Borough Board and Borough Cabinet to Review Planning Initiatives and Priorities

QUEENS, NY (TIP): The New York City Department City of Planning will present current planning initiatives and priorities for the borough at a joint meeting of the Queens Borough  andBoard Cabinet, both chaired by Borough President Melinda Katz, on Monday, July 11 at 5:30 PM in Queens Borough Hall. Among the topics slated for discussion include:

● The Long Island City Core Planning Study, in which the Department of City Planning is working collaboratively with the community, other city agencies and various stakeholders in Long Island City in Community Districts 1 and 2 to develop comprehensive strategies and recommendations to promote affordable housing, economic opportunity and supporting infrastructure and services;

● The Flushing West Planning Study, which was recently placed on hold by the Department of City Planning;

● Flood resiliency efforts in Old Howard Beach, Hamilton Beach, Broad Channel, Rockaway Park and Rockaway Beach;

● Implementation of Mandatory Inclusionary Housing (MIH) and Zoning for Quality and Affordability (ZQA).
