Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA) Celebrates Diwali; Honors Four

MELVILLE, NY (TIP): Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA) celebrated DIWALI on Sunday October 8 at the Huntington Hilton Hotel. The gathering included about 360 prominent guests of Rajasthani descent. The occasion reflected a festive mood and as a part of the celebrations – four people of Rajasthan descent were honored for their accomplishments.

They included Mrs. Chandra Mehta, Dr Jugal K. Agrawal, Mrs. Sangita Sancheti and Mrs. Sharda Kotahwala.

The President of RANA Dr. Ajey Jain in his remarks said that the celebrations reflected RANA’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Women these days worry less about fitting into glass slippers and more about shattering glass ceilings.

The three women honorees exemplified this and have done better than the best. The RANA celebrations also included women’s Karva Chauth Celebrations.

Honorable Congressman Tom Suozzi was the Chief Guest and said in his remarks that the oldest and the biggest democracies are joining hands to bring a new and peaceful world order. Padma Bhushan Manjul Bhargava – the world-renowned Mathematician and youngest ever Professor of Mathematics at Princeton University and winner of Field’s Medal in Mathematics (called the Nobel Prize in Mathematics) also graced the occasion.

Karva Chauth Celebrations

The evening included a masterpiece performance by Samir and Dipali Music Group from Mumbai, India. The function ended with a multicourse Rajasthani dinner, catered by Mint Restaurant.
