can leave the other partner highly irked. Dr. Pushkar Gupta, a Chandigarhbased sex therapist opines, “It is very likely that partners who right away indulge in something else after having sex, might have performed sex as a duty and not an act of enjoyment.

While there are several ways to keep up the mood even after the actual sex is over, some partners look for ways to remain busy and thus they end up committing lesser known ‘after-sex’ mistakes.” Dr. Amita Mishra, sex and relationship expert states, “After enjoying the sexual act, if a partner tries to get involved in something not related to sex, it surely makes the other partner feel disowned. While there should be an effort to linger on with the sexual feel even after the actual act is over, couples who deviate from this mood are certainly affecting their sexual relationship.” We list some recurring ‘after-sex’ mistakes that couples indulge in. So the next time you get intimate, make sure you do not switch into something else just after finishing the act. Let the mood linger on for enhanced pleasure

    Falling asleep at once
Most couples come across this problem where either one of the partners or both would fall asleep soon after having sex. It certainly is a big goof-up that can kill the charm of sex. Sleeping at once would not allow you to cherish your performance and neither let you enjoy the mood with which you enjoyed that night of passion.

    Making way for washroom
Enjoying a hot shower together can be a great foreplay act, but rushing to the washroom right after a hot romp is definitely not! While couples won’t mind getting messy in their sexual acts, but as soon as it’s over, they make way to the washroom to clean-up. It might sound okay, but they forget that the other partner might still be enjoying that mood and want to have more of it. Heading straight to the washroom makes the other partner feel that there’s been something unpleasing about the act, which can mar your sexual bliss.

    Calling a friend
This is another common mistake that couples face after a steamy session. While it’s obvious that none would call a friend at odd hours to discuss official matters, so why can’t a petty talk wait till the morning? When it’s time to enjoy sex, it’s indeed a gaffe to keep your eyes and ears stuck onto your mobile phone waiting for a message or keeping an eye on your missed calls. It makes the other partner feel as if you’re just not interested and thus ruins all the fun.

    Heading towards study or work
What couples think of during sex remains an unanswered question. Those who head towards studyroom right after a romp may just give the answer. Thinking books and reading is indeed a sex blunder! Like sexual moments, it’s equally important to enjoy the after-sex pleasure. If you rather descend towards your study, leaving behind your partner, it won’t bring any good to your sexual relationship. If you prefer reading a book instead of cuddling and snuggling, you are indeed inviting trouble into your sex paradise.

    Sleeping separately
You might have a habit of sleeping separately in guest bedroom or on the terrace, but on a particular night when you’ve een intimate with your partner, exceptions are allowed. After a lovemaking session, it’s not a good idea to abandon your partner and pack your sheets and pillow to move to another room for a sound sleep. It will not only kill the passion on that night, but would also tarnish your sexual relations for several nights to follow.

    Bringing kids to sleep along
Letting anyone invade your sexual privacy is bound to mar your sexual pleasure and kids are no exception. Many mothers have a tendency to bring kids to sleep alongside on the same bed and if that happens after having sex, it can’t get worse. Well, such a gesture has all the reasons to annoy the other partner, who might have planned something more sensual to be enjoyed after a steamy romp.

    Eating another meal
Eating an aphrodisiacal meal together with your beloved can be a great start before a lovemaking act. But moving to the kitchen right after having sex looking for something to eat is equally disgusting. It ruins the entire passion and would make your partner feel that you didn’t enjoy sex just because you were hungry

  • Sunlight May Prevent Arthritis In Women

Sunlight May Prevent Arthritis In Women

Regular exposure to sunlight— specifically ultraviolet B (UVB)—may lower a woman’s risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis, according to a new study. But the effect of UVB exposure was only evident among older women, possibly because younger women are more aware of the hazards of sunlight and so cover up with sun block, suggest the authors.

They base their findings on participants in two phases of the US Nurses” Health Study (NHS), the first of which has tracked the health of more than 120,000 nurses since 1976, when they were aged between 30 and 55, until 2008. The second (NHSII) has tracked the health of a further 115,500 nurses since 1989, when they were aged between 25 and 42, until 2009. Rather than simply relying on geography to quantify likely levels of UVB exposure, the researchers used a more sensitive assessment, known as UV-B flux, which is a composite measure of UVB radiation, based on latitude, altitude, and cloud cover.

It is measured in R-B units: a count of 440 R-B units over 30 minutes, for example, is sufficient to produce slight redness in untanned white skin. Exposure was then estimated according to the US state of residence, and ranged from an annual average of 93 in Alaska and Oregon to 196 in Hawaii and Arizona.

Likely estimates of UV exposure at birth and by the age of 15 were also included. Over the study period, 1314 women developed rheumatoid arthritis.

Among nurses in the first NHS cohort, higher cumulative exposure to UVB was associated with a reduced risk of developing the disease.

Those with the highest levels of exposure were 21 percent less likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis than those with the least, the analysis showed. This backs up the findings of other studies, showing a link between geography and the risk of rheumatoid arthritis as well as other autoimmune conditions, including type 1 diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, and multiple sclerosis, say the authors. “Our study adds to the growing evidence that exposure to UV-B light is associated with decreased risk of rheumatoid arthritis. The mechanisms are not yet understood, but could be mediated by the cutaneous production of vitamin D and attenuated by use of sunscreen or sun avoidant behaviour,” they conclude.

  • 10 Glasses Of Water A Day Cuts Flab

10 Glasses Of Water A Day Cuts Flab

We have all heard this advice innumerable times. Drink eight to 10 glass of water a day. Experts say that if you are overweight or tend to get most of your calories from processed and salty food, eight to 10 glass of water could actually help you reduce your weight. Water could lower your BMI. If you drink eight to 10 glass of water everyday you will end up eating less and also drink fewer calorie-laden beverages.

Drinking about 500 ml of water before meal can cut the calories and help in losing weight and as a result lower body mass index (BMI). Water helps in burning fat. You can burn about 50 per cent more fat after drinking water compared with a higher calorie beverage. Water helps you play your sports better.

Sweating away just two per cent of your body’s water content affects the performance of a sportsperson to a great extent. Drinking enough water can improve your game and save you from the risk of dehydration. Water can fight hangovers. Being adequately hydrated is the best way not to feel lousy and grouchy after a late night party. Drink a couple of glasses of water hours before the event. Even when you are flying a long distance flight, staying hydrated helps you fight hangover.

  • Coffee As Effective As Other Drugs

Coffee As Effective As Other Drugs

A cup of coffee can be as effective as some commonly used performance enhancing drugs, a new study has revealed. Victoria University researchers Simon Outram and Bob Stewart examined existing research on the risks and benefits of stimulants being used by both sportsmen and people who wanted to boost their mental capabilities.

They found caffeine appeared to be as effective if not more effective than other drugs such as Ritalin, which is increasingly associated with students who “pop pills” to aid study, the Herald Sun reported. Dr Outram said there was some overlap between substances being used for sporting performance enhancement and cognitive performance enhancement and the findings were useful when considering the regulation of these substances.

The study took in methylphenidate, marketed as attention deficit disorder treatment Ritalin, amphetamines, such as Adderall which is mixedamphetamine stimulant, ephedrine, commonly found in Chinese remedies prescribed to alleviate asthma, and caffeine. Dr Outram said that there’s no strong evidence to suggest that these three substances are going to help you over and above what you might get from caffeine. “This would be particularly the case if you’re already training so that your body is at peak ability or your mind is at peak ability,” he said. He emphasised that the findings were based only on existing evidence, but said humans had a long association with stimulants.

  • Stem cell ‘first aid’ helps recovery post stroke

Stem cell ‘first aid’ helps recovery post stroke

ABolivian research team has suggested that injecting stem cells in the vital period immediately after a stroke may aid recovery. They found that rats injected with stem cells 30 minutes after a stroke had almost normal brain function restored within a fortnight.

The team from La Paz University Hospital says the method has potential in human trials, the BBC reported. The research, published in the journal Stem Cell Research and Therapy, support other studies that have found that stem cells could aid stroke patients by boosting the body’s ability to repair tissue damage. Stem cells are the body’s “master cells” with the potential to become many different cell types, and theoretically replace cells lost through disease or injury. Recent tests in humans have shown some promise, with stroke symptoms improving after an infusion of stem cells.

The Bolivian team extracted a certain type of stem cells from fat and bone marrow, and then injected them into the blood vessels of rats shortly after they had suffered an artificially-induced stroke. Even though the introduced cells did not appear to travel to the affected region of the brain, the rats still did better than other rats who did not receive the cells.

Within 24 hours, they were already showing a speedier recovery, and two weeks later, they registered almost normal scores on behavioral tests. The researchers said the early introduction of the cells might even interrupt the typical “chain reaction” of tissue damage, which follows a stroke, in which the initial injury harms additional cells in surrounding areas. Dr Exuperio Diez-Tejedor, who led the research, said that the recovery improved regardless of origin of the stem cells.

From the viewpoint of clinical translation allogenic stem cells are attractive because they can be easily obtained from young healthy donors, amplified, and stored for immediate use when needed after a stroke, the researchers wrote. They suggested that it might be possible to overcome the risk of immune rejection of the donor cells in humans.

  • 3 Things Women Definitely Want

    3 Things Women Definitely Want

Do you think women are inscrutable? Do you think they are extremely difficult to understand? Are you struggling to find out what she really is thinking and what she is all about? Don’t worry, you are not alone. A woman can say a lot with her silence while sometimes a man can talk for hours yet say nothing. You need to listen very carefully to figure out what your girl is trying to say. It is not rocket science, its just that you need to be sensitive to her. Here are a few things that women look for in men. Read on and you will probably understand her better…

    Be honest and credible
Honesty is something that is extremely important for a woman. You have to be brave enough to own up everything. If she ever caught you lying she wouldn’t forgive you easily. But if you faltered and still confessed to her honestly you can stand a chance. She has to be able to believe you and trust you implicitly. It means a lot to her. A woman looks for a partner who she can rely on.

    Hear her out
If you are looking for a steady relationship you need to enhance your listening skills. Lend an ear to her problems; you don’t need to give solutions all the time. She is not looking for answers; she just needs someone who can listen to her, rants without being judgmental, without being critical of her comments. Allow her to create an emotional bond with you.

    Grow-up
Women mature faster than men, we all know that. But expecting the woman to mother you all your life is not what she would like. She needs an anchor too.

She needs her man to be matured, calm, composed, and in control. Show her that you can face your fears and you do not need to run away from them. Impulsive is fine sometimes but show that you can take calculated risks as well. A woman loves it if she knows she can lean on her man and it is not the other way round.
