Dr. Shashi Tharoor to interact with global Malayalees and solicit suggestions for the “People’s Manifesto”

NEW YORK (TIP): The Assembly elections in Kerala are scheduled to be held this summer and the Congress led UDF is working hard to ensure that the people’s aspirations are realized. Given the economic and sociocultural diversity of Kerala, the aspirations of people are also very varied. The AICC has entrusted the crucial task of touring the state extensively to interact with people and incorporate their views in the People’s Manifesto. Throughout his career in the UN which he served as an Under Secretary-General, Dr. Shashi Tharoor has been instrumental in transforming several communities, especially in developing countries.

He has begun extensive interactions with various sections of society and understanding the aspirations of people including students, entrepreneurs and women, amongst several others. He has already met people in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, and Malappuram. The meetings were all a huge success as people have taken part enthusiastically and several brilliant ideas have been noted and incorporated.

On the 19th of February, (8:30 pm IST) Dr. Shashi Tharoor will be interacting with the global Malayalee diaspora via a Zoom session which will be coordinated by the Indian Overseas Congress, the Overseas Indian Cultural Congress, Indian Cultural and Arts Society and other prominent Malayalee associations. This will be the first time that a political party from Kerala will be interacting with the Kerala diaspora to solicit the views and suggestions of NRIs, to be incorporated into the election manifesto. The NRIs from Kerala are famed for their enterprising nature and contribution to Indian society. As such, the Congress party is seeking their views and ideas to promote an inclusive, sensitive and progressive society. The Zoom meeting is open to all and will be shared live on the Social Media Channels of the Indian Overseas Congress.
