INGREDIENTS

1 teaspoon garam masala powder, 1 teaspoon red chilli powder, 2 tablespoon coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon, asafoetida, 2 green chilli, 4 medium tomato, 400 gm chickpeas, salt as required, 1 teaspoon turmeric, 2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 6 tablespoon refined oil, 1 piece ginger, 6 cup spinach

Method

–               To prepare this recipe, chop tomatoes and spinach. Keep them aside for further use. Wash the chickpeas under running water. Put them in a pressure cooker on medium flame and fill adequate water in it. Boil them for 10-15 minutes or until soft.

–               Blend tomato, ginger and green chili to make a puree. Next, heat oil in a saucepan on medium flame and add cumin and asafoetida in it. Once the cumin seeds crackle, add the prepared tomato puree, turmeric, coriander powder and red chili in the mixture. Cook for 4 minutes until the tomato puree reduces to half its size and separates from the oil.

–               Add some chopped spinach, salt and water to the mixture and cover the pan. Cook this for at least 5 minutes.

–               Finally, add chickpeas to the to the gravy and mash them with a spatula. Feel free to add some more water to get a desired consistency of the gravy. Once done, add garam masala powder and serve.

This Palak Chole tastes great with almost all the Indian Bread such as Phulka, Tawa Paratha, Laccha Paratha, Punjabi Missi Roti, Naan, or any other bread that you prefer to make for your everyday meals.

It also tastes great with Steamed Rice, Jeera Rice, Matar Pulao, Bagara Rice, or any other lightly spiced Pulao.
