Jan Vishwas Bill eliminates 12 obsolete laws, expected to benefit common citizens: Goyal

New Delhi (TIP): Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, while emphasising about Jan Vishwas Bill, 2026, during a press conference said that citizens have been covered with a colonial mindset for decades, and this Bill addresses all these issues.
“We had a very positive experience as we started with Jan Vishwas Bill,” Goyal said.
The Union minister stated, “All Indians are law abiding citizens. Mistake can be made by anyone.” The Bill eliminates 12 obsolete laws and is expected to benefit common citizens, small businesses, farmers and fisheries. The government is open to suggestions and encourages states to decriminalise where necessary.
He went on to say that people are happy as they received money in their accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Yojana.
The Union minister added that the Bill will yield very good results, says “I am confident.”He expressed confidence in the Bill’s success, stating it’s a Central law that won’t impact states, and states can be sympathetic to minors while dealing with issues. “Handloom across the country will benefit under this Bill. 5 crore estimated cases pertaining to this are pending in a court, 79 Acts have been modified — in which offences are more than 1,000. Among these, six laws are from before the Independence.”
