NEW YORK, NY (TIP): Former Obama-Biden administration Housing Secretary and Budget Director Shaun Donovan, on Feb 16, applauded Joe Biden’s recent decision to extend the moratorium on mortgage foreclosures and mortgage forbearance, protecting New York City homeowners and others across the country who hold government-backed mortgages. Nearly 3 million Americans are currently enrolled in the COVID-19 mortgage forbearance program. “I proudly worked alongside then Vice President Joe Biden to help New Yorkers and all Americans recover from the 2008 housing crisis. Together, we provided billions of dollars in rental and mortgage assistance to countless struggling families in order to keep them in their homes,” said NYC Mayoral Candidate Shaun Donovan. “In many ways, the housing crisis we are experiencing now is even worse, and I applaud the administration’s bold efforts to protect the millions of homeowners in New York City and across the country from the threat of foreclosure.”
