LONDON (TIP): In a proud moment for Rajasthan’s medical fraternity, Jaipur based Consultant Joint Replacement and Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Rohil Singh Kakkar has achieved a significant international milestone by becoming the first Orthopedic Surgeon from Rajasthan to receive a Fellowship in Joint Reconstruction Surgery at the Nuffield Orthopedic Centre, University of Oxford, England.
This achievement has brought international recognition to Rajasthan’s medical community and represents an important step towards strengthening specialized orthopedic expertise and enhancing the state’s presence on the global academic platform.
Dr Rohil Singh Kakkar is also among the very few surgeons from Rajasthan to have earned the super-specialty MCh Orthopedics degree from Ninewells Hospital, Scotland affiliated with the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
It is noteworthy that Dr Kakkar served as a Joint Replacement Consultant and Orthopedic Surgeon at Eternal Hospital, Jaipur, and Marble City Hospital, Kishangarh. During his tenure, he successfully treated more than 4,800 patients and earned appreciation for his surgical expertise and patient-centered approach.
Apart from clinical practice, Dr Kakkar has remained actively involved in surgical education and academic activities. Since 2023, he has been associated as a faculty member with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London, contributing to educational initiatives in joint replacement surgery.
Speaking about his journey to The Indian Panorama, Dr Kakkar said that stepping away from his busy surgical practice in Jaipur for a year to pursue advanced international clinical exposure was a challenging decision. He stated that orthopedic surgery is constantly evolving and surgeons must continue updating themselves with modern techniques and evidence-based treatment methods to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Dr Kakkar said that the experience gained at the University of Oxford would help strengthen modern surgical techniques and complex joint reconstruction procedures for patients in Rajasthan.
